I'm looking for a Good Friend First, a husband second = a Friend for Life! // My friends say I'm kind-hearted, caring, compassionate and a good listener. I'm loyal and serious when I need to be. I approach life with a genuine sense of humor and find this invaluable in dealing with what life has to throw at you. My faith is very important to me. I was raised Protestant (Reformed and Presbyterian) and it was my Grandmother who had THE most influence on me, regarding Love of God/Christ, faith-in-action and unconditional acceptance. I tend to be quiet and reserved at first, perhaps even tentative and unsure of myself. It takes a bit for me to feel comfortable around men, so don't take it personal. Be patient with me and gentle. I like to spend time mostly by myself and my pet cat. I am a voracious reader and like to discuss books and ideas and generally have Good, heart-warming, lively discussions about Anything. (This I also learned from my Grandmother--she, who got her Masters degree in Philosophy, could discuss the latest in politics, religion...just about Anything...). Probably because I live alone I watch a lot of TV--I like Sci-fi shows, like StarGate SG1, StarGate Atlantis, BattleStar Gallactica and any Star Trek show, series or movies. I don't care for "reality" shows. I perhaps have no sense of humor with this because I believe they belittle those who truly must survive for a living. Okay...I have some opinions. I like a Good Joke, but never at another's expense. I've lived through some difficult circumstances and believe in God/Christ/The Holy Spirit, Good Friends and Prayer. I like to write when I can, mostly poetry when inspired; and I'd like to be able to study the Bible more in-depth. I enjoy physical activities too: like swimming, bicycling, tennis, badmitton, etc. I must say that I am the type of person who believes that BEFORE any physical intimate relationship to occur, we MUST be Very GOOD friends First, and for some time. I AM looking for a lifelong relationship and committment. I'm uncertain how I feel about . I always thought I'd like to adopt a , for I had love to share, but I never felt I could do it alone. I have some weight issues, but I am working on this. I've worked long and hard to resolve a lot of issues in my life. I feel it has helped to me me the person I am today. The issues have made me more compassionate and caring to the roads that others have travelled and they've shown me that I want and deserve a future not dictated by the past.
My Ideal Person
I'm looking for a Christian Partner who is gentle, kind, compassionate and has a sense of humor. As I have asthma, I would like a non-smoker, and I am not a drinker. I'd like a man who is responsible, both financially and morally. I appreciate honesty, speaking the truth in love. I'd like a man to share my life with: to share meals, to do things together, to share a relaxing evening together. I'ld like for us to BUILD a life together that we BOTH want. Currently I work because it expands my social life, pays the rent and keeps kibble in my Kitten-cat's food dish. I take my work seriously. However, I feel it underutilizes my talents and I'd like to be doing something else, but haven't yet figured out "what I want to be when I grow up." I'm grown-up in that I face what needs to be faced and deal with what needs to be dealt with, but I try not to be so grown-up that I cannot appreciate the simple things in life. This has been some of the economics of my life. I would like a man to be stable and I would like him to express and deal with his and others emotions. I want someone to talk to, someone to hold my hand, help me feel secure when we're together and trust when we're apart. As a woman, I'd like to feel a part of a couple. Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
My faith is Crucial to my life and in my being able to get thru life's ups and downs. I've had my share of trials & tribulations. But, Thanks-be-to-God, I have come thru them stronger and more faithful FOR them! I'm still "working" on my faith, but it has certainly grown from infancy, thru adolescence into adulthood. I Like to study. I pray everyday. I Like to learn. I Love God and God (and God thru certain people) has touched my heart with Love and Joy that is beyond compare. To be able to share that with a partner would be gravy.
Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
John 3:16 -- "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotton Son..." (This speaks to the ultimate: the price of our salvation & the lengths of God's Love for us).
Isaiah 49: (to paraphrase): ...see, I have carved your image upon the palm of my hand. (To me this speaks to the magnitude of God's Love for us, that we are IN the palm of God's hands)
Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
A Christian relationship establishes a firm foundation, a solid basis for trust, direction and guidance in life.
Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
I grew up in NY state, upstate NY. We moved around a lot, but mostly within the Amsterdam, NY, Albany-Saratoga area. My work has brought me to live in Saratoga Springs now. I have not travelled much, nor have I visited many places except for local, historical areas of interest.
What are your favorite activities both at Church and outside?
Visiting friends...lots of things really...perhaps more at another time....
What is your day like? Describe your daily routine.
Weekdays, it is very busy, especially during the months of September thru April/May. I work in a College & it is Very hectic much of the year. I get up, shower, take care of my cat, work ~7 to 8 hours (with lunch-time & after work time spent at the computer). I go home, have a light, late meal, take care of my cat & spend some time with her. I have a meal over TV, or talk on the phone, or go out to visit friends. Go to bed, sleep, start-it all over again.
WeekENDS, I rest, relax, visit/spend time with friends, eat out, look for interesting places to go or visit. Attend church...
What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
Eventually, to be with God in Heaven, if I am fortunate enough.
In the meantime, to enjoy the gift of Life that God has given me, and hopefully to share that WITH someone special; to also, to continue to learn and grow in understanding & practice God's ways.
