How is it possible, Lord...
that I could have shared a greater intimacy with you in the 'youth' of my faith than I do now...?
Did you seek me more ardently then? When I was yet unencumbered by experience and the impact of others?
Was I more ready to accept you, blindly...? unmindful of potential implications or judgements against me?
Are the hours we spent, one on one, as sweet a memory to you as to me? Do you long, as I do, for a return to that time? A time without question or complication...a headlong rush into the all encompassing wind...followed by languish within the drenching peace that follows such intense cleaving...
Will you have me...again? After these many years of this...dancing...? Sometimes madly... sometimes in perfect rhythm...and yet sometimes...in separate worlds....you waiting patiently for me to remember the simple steps... and I raging that you are not as easy to follow as those within this more tangible world... yet remembering the perfect flow of the spirit when that incredible union occurs...
We are becoming old...you and I...familiar with each other...gently touching when apart, assuring constancy...looking around sharp corners, attaining the completeness associated with an established love...knowing it is time to come together once again...as you blow gently on the embers...I begin to rise...aware that my love is calling...longing to run, but holding myself to a studied pace....I have so missed this time of reunion...and the walks that follow...being lost in your words, your beckoning, your joy simply in my presence...
Will you have me again, Lord? For I have missed you...and I have come home...simply because I love you....

Hey Mom....
When you thought I wasn't looking...
I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator-and I immediately wanted to paint another
I saw you feed a stray cat-and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals
I saw you make my favorite cake for me-and I learned that the little things are the special things in life
I heard you say a prayer-and I learned there is a God I can always talk to and I learned to trust in Him
I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick-and I learned that we all need to take care of each other
I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing-and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't
I felt you kiss me goodnight-and I felt loved and safe
I saw you take care of our home and everyone it it-and I learned we have to take care of what we are given
I saw how you handled your responsibilites, even when you didn't feel good-and I learned that I would need to become responsible when I grew up
I saw tears come from your eyes-and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry
I saw that you cared-and I wanted to be everything that I could be
When you thought I wasn't looking....I learned most of the life lessons I needed to know to become a good person

...amazing that it has taken me 41 years to finally realize that no matter how we try to explain 'who' we are...what we believe...where our hearts live...how our minds conceive and when we came to actually 'be'...
we can only be 'perceived', initially, by the one receiving the description that we alone own...
for regardless of what is 'real'...what they will 'see'...is what they formulate in their mind from what they have 'heard'...
unfortunately...so few choose to use their hearts to 'listen' to the rivers running in between the words...
Perhaps that is why so many of us wander parched...
