43 year old Woman in Roselle, Illinois, United States Looking For: Men

Profile for Psalm57_9
I was raised in a loving, strong, and dedicated Christian family. Serving God with all that I am is the only life I know how to live, and I find it to be a very joyful life! I am a harpist and have been free-lancing for the last several years and just finished 2 years of teaching music and French in a christian school. I was able to teach French--something I discovered I loved, to my great surprise--because I spent a year living in Bordeaux as a short-term missionary. It was the best year of my life, and if God takes me back there I would be overjoyed. I am very passionate about music, books, theatre, history, and European travel, but my friends find me pretty easy-going and a good listener. I am not a tense per and get along with pretty much everybody. I can be shy at first, but once I warm up, watch out! I have a wide range of interests and love discussing them with like-minded friends. I have a very good sense of humor, though it tends towards "British" humor quite a bit. Blame it on my reading....

My Ideal Person
I am looking for someone with some similar interests who wants to begin a friendship that could develop into a dating relationship down the road. I am not interested in anyone who is not an active and committed Christian. I want to look up to a man spiritually, as well as literally. And I have to be blunt here--it is pretty important to me that the man I'm dating be taller than I am, which is 5'9". (I know, I just knocked out oodles of great guys.) An interest in "cultural" things would be very nice as well. I am not into sports at this point, but I could enjoy them with the right person. I have always been active and energetic, so a couch potato is not for me!

What are your favorite television shows?: LOST, Scrubs, Prison Break, Alias, Gilmore Girls

Favorite films: Singin' in the Rain, Casablanca, Charade, Lord of the Rings

What are your favorite musicians or bands?: Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble, MichaelFeinstein, Boston Pops

Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) When I was 5 1/2 years old I placed my faith in Jesus Christ, Who died on the cross for ME! He saw me,all the way back when God created the world, and loved me despite my sinfulness and utter unworthiness. And so, "being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ". (Romans 5:1) WOW! God loves me, sinful creature that I am, forgave me, promises me His peace, and that when I die, I will spend eternity with Him! How can I not be joyful in my service to Him?! I owe Him everything. Faith in Jesus and His amazing work for us has given me such freedom and joy.

Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
Most important? Wow, that is so hard. It seems that every time I read God's word(and really meditate like I should), depending on what is going on in my life, an "old familiar" verse can just jump out and grab me. I love that! God's Word, like His mercies, can be new every day--they never grow old. If I had to start the narrowing-down process, some of the books that I turn to the most frequently are Psalms, Romans, and Hebrews. There is so much to learn, and I know I need to be much more diligent in my seeking of the Lord.

Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
Because it is the only way! How can a Christian have true fellowship (meeting of the mind, soul, everything!) with an unbeliever? You just can't! God commanded it, that's the way it has to be.

Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
Ok, hold tight....I was born in Chicago, but we moved 2 years later to the Columbus, Ohio area(where my mom is from) and lived there for 7 years. Then, we moved to Michigan (where most of my dad's family is) and lived away out in the boondocks (Sandusky--no where near Cedar Point, or anything remotely interesting) for 13 years. That solidified my love for the city and being near good museums and concert halls. My family is all about music and we would have to travel an hour and a half one way down to the suburbs of Detroit for all of our music lessons every week. I went to college at a christian university in SC and after I graduated, my family moved back to Ohio to be near my (ailing) grandparents. So it is lovely to go back and visit my closely-knit family all in the same place. I lived for a year in Bordeaux, France (LOVED it and would love to live in France the rest of my life if given the opportunity.) and while there I was able to visit Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany,Luxembourg, Belgium, and Great Britain (only London--I need to see the rest!). I loved every minute of it since I am a MAJOR history buff and my family came from several of those countries. As for the US, while growing up, my family would almost always spend the entire summer up in the U.P. of Michigan at our cabin on Piatt Lake. It was heaven. My 4 siblings and I were always out in the woods and swimming in the lake. I was quite a tomboy then, and usually had multitudes of scratches on my legs.

What are your favorite activities both at Church and outside?
Well, it would be easier to name what I don't do at church....My family has always been heavily involved in our local churches, no matter where we lived, and we love to serve the Lord together. Mainly through music--we all sing and play different instruments, so that was something special we could do together. I can't imagine not worshipping the Lord through music that pleases Him . I am pretty conservative in that area. I dislike "christian" music that calls the attention to the "performer" and takes the focus off of the Lord. So, at church, I love to sing in the choir, play my harp for solos or in the orchestra, I sometimes accompany choirs on the piano, I love working with kids, helping in the S.S. and nursery, etc. etc. Outside of church, well, I am versatile and like quite a few different things. Ask!

What is your day like? Describe your daily routine.
I just finished two years of being a teacher and I loved it, even though my days were extremely hectic. Now, it's the summertime, so things have slowed down a bit and I can return to my (preferred)nocturnal ways. I've taken the month of June off so far and am only just starting a new, semi-temp. job , so I haven't had to get up early and go to work. My biggest excitement has been going to evening play practice. A friend of mine started up a christian theatrical company, and divides the schedule between "classic" plays (or "family" plays), and plays that present a strong, Gospel message. This summer she is presenting "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" (a SUPER fun musical that I have loved all my life) and I actually won the part of Lucy. If you ask my little brother, he will tell you that it's no stretch, but that's another story... Anyway, we open in August, so until then we have lots of work to do that is frankly, great fun. I am a Broadway musical freak and this is a dream come true!

What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
I have quite a few goals, and not all will be shared here. Mainly, I need to be more like my Saviour. I am so far from what I should be--aren't we all? Personally, I would love to get married and serve the Lord with my husband. But if that is not the Lord's plan for my life, then I would like to go back to France as a missionary, but as more of a "tent-maker". I.E., have a job there, so I won't have to raise support in the US.
