It’s everywhere. You cannot avoid hearing discussions and reports about it. It has flooded talk shows and news programs everywhere. What is it? Well, in case you did not know, it’s “The Secret” that has been handed down for centuries and practiced by many of the most successful, brilliant and innovative people that ever walked the earth.
Apparently, people like Plato, Newton, Carnegie, Beethoven, Shakespeare, Einstein, DaVinci, Galileo, Napoleon, Hugo, Lincoln, Edison and Emerson all knew parts of “The Secret”. What is this transcendental, ancient and supernaturally cosmic, brilliant idea? Well, simply put, it is the notion that if you believe in something hard enough, you will get it.
I know for a fact that this groundbreaking belief has worked for at least one person, and that is the author of the book on the subject, Rhonda Byrne who, thanks to the brilliant marketing campaign of a subject that people like Karin Klein of The LA Times, Jeffrey Ressner of Time and Jerry Adler of Newsweek have described as the latest rehashed snake oil packaged in brilliant marketing designed to bait the most clueless, desperate, vulnerable, impressionable and superficial.
It does not hurt that people like Oprah Winfrey have jumped in to champion the cause and the theme, especially since she already has fawning fans who would jump out a window using a napkin as a parachute if she promised them that it would work.
Hey, I’m as firm a believer in positive thinking as the next guy, and I even have some firm thoughts on destiny and fate best left for another day, but I have some major problems with this “Secret” stuff.
Beware Rehashed Cons
It seems that all you have to do these days is slap the label “ancient secret”, “hidden mystery” or “secret conspiracy” on any pile of trash and mobs of people will run to buy a book or watch a movie on the subject. Tons of experts declared The DaVinci Code, for example, a pile of junk history, junk science and junk theology wrapped in Gnostic and feminist fertilizer, yet witness the congregation of clueless conned crazies clamoring for a copy. Increasingly, hordes of people insist that they do not know enough about anything and, amazingly, they prove themselves correct to a far more radical extreme than they realize.
We are told that this “Secret” has been handed down to us through the ages, but so has chicken, diarrhea and athlete’s foot, and I do not see anyone claiming that those things are mystical and cosmic. We are told that, co-incidentally, many of the most brilliant and successful people such as those noted above knew parts of the secret, but they all had teeth, a nose and wore some form of underwear, and I doubt anyone would argue that those things are a ticket to instant fame and power.
Apparently Byrne hit a very tough patch in her life and then read some positive thinking books that transformed her life. She used her job and contacts to latch onto effective and brilliant marketing efforts and, as they say, the rest is smiling all the way to the bank.
By the way, in ancient times people used to believe that a blind man, for example, was blind because he or someone in his family had sinned. I guess the poor guy could not see because there were not enough positive thinkers in his family. Also, I am sure that if he just concentrated on having perfect vision, he would soon make eagles jealous, right?
Beware Irrational Claims
“The Secret” is based on the so-called Law of Attraction, which claims that we attract the things we believe into our lives by our beliefs, attitudes, behaviors and aspirations. While all of this sounds sweet and likely to induce tearful actualization, I have a question. What if A firmly believes and wants B to marry him but B firmly believes and wants A to leave her alone? Both people are passionately focusing on what they most desire, yet the laws of logic and common sense dictate that both cannot get what they most seek. Democrats Pass Legislation Giving Felons The Right To Vote
ANNAPOLISâ”The Maryland Senate and House of Delegates have passed legislation to allow convicted felons to regain the right to vote after they have completed their sentences.
Currently, Senate Bill 488 and House Bill 554, the so-called Voter Registration Protection Act, appear destined for the desk of Martin Oâ™Malley to be signed into law. The Democrat majority pushed these bills through the legislature and voted down amendments that would have excluded murderers, , and molesters from this law. Maryland Republican Party Chairman James Pelura had the following comment about this bill:
Democrat majority has gone too far in passing legislation to allow convicted murderers, molesters, , and many other violent offenders to regain the right to vote. All of these convicted felons are people who have rejected our society and civil order. This smacks in the face of law-abiding citizens and victims everywhere.

Why do I hate liberalism? Let’s see. They take away rights from law-abiding citizens ( the recently passed smoking ban) and give rights to murderers, , and molesters. I wonder what kind of laws they will support….? Do you think they will support laws or politicians that are tough on crime or on pedophiles? If you were a politician here, what kind of platform would you run on?
WCBM in Baltimore also reports that California might provide a number for commuters to report single drivers in high occupancy lanes? Is there a law that reports illegal aliens? Nope! So again, let’s harass the law abiding and protect the criminal.
But wait, our wonderfully stupid Legislature elected by this state of blue lemmings outdoes itself here.
WCBM also reports that the State legislature might force Towson State to give up it’s MBA program as it competes with predominately black Morgan State ’s MBA program. (I guess whites do not need MBA’s ) If I was an African-American man, I would be offended, as it is A) reverse discrimination. and  assumes blacks cannot compete against whites.
This is the same logic that worries about police brutality as hundreds lie every year in our city. (And the man who did nothing to stop it as Mayor has been rewarded as being promoted to Governor. )
This is the logic of the thousands of anti-American morons march in our city streets to protest the government that protects their rights and thus supports enemies of Democracy that would like nothing better to put a bullet through their thick little heads.
This is the logic that is more willing to protest to protect the life of terrorists than an innocent unborn baby.
This is the logic of those more willing to fight for homosexuality, Islam or (Name your cause here) then their own country or Christianity.
Why do I hate liberalism? No reason…..

Jimmy (The goober farmer) Carter, writes a book (supposedly) with an idiotic, insulting title to "spark debate" and then instantly refuses to talk about it? Why Do liberals do this?
Former President Carter turned down a request to debate Alan Dershowitz about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying the outspoken Harvard law professor "knows nothing about the situation."
Carter, author of a new book advocating "peace not apartheid" in the region, said he will not visit Brandeis University to discuss the book because the university requested he debate Dershowitz.
"I don't want to have a conversation even indirectly with Dershowitz," Carter said in Friday's Boston Globe. "There is no need ... to debate somebody who, in my opinion, knows nothing about the situation in Palestine."
The school's debate request, Carter said, is proof that many in the United States are unwilling to hear an alternative view on the nation's most taboo foreign policy issue, Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory.
Carter brokered the 1978 Camp David peace accord between Israel and Egypt and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. He said the goal of his book, "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid," is to provoke dialogue and action.
"There is no debate in America about anything that would be critical of Israel," he said.
The reference to "apartheid," the word for South Africa's former system of state-sanctioned racial segregation, has angered some rabbis because it appears to equate that system with the treatment of Palestinians.
"President Carter said he wrote the book because he wanted to encourage more debate; then why won't he debate?" said Dershowitz, a vocal First Amendment advocate who has worked for O.J. Simpson and other high-profile .
Brandeis was founded in 1948 as a nonsectarian university under the sponsorship of the American Jewish community. Carter said he initially was interested in going there.
"I thought it would be a good idea to go to a campus that had a lot of Jewish students and get a lot questions," he said. But then the initial proposal evolved into a plan for a debate.
THIS is why Carter failed as a President and as a leader. He talks tough but when its time for the metal to hit the meat.. he runs the heck away pointing at the other guy crying like baby... SAY WHAT YOU MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY! If you write a book claiming that it is to foster discussion and debate and THEN run from the debates.. why should anyone take this as anything but more Anti-Jew-Pro Terror rhetoric from the same liberal mouthpiece?

RUSH: I just want to warn you, if you're a 60 Minutes viewer, I tell you, the Drive-By Media is ignoring this, but what they're not ignoring -- further illustrating the narrative and the template -- what's her name, Valerie Plame Wilson's book is out. 60 Minutes is doing a big profile over the weekend. They are pushing the heck out of Valerie Plame's book, all over the news media. She's number 509 on Amazon, number 509, and they're still pushing it -- because this takes 'em back to Bush. It takes 'em back to the template that they really love.
You realize, nothing is going well for the Democrats. They can't get us out of Iraq, angering their base. They caved on the S-CHIP program. Wait 'til you hear this. I had a little bit of this yesterday in terms of the Democrats' strategery on this. There was Nancy Pelosi, who's really, really, really taking some hits in the media today over her ineffective leadership on the Armenian genocide resolution, and she sort of faded away in one newspaper story about where she is.
Democrats in the House are not happy with her. They have failed to override the S-CHIP veto. They're just having all kinds of problems. You add to it Harry Reid's smear letter, and they're eager to take anybody's attention off of their failures and their ineffectiveness, and bammo!
Here comes Valerie Plame's book for 24/7 media coverage just to relieve that. That's another lie. That is as surreal as what happened to me. It's as surreal as what happened to Scooter Libby. She was not outed by Bush administration people. Well, Richard Armitage is in the Bush administration, but he's not sympathetic to the Bush administration when it came to the Iraq war. He was the one that leaked to Novak. He knew throughout the investigation that he was the leaker, and yet he didn't come forward, and Scooter Libby is convicted on a process crime.
The whole thing was surreal. The whole thing was based on lies. Joe Wilson is a liar! Joe Wilson came back from Niger and told a story about what he found there, that the CIA and the Senate committee both said, "Hey, this kind of confirms what we thought about Iraq trying to get uranium from Niger." The Senate intelligence committee labeled him... Well, they didn't call him a liar. They just found that his report, his testimony was labeled in an op-ed piece that he wrote in the New York Times was just riddled with falsehoods.
It's a harsh thing to say. I understand that this is a harsh thing to say. I don't know how to say it any other way: Liberals lie. They have to have a monopoly in order to flourish because in a monopoly, the lies never get challenged.
One of the lies that continues to be spread today is the fact that conservatives -- Mitch McConnell, Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin -- trashed a 12-year-old little boy by the name of Graeme Frost. We beat up a defenseless little .
No such thing happened! All that happened was an investigation was undertaken by some people, and the truth was revealed about the Frost family's financial circumstances. They were qualified under those circumstances anyway for medical insurance for the , under the S-CHIP program.
The Democrats then found out about the because, through the circuitous route from family plan -- I don't know where it was, but from Maryland all the way to Washington, they found out the , and they made him do -- or let him do -- a response to President Bush's radio address. His theme, the 12-year-old's theme in the speech that he made was that he wants President Bush to sign the bill so that , like him, will be able to get medical coverage and treatment, should they have a similar accident.
Well, and that left the impression that Bush didn't want little Graeme Frost to be able to get medical care because he was going to veto it. Well, Bush had proposed a $4 billion increase, but, as I keep pounding, the dirty little secret was that Graeme Frost and his family were already covered and they were treated and got treated on the basis of the S-CHIP program!
Expansion was not needed. My point was that Graeme Frost was used by the Democrats, a bunch of lies put into his head by whoever wrote the script. He's 12 years old. Yet the lie persists that his family was attacked and that he was attacked. When, in truth, it was the Democrats who were exposed -- and when you expose them, that's when they launch into action. You're not supposed to challenge what they say. They have become so accustomed during the days of their monopoly, that whatever they said was, that when somebody comes along and challenges it, "How dare you? How dare you!"
The most inconvenient thing for Democrats these days is the truth.
Fiction is their best friend. The Washington Post has a story on this S-CHIP thing, and the headline is: "Democrats Press Ahead on S-CHIP -- As veto override fails, they plan bill with minor changes." Now, the spin of this story is that maybe -- now get this -- maybe the Republicans will get their face-saving changes, what they stood up for.
It's Reid and Pelosi who have the bloody noses here. It's Reid and Pelosi who ought to be embarrassed. They're the two most ineffective leaders, in my lifetime, in the United States House and Senate on the Democrat side.
Reid and Pelosi bombed big time here. By the way, do you know there is a reason why Pelosi pulled the bill in the House, and it had to do with an amendment. Here we go. "Roy Blunt issued a press release late last night lambasting the Democrats. The opening paragraph is this: 'The Democrats' full scale retreat...'" I'm sorry.
This is about FISA. This is about FISA. But it's the same thing. There's another failure. This S-CHIP, FISA, both of them failures. So now the way that the Democrats are spinning this: "The new version will probably give Republicans some face-saving alterations, but no substantive change, Democrats leaders suggested..." Why do the Republicans need to "save face," folks? They found the courage to vote against the veto override.
Why do they need to save face? This is an example of the hubris and the arrogance from the Democrats. They think the Republicans are in trouble because they voted against this, and so, "Well, we'll come back and give you a chance to save your face." If anybody needs to hide their faces these days it's the Democrats in Washington.

Why do Liberals lie?
It is a well known fact that the liberal philosophies espoused by many sad, deluded individuals in both America and abroad today are not workable. They are, however quite detrimental to the well being of the various peoples of the world. The reasons that they persist in these delusions are three-fold:
First are the well meaning but severely ignorant dolts who have been duped into following these ideas by the members of the other groups. These are people of questionable intellect and little or no ability to rise above the mindless droning of the masses.
Second are those who know that their beliefs and behaviors are harmful to themselves and others but don't care.
Third are the malicious power seekers who prey on the weak and ignorant, spreading their destructive filth for the sole purposes of prolonging their pathetic grasp on political power.
Whether a liberal is driven by ignorance, apathy, or greed, they all have one thing in common ... they lie. The ignorant lie either out of ignorance or to preserve their self-delusions. The apathetic lie to excuse their lifestyles. And the Malicious lie to keep their power base apathetic and ignorant.

Should we be "just" existing? (Non Political Post)

What does it mean....the abundant life? Oh, I dont think it necessarily means riches on earth. But I do think it means that we should have fulfilment in our every day walk with Jesus.
I think we should be able to see the things that God is doing in our lives and have a little excitement and anticipation.
I have never understood the thinking of "I cant wait until the afterlife and being with God. God is also with us here. Our purpose and design here is to fellowship with him right here. To allow him to live through us to touch the lives of people that he places in our pathways.
Yet I see many people that I dearly care about that seem to try and just find ways to put in their time and just wait for that afterlife.
He says he came that this life here can be what? Abundant. So where are we missing it when we just basically want it all to end so we can just go onto something we presume to be so much different and so much better?
If it can not be abundant here, how can it be there? Remember, satan once abode there. Leader of Music. Formed beautifully and he and 1/3 of the angels were kicked out of heaven. Kicked out of paradise. Kicked out of this place that is much better than here.
What I am saying is this. No this is not heaven. Yet God himself tells us that his was sent here so that we could not only have a relationship with our loving father, but also have abundance in our life because of him.
I dont know about you, but to me that is a pretty good deal in my opinion. That is something to look forward to, not a life to begrudge.
Life doesnt turn out as we plan. Most of us here have been divorced. Some several times.Should we be holding onto our failures; or should we be clinging to the things that bring life?

Joel 2:25 says God will restore the years the cankerworm has eaten. Yeah.... that is a scripture taken out of context. But it is also one of personal nature. Meaning it could happen individually if we allow it.
I wonder what happened to the people that Jesus healed that had approached him with crutches. Did they keep the cruthches or did they go on, having been redeemed in this life?
Many of us cary many crutches because we do not want to get over the past. We look for them in the form of medications etc. We form groups just so we can all whine to each other and basically stay the victim.
I do not think there are any victims in Jesus Christ. We can be a victim if we choose to. It is choice.
Its like the scripture that says, who's report are you going to believe?
