the malvin report

i kind of don't want to paste pictures of malvin all over my blog the way i did with calvin. now it is SO sad to see the pictures of calvin.

nonetheless, malvin is just TOO cute and i HAVE to post a few. i have done a collage here so as not to post SO many in quantity.

as you can see, malvin is having some difficulty filling calvin's shoes. EVERYTHING is too big for the little guy. i made most of this stuff for calvin after he was 3 or 4 months old, and malvin is still only 2 months.

here we see malvin sleeping in calvin's radio flyer bed and he is LOST in the stuffed monkeys. malvin loves all the monkeys as much as calvin did. i taught them both monkey aversion therapy. whenever they chewed or nibbled on ANYTHING they were not supposed to, i shove a stuffed monkey in thier mouth and shake it at them and tell them "bite the monkey, bite the monkey." it works pretty well, but i have a lot of monkeys with the stuffing ripped out. i have hundreds of them leftover from when my band the prayzmunkees broke up.

in the middle shot, we can see how HUGE calvin's crate is for malvin. he doesn't like it. he prefers the little orange backpack carrier. i let him curl up in the back pack and then i put him and it into the crate, and he likes that better.

hobbes did not like him at all when i brought him home. i had forgotten, but she was that way with calvin too. malvin is TOTALLY terrified of her and usually gives her a lot of space. in the last two pics, they are actually kind of playing. hobbes is just sitting there letting him go nutso, but they both are kind of enjoying it. he still keeps a lot of distance even though he acts tough.

monkey aversion therapy is when they nibble or gnaw at ANYTHING they are not supposed to (including and especially ME), i shove a stuffed monkey into thier mouth and yell excitedly "bite the monkey! bite the monkey! don't bite ME!" the monkey will usually fight back and hide and growl too.

it seems to work. all i have to do with malvin is say the monkey thing and he stops chewing whatever he was chewing and is sudenly alert and being the guard dog and looking for a monkey.

these dogs are natural guard dogs. you can't train it into them, and you can't train it out of them. it is how they are bred. i can see it in malvin already, he is a little policeman. i also saw it in calvin.

malvin is a neopolitan mastiff/blue nose pitt bull. if you google either of those breeds you will get an idea of how his temperment is. the combination is also a sanctioned purebreed. it is called a band dogge. google that.
