Recently I sang for my high school reunion. One of my former teachers could not believe that the quiet, shy girl who sat in his class so many years ago could stand and sing for so many people and not seem nerveous. All I could tell him was that God had put me in so many situations in my life, that I had to learn to do some things that I could not do before. I have done many things in life, from playing piano and directing church choirs, singing solos, etc. to speaking to a group of high school or college students or their parents. Sales, teaching, music ministry, office work, being a wife and mother--all have taught me something. I believe that God uses each phase of your life to prepare you for the one to come. There have been many rough paths that I have had to endure, but God has always brought me through each one. No, I'm not perfect yet. God is STILL working on me. I wonder what He is preparing for the next phase in my life.
My Ideal Person
Above all, I am looking for someone who loves God as much as I do. I don't necessarily want someone who "believes" he is super-spiritual. I couldn't live up to that, because I'm just an ordinary person. If the man is striving to live up to the principles in Ephesians 5, not just the one where the husband is to love the wife; if he can accept me just as I am; if he is willing to be the spiritual head of his home and lead as he follows Christ; if he can accept the love and respect of a faithful wife and be forgiving of her short-comings; if he can remember that besides God, the one who loves him most is at home; if he realizes that fun and adventure are not just for the "kids". That two people in love, sharing God's beautiful creation as they walk together through life is an adventure indeed--that person would be my ideal partner.
