I was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car. I had just come from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work.
Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would consider a bum.
From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no money. There are times When you feel generous but there are other times
that you just don't want to be bothered. This was one of those "don't want to be bothered times." "I hope he doesn't ask me for any money," I thought. He didn't. He came and sat on the curb in front of the bus stop but he didn't look like he could have enough money to even ride the bus. After a few minutes he spoke.
"That's a very pretty car," he said.
He was ragged but he had an air of dignity around him. His scraggly blond beard keep more than his face warm. I said, "thanks," and continued wiping off my car.

He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea for money never came. As the silence between us widened something inside said, "ask him if he needs any help." I was sure that he would say "yes" but I held true to the inner voice. "Do you need any help?" I asked.
He answered in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget. We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from
those of higher learning and accomplishments.

I expected nothing but an outstretched grimy hand. He spoke the three words that shook me.
"Don't we all?" he said.

I was feeling high and mighty, successful and important, above a bum in the street, until those three words hit me like a twelve gauge
shotgun. Don't we all?

I needed help. Maybe not for bus fare or a place to sleep, but I needed help. I reached in my wallet and gave him not only enough for bus
fare, but enough to get a warm meal and shelter for the day. Those three little words still ring true. No matter how much you have, no matter
how much you have accomplished, you need help too. No matter how little you have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even without money or a place to sleep, you can give help.

Even if it's just a compliment, you can give that. You never know when you may see someone that appears to have it all. They are waiting on you to give them what they don't have. A different perspective on life, a glimpse at something beautiful, a respite from daily chaos, that only you through a torn world can see.
Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets. Maybe he was more than that. Maybe he was sent by a power that is great and wise, to minister to a soul too comfortable in themselves.

Maybe God looked down, called an Angel, dressed him like a bum, then said, "go minister to that man cleaning the car, that man needs help."
Don't we all?

I received this in an email and just wanted to share it. It probably has been posted a thousand more times, but it is worth posting 10001.

A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea
and only two of the men on it were able
to swim to a small, desert like island.
The two survivors, not knowing what else to do,
agree that they had no other recourse
but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on oppo site sides of the island.

The first thing the first man prayed for was food. The next morning, the first man saw
a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the land,
and he was able to eat its fruit.. The other man's parcel of land remained barren.

After a week , the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land.

On the other side of the island, there was nothing.

Soon the first man prayed for a house,
clothes, more food. The next day, like magic,
all of these were given to him.

However, the second man still had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship,
so that his wife and he could leave the island.
In the morning, he found a ship docked
at his side of the island.

The first man boarded the ship with his wife
and decided to leave the second man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy
to receive God's blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered..

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from Heaven booming, "Why are you leaving your companion on the island?" "My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them," the first man answered. "His prayers were all unanswered, and so he does not deserve anything."

"You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him.
"He had only one prayer, which I answered.
If not for that, you would not have received any of my blessings."

"Tell me," the first man asked the voice,
" what did he pray for that I should owe him anything?"

"He prayed that all your prayers be answered."

For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us.

When Jesus died on the cross he was thinking of you!

Today, the sun is behind the clouds, it is taking a well deserved rest. The atmosphere is cloudy, but no rain. The air coming through my door is cool and crisp, still no rain. But that's alright because God does know best.

As I sit here at my computer, my mind races in different directions. I have people to see on my job, yet, I am not feeling a tug to do that. I am feeling a tug to share and write what comes to my heart.

I remember how much love God shares toward us in spite of all the disobedience and evil that is present in this world. I am remembering my own self, that as much as I desire to do all the right things, how sometimes, I fail and yet He loves me. I think about how at this very moment I can hear Him speaking within me. I can sense Him saying "trust me". and I want to share this because as I am hearing from Him. I feel that He has a message ot only to me, but for all those He loves.

He is speaking to my spirit to say "be encouraged". He says beleive that it won't be long before all the dreaded things are no more. He says that we must tell as many as we can about His love. He says that until we (those called by His name) tell all that we come in contact with, untill we (christians) begin to witness with the urgency of what is about to happen, He will not come to intervene.

He says that He will not go against His own Word. He says He set in His Word the appointed time for evil to end yet, that time is contingent upon us following instructions given to us through His . We (christians) have to love people enough to tell them. We (christians) have to show the lost the way to Him. He says "I love you and I will never leave you or forsake you" no matter what it looks like or no matter how it seems. He says "don't be afraid of their faces". Tell them.

I am now remembering the stories of the Old Testament how when His people called upon His Name, He saved them! He says we (christians) have forgotten to cry out to HIm. He says we (chrisitians) do not believe that He will intervene. He says that we (christians) only believe what we see. He says that we (christians) must learn how to once again trust that He is greater than our opponents and cry out to HIm beleiving that He will come, and He will come.

He says that we (christians) do not believe that He is the same God of Abraham, Jacob and Isaiah. He says when we learn to trust Him and believe that He will protect and save us and learn how to once again cry out to Him as a to a father, He will come. He will intervene. He will save. He will protect. Cry out!! Cry out!! Cry and be saved!!!

AN ATHEIST

A young woman teacher with obvious liberal tendencies explains to her class of small that she is an atheist. She asks her class if they are atheists too. Not really knowing what atheism is but wanting to be like their teacher, their hands explode into the air like fleshy fireworks.

There is, however, one exception. A beautiful girl named Lucy has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different.

"Because I'm not an atheist."

Then, asks the teacher, "What are you?"

"I'm a Christian."

The teacher is a little perturbed now, her face slightly red. She asks Lucy why she is a Christian.

"Well, I was brought up knowing and loving Jesus. My mom is a Christian, and my dad is a Christian, so I am a Christian."

The teacher is now angry. "That's no reason," she says loudly.

"What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was a moron. What would you be then?"

She paused, and smiled. "Then," says Lucy, "I'd be an atheist."

This sailor met a pirate in a bar, and the sailor couldn't help but notice that the pirate was pretty badly - the worse for wear. He's had a peg leg, and a hook, and an eye patch. So the sailor asked the pirate how he got the peg leg and the
pirate answered, "Well, matey, I got washed overboard one night while we was in a fierce storm. An' dern me if a shark didn't go and bite off me leg."
Then the sailor asked, "So how'd you get the hook?" And the pirate answered, "Well, we was in a fierce fight while boarding a ship one time, and that's when I got me hand cut off."
Finally, the sailor asked, "So how'd you get
the eye patch?" And the pirate responded, "A seagull pooped in me eye."
And the sailor said, "You mean to tell me you lost an eye just because a seagull pooped in it?"
The pirate said, "Well, it was the first day I had the hook."

This story has no moral, it's just plain funny!!!

FLYING BLIND

One day at a busy airport, the passengers on a commercial airliner are seated, waiting for the cockpit crew to show up so they can get under way. The pilot and copilot finally appear in the rear of the plane, and begin walking up to the cockpit through the center aisle. Both appear to be blind. The pilot is using a white cane,
bumping into passengers right and left as he stumbles down the aisle, and the copilot is using a guide dog. Both have their eyes covered with huge sunglasses. At first the passengers
do not react; thinking that it must be some sort of practical joke. However, after a few minutes the engines start revving and the airplane starts moving down the runway. The passengers look at each other with some uneasiness, whispering among themselves and looking desperately to the stewardesses for reassurance. Then the airplane
starts accelerating rapidly and people begin panicking. Some passengers are praying, and as the plane gets closer and closer to the end of the runway, the voices are becoming more and more hysterical. Finally, when the airplane has
less than 20 feet of runway left, there is a sudden change in the pitch of the shouts as everyone screams at once, and at the very last moment the airplane lifts off and is airborne.
Up in the cockpit, the copilot breathes a sigh of relief and turns to the pilot: "You know, one of these days the passengers aren't going to scream, and we're gonna get killed!"

EVER FEEL LIKE YOU'RE FLYING BLIND SOME DAYS?

HAPLOUS
SINGLE EYES

Haplous = greek for single, simple, complete, whole good
and sound.

Luke 11:29-36

[29] As the crowds increased, Jesus said, "This is
a wicked generation. It asks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. [30] For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the of Man be to this generation. [31] The Queen of the South will
rise at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon's wisdom, and now one greater than Solomon
is here. [32] The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one greater than Jonah is here. [33] "No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where
it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. [34] Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your
whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. [35] See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. [36] Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you."

I've always heard that "warning comes before
destruction". The people were asking for a sign and the sign was already there.
