calvin & hobbes this week

calvin has been growing a bit. when i got him he was a little smaller than hobbes. there are a couple pictures on this blog of him and her. here is the latest size comparison.

it looks like they are fighting, but they are playing. i got in the way of them once and hobbes followed thru with a whack at him and it hit me, and her claws were not out. she beats the stuffing out of him all the time, if she was using her claws he would be bleeding.

the two of them tear the place up running back and forth chasing each other. i have two of those fabric tube habitrail tunnel things for . one in the kitchen under the table, and the other in the spare room. they run in and out of those all the time. i don't leave him out when i am out, i crate him and he is really cool with it. i have a big winnebago crate for him that should last.

he doesn't really look so much like a pup anymore. he just looks like a small dog. i was reading up on the mix and it says to expect him to be anywhere from 90lbs to 230lbs. i am barely 200 myself lately and i am old. he is going to keep me in shape.

calvin and hobbes pictures are copyright free. you can use them as you will.

hobbes useta like to fetch, but she lost interest in it a few years back. she watches calvin play fetch though and wants to be part of it. he is too fast and clumsy and there is no way she can get involved without getting run over, so i usually just give her a treat.

when they play, they run back and forth like kids, but a lot faster than toddlers can run. i have cleared out any furniture from the centers of the rooms, but the kitchen is tiled and calvin gets NO traction on it. the living room is natural wood and not much better. there is a throw rug there, but he usually goes flying on it.

that all said, YES, calvin OFTEN runs over hobbes when they are running wild. hobbes gets indignant and will hiss and puff up and everything will stop for a second, and then they are up and running again. even so, hobbes is the lead on this game. calvin looks to her for the cue to run amok, and when she stops, he stops.
