I inputed grades into the computer yesterday for report cards, and for the first time all year, I have five students with an "A" for science and social studies. Two in my homeroom. It has been weird this year, because I am so used to having more with A's.
We are finishing up with final reviews for the state tests that the take next week. It is hard to tell how many will try and pass the tests. We have a few who do not care and it shows. Some will try hard and others will not.

A couple of things happened over this weekend. The first one at work on Friday. I was on planning period, and I checked my email to find out about something. There was one, where friend's accepted Christ, and I made a comment about it to my reading partner and she wanted to know what that meant. From that email I was able to witness to her. I thought that was cool and praised the Lord for it.
The other thing happened today. I was supposed to meet somebody and was stood up. I had to drive a bit of distance to meet. Before I left to meet this person, we were talking and somehow the call ended, and I couldn't get back in touch with that person. It is a rude, hurtful thing to stand somebody up, who makes the effort in driving to meet. I was interested in meeting this person. That kinda ruins the weekend. I have given it over to the Lord, but still hurt.

I had a student this week, turned in all three homework assignments and turned in his absent work. Plus, he had his dad signed his progress report. That is the first time all year, for him to do that. I made a big deal about it.

Today is the day, we think about when Christ died on the cross. I was thinking about it this morning, while lying in bed. Christ was up all night, first praying in the garden, then being sent back in forth between Pilate and the High Priest, in his "trial", before being whipped. By that time, he couldn't have had any energy at all. We was made to carry his cross until he couldn't any more.
I wonder what Simon of Cyrene was feeling and thinking when he carried Christ's cross for him. I wonder if he stood their and watched him be crucified. Was he around when the news spread on Sunday about Christ rising from the grave. What was passed down to family members over time, about that day?
I will never know what it cost God to see my sin upon that cross. I like that song, that line comes from, makes me think about what Christ went through for me, so that I can spend eternity with him in heaven.
Father, thank you for your plan to save us. I know it was tough to watch was going on this day, so long ago, but thank you for it.

Yesterday was Palm Sunday. (Got to be in church with my mom, first time in 6 years, since family is in OH, and I am in TX.) Yesterday, was the day, we think about Christ riding into Jersalum on a donkey, and the crowd waving palm leaves and shouting, "Hosana!". Christ knew what was going to happen and still died for my and your sins anyways. He knew what the crowd was going to say and do, He knows what we are going to say and do. Yesterday's sermon was on "The Cross" and we had communion. Are you an admirer or a follower of Jesus? That is what Pastor Gary asked us in the sermon.
At times, I say I am an admirer and other times, a follower. Thinking about what Christ went through on that cross, so that I do not have to die for my sins, so that I can spend eternity with him in Heaven. At times, I like to think back to the first Easter and first Christmas, and praise God for his plan. Without Christmas, there wouldn't be Easter. This is a wonderful time of the year.

Easter

Easter is soon here. It is early this year. I can't remember the last time Easter was in March. The saying at Christmas time, that says "Jesus is the reason for the season" also is for Easter. If it weren't for Christmas, and Jesus obeying his Father, we wouldn't be celebrating Easter. My pastor started a three week sermon series yesterday, entitled "The cup, the cross, and the cage". Yesterday it was on the cup, and they used scences from "The Passion of Christ", especially when he was praying in the garden. I love Easter, and thinking about what Jesus did for me on the cross. I am very grateful for what he did. I know the biggest way I can worhsip Jesus is trying to live my life in a way that glorifies him. My goal is that people do not see me, but that they see Christ instead of me.
For those of you who reads this, I hope Easter is just as special for you as it is for me.

I am happy to be on spring break! I get a week away from my students. I need a break, especially after coming down with a cold this week. The weather is gorgeous right now. I hope we have nice weather this next week, especially since mom is coming down for a visit. I am so looking forward to seeing Mom. We have some plans made, already. Looking forward to going to the zoo, after I pick her up at the airport. I still have a lot of cleaning to do before then, plus work on my homework for gradschool. I have a project that I haven't even started on. But it is spring break!

Why don't students take school seriously?

This week is benchmark week. I gave the social studies today. They weren't taking it seriously. I told them that they weren't going to bomb it like they did the December test. They will look at it some more tomorrow. I taught everything that is on the test. Tomorrow, they are taking the science test.
It is like pulling teeth to get them to do well, to turn in homework. Then they get upset when they get bad grades. We tell them to pay attention and try, then they will do well.

This week my (students) are taking benchmarks. Two days of testing in my room, then two days of going over the tests. I told them that if they choose to bomb this one, like they did in December, I will put the grade into the grade book.
But what I am really looking forward to is spring break. During spring break, my mom comes down for a visit, and I love spending time with my mom. We are already planning on few things of what we will do. She will be here in 10 days.
Today's sermon was on envy and greed from the book of Proverbs. The next three weeks is about Easter.

Today was the Math Olympiad for my school district, that I teach in. (The team has a hard time practicing, because the Math Demo is also my Math partner.) The started testing 30 minutes late, and were done by 10:30. The math department used a new system for scoring the sheets and it took 4 hours. By the time they gave out the awards, it was 2:30 and they should've been done 30 minutes earlier. We did come away with two individual trophies for 6th grade for our area. We expected those and received them, 2nd and 3rd place. I took a couple of pics and will take more on Monday at school. I read both of my magazines while waiting and talked to my co-workers. I go to take pictures and put them in my scrapbook.
