Hi, I am currently a freshman in my 5th year at UCLA, and I am studying to be a veterinarian because I really love . Smile! No, I am actually doing this because I can't sleep, and I don't meet many new people in my life right now, except for my students. But I have boundaries there that I am not about to cross. I can't sleep because school is about to start, and I never feel ready. Each year I think August will feel better, but that is yet to happen. I may teach, but I still work summers. I have been preparing, honest, but I don't think I ever feel ready until 3 weeks before the term is over. Who am I? I am someone who is still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. The best I can come up with is retired. So, I just trust, wait, and pray. Somday I will get that neon sign saying "go this way!" I like to learn, I like to read, and I like meaningful work. Teaching has been good for these reasons. I keep busy. My family is important to me. One of my nieces spent a week with me this summer (4th year in a row), another niece almost 2, and her brother a long weekend. Maybe someday, I will be a mom. I knit, I quilt, I putter around the yard, and I put mowing the lawn off as long as I can, until the neighbors start avoiding eye contact, really. I own a lot of books. So, I guess if manicured lawns and neat rows of few books are important to you, I am not that person.
