38 year old Woman in Grants Pass, Oregon, United States Looking For: Men

Profile for Halzers
And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." // Hello -- My name is Holly, and I am a twenty-year-old woman who lives in southern Oregon. Currently, I am taking a break from college and working full-time while living at home with my parents. The possibility of having a jaw operation this summer is uncertain, but I've been waiting for a maxillofacial surgery for quite a few years now. I had a preliminary op. last August and the major one is still impending. Regardless of whether I get it done soon or not, I plan to commence my education in the fall of 2006, my first choice being Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo, where I'd study architecture, or at Oregon State, where I'd likely do business doubled with something else. Currently, as job obligations, the need to save money for expensive schooling, and possible jaw operations hold me down, I am unable to travel long-distance to meet somebody. (However, if YOU are able to travel to see ME, then that is possible.) My pastimes include eating sushi, seeing movies, reading periodicals, listening to various kinds of music, shopping, surfing the net, and for the most part acting goofy. Many of these things I do with my best girlfriend, who is my sister Danielle, or my best (guy) friend, Adrian, because it's not as fun to do them alone. I enjoy animals, especially my two cats and dog, and also enjoy s some. Perality-wise, I'm outgoing, friendly, direct, somewhat sarcastic, a good listener, love learning new things, love meeting new people, can't stand egotistical people, can't stand bossy and/or condescending people, however...the grace of God gives me the strength to be kind to them. I love the Lord; however, as I do work a lot, I don't spend as much time with Him as I know I should. I am a human being, struggling against the flesh just as everyone else. Why pretend I'm 100% super-duper Godly when I'm not? The Lord works immensely in my life, but sometimes I neglect to thank or acknowledge Him for it as much as I ought.

My Ideal Person
From my short but impacting past experience, I prefer not to be lied to, especially when it comes to whether you're a "Christian" or not. If you don't love God and don't want to follow Him, please say so before things proceed too far. I find if you pretend to be someone you're not, you only end up hurting yourself.

On the flip side, if you're a Christian fanatic who thinks God's only on the side of Republicans, and you love being right more than you love people...I don't actually wish to be mentally exhausted, as sad as that may sound.

I am expecting five to six more years of college, and planning on working at my chosen career for some time after that, in order to pay off college loans. As threatening as it sounds, any guy or any relationship that doesn't take those plans seriously or respect what I've chosen to do is really not ideal. I have been waiting two years already just go get surgery done so I can even get to four-year college, as well as worked hard to earn the money for it. So honestly, if I come this far already, I'd really not prefer to throw away my dreams. I even rejected a relationship with my best guy-friend because I knew I'd possibly be moving too far away for us to really be as actively involved as I need to be with somebody. In conclusion, I am not, by any means, desperate.

I am not closed out to the possibility of having children, but if I had my choice in the matter, and my future husband agreed, I'd like to not have children for some time, then later adopt children. I love children, and anything that I can do for children who'd otherwise grow up in an unfortunate situation, I'd do. I feel adoption is Christ-like, and portrays the kind of love that Christ gives us...undeserved, sacrificial.

Beyond this point, I'd really have to say...just get to know me and see what I'm about. I'd love to get to know you!

Love,
Holly

Please describe your faith. How important is your faith to you?
I'd say God is constantly inside my head and heart; He's not somebody I can just brush off and put aside without paying dearly. I talk to Him a lot at random moments throughout the day. However, I don't daily read the Bible as much as I know I should, since nothing I really do in my spare time is structured or planned out. I also think church is important, because fellowship with other believers is vital for growth and encouragment.

Which Scripture verses are most important to you?
I cannot name just one! My favorite books are First and Second Corinthians, particularly 1 Corinthians 1:18-31. It's vital for someone like me, who's constantly being offered alternate "paths" and having people's "wisdom" pushed on me...but to realize that the wisdom of the world is foolishness keeps my faith intact and my head clear of confusing, contradictive philosophies.

Why is a Christian relationship so important to you?
I think a man and a woman should be a "unit" and should work together as a couple. If tow people have opposing beliefs, goals, and philosophies, their relationship with each other will suffer and their children will suffer, too. They will work apart and against each other rather than for and with each other. Since I'm a Christian, I don't want a non-Christian trying to stifle my relationship with the Lord. No "missionary" relationships, either!

Where did you grow up? Where have you traveled? What are some of your favorite places to visit?
I've grown up in Oregon my entire life, though in various parts. I was born in Portland and have lived in the mountainous parts of NE Oregon, the coast, and now in southern Oregon. I've been to mostly warm places such as California, Arizona, Florida, and Mexico. I'd like go go to the Czech Republic someday since it is part of my heritage.

What are your favorite activities both at Church and outside?
I definitely love home-group, with a smaller, family-sized group bringing worship, prayer, and fellowship to a closer level. I love Wednesday nights at the church I attend, where instead of just listening to a sermon, we go through scripture verse-by-verse and dig deeper into each verse. Yummy!

What is your day like? Describe your daily routine.
HA!! So boring! I wake up, eat breakfast and drink my coffee, shower, do my hair and makeup, put on work clothes, go to work where I work all day (acting crazy and sociable as usual), go home, eat and read the newspaper, surf the net, go to sleep. I also talk on the phone with my best friend or other people on occasion. On my days off I usually clean, do laundry, and sometimes get together to shop, eat out, or attend a movie with my friend or sister.

What are some of your personal and spiritual goals?
Spiritual goals: to get into a more routine-like habit as far as reading the Word of God and really making God even more of a best friend. Personal goals: to finish college. To spend my money more wisely. To spend less time on myself and more time with God, and that includes not spending hours on the internet like I am right now, filling this thing out!
