DO YOU HAVE PET NAMES FOR YOUR PET?

In this case the answers may be just as strange as the question. Maybe I'm the only one, but does anyone else here call their pets by any other name than the one they have been given?
I have a cat- he has big green eyes, grey white and very fluffy- His name is Scout and he actually comes when I call for him or whistle- for real! He even rolls over- sooo cute!
I don't know why but I also call him by all sorts of things other than just his given name... Lately it's Shooby or sometimes Shubert or even Ki-Ki and it seems to change. In the past it's been Baby-Kitty or Coo-Coo Kitty or some other silly nonsense... I know crazy right?
And of course it's in that silly voice that pet owners use when they are bonding with their animals... when you say things like 'ohhhh- who's the kitty- who's the kitty- who's the great big fluffy kitty cat?'
If you haven't started rolling your eyes by now then you probably do this too- (you are probably rolling your eyes anyway) I love all animals and I used to have two dogs but now it's just me and Scout.
How about you... how do you interact with your animals... and what are some of your pet's pet names?

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE...

To one of my best friends... He has a smile that lights up my heart even though I may never get the chance to see him face to face. He is so often kind and patient and giving of himself to encourage me and so many others. Always an inspiration without even really trying- pointing people towards God's Love.
He is very down to earth and always full of these great, inspirational writings and poetry and he uses it to express his love for God and nature, music and the world around him. You can tell by his reverence and his writings that he loves the Lord with all the strength in his heart, mind, body, soul and spirit.
He's as smart as a whip and and also has a great deal of common sense. He works hard to improve his mind with his studies and is just as into God's word and improving himself spiritually as well as mentally and physically so that he can live his best life possible to honor God. I know that God must smile and be proud of you as His on a daily basis.
He has come to my rescue more than once when I was in danger of taking the comments of some not so nice blogger way too seriously and he never fails to do or say something that makes me laugh and helps me see the lighter side of things. I love your sense of humor and your compelling and quirky taste in music- it always makes me smile.
He helps, encourages and inspires me each day, to be more centered, positive and spiritually tuned in- makes me want to read and search the scriptures helps me to grow and flourish as a woman of God, one of my very best friends here.
It's very rare in my life that I have found a friend like you. You are someone who seems to understand the things I have to say the way so few people ever do... you care- so many people just do not care.
He is already a strong spiritual leader in his own right and loves people through all sorts of things no matter what. Constantly lifting up the fallen and being a beacon of compassion, hope and God's love. I know you are a caring and humble man so please understand with all of my heart that none of this is meant to embarrass you... so please receive it with an open and thankful heart just as it is given.
He tells me I am strong and I am a princess and he's one of the few people I could ever truly believe when it comes to this sort of thing because I know he's kind and trustworthy man. He's one of the few people here who acknowledges my strengths and nurtures them, sees my weaknesses and refrains from criticizing.
His words often give me courage to help me overcome the obstacles in my life so that I can become the woman God needs me to be. He compliments me often and on all levels in so many ways... in a way "He thinks I'm pretty, He thinks I'm smart, He likes my nerve and he loves my heart" but would probably never admit it in so many words.
He encourages me to use my talents to help and encourage others to be compassionate and to glorify God. Knowing him encourages me to follow my dreams and passions and to continuously surrender the desires of my heart over to God
He has shown me on a regular basis since I have known him that he loves and cares for me as a friend.
He also cares about many of the issues and things and the people that I care about. I couldn't let the rest of my life continue to go by without telling him so... you have touched my heart and my life. You have changed me as a person- it just wouldn't be right if I did not thank you and tell you so. I love you as a friend and I thank God for you each day!

A SUBCONSCIOUS FEAR OF REJECTION

I think I do this in my own life a lot. I was just talking to a friend of mine about this very thing the other night.
It would seem that sometimes we reject something or even someone out of fear of losing or being rejected... and many times we don't even realize that's what we are doing... until it's too late and the deed has been done.
I think it's an impulsive thing that most people do on a somewhat subconscious level because we are so wired by our way of life and the pace of society to try to be in control of everything.
We just decide we want to get it over with because we percieve it as inevitable. I think we do most of this in our own minds through our own weaknesses and insecurities and God has very little to do with that.
As you know he has given us free-will and therefore He will not try to cross our will to force us to do His will.
We have to be able to get to a point where we can fully trust God and honestly surrender our will and the circumstances of our lives. When we do this our lives can then begin to unfold in a more fulfilling and beautiful way all within God's good timing.
We are then allowed to see the beauty of things in our lives blossom and come into fruition, and our lives are given the chance to become more of what they should be... but we have to be still, become centered and sensitive to the still, small voice of God's Holy Spirit and His leading.
I think it can almost seem counter-intuitive but it's when we do this... surrender it all and take our leap of faith into God's waiting, loving and open arms... that we can find ourselves surrounded by the abundance and provision of God's goodness and blessings instead of the tattered results of our own undoing.
When we do surrender everything- body, mind, soul, spirit- turn it all over and place it in God's powerful and loving hands... even our weaknesses can become strengths... and God's strength can become evident in our weakness.

WIDE EYED WONDER...

I believe that God longs to fulfill the desires of our hearts but I think we have to be faithful and consistent in asking and know that the desires we have there are the best for us in our lives. Sometimes we lose track and become disenchanted with the way our lives seem to be going- I know I have been there plenty of times.
For example... when you first get to know someone you are particularly drawn to it can be such a thrill and a rush. Everything is new and exciting and fun and life becomes more full with all of the posibilities of where this might be going...
Every day it seems there is something new to look forward to and life is full of sweet surprises especially every time you interact in any way... even a phone call and your heart starts to beat a little faster- you just feel more alive. Then after awhile things change...
Over time you get to know one another and you slowly begin to realize that this person is not as wonderful and perfect for you as you had first invisioned then to be... and slowly your expectations and dreams of your time together begin to fade. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss!
Life is like that in many ways and life is full of reality checks. When we think we have it figured out when it comes to life, the aspects there of, or even another person we really should remember that there is always more in store to see, learn and discover.
Life is always unfolding like a flower and if we try to force it... it can become a tattered mess. We have to trust God with our moments and the unfolding of our lives to be able to see it in a truly beautiful, joyful, and innocent way- the way He intends for it to be.

LOVE ... THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS TO ME

I think with love you have to have some basic ingredients like- acceptance, commitment, chemistry, connection, trust, respect and loyalty. True love will with-stand the test of time and grow stronger and deeper in the hard times. If it's not real and blessed by God it won't last... and it seems the real thing is becoming harder and harder to find in this crazy mixed up world.
We are all human- we all have our flaws, but when we truly love someone the flaws are minimized because with love and acceptance you learn the importance of forgiveness. When the relationship is good, beneficial and healthy you are able to focus more on what's good it's easier to see your beloved through loving eyes and this gives love a chance to take root and grow. God is Love and He must be honored in any Love relationship.
When Christ is at the center and there is a mutual, healthy, loving connection with someone you are really attracted to I think that makes it easier to accept them flaws and all. I also think when two people are in a good, healthy relationship you will bring out the best in one another. Every couple is going to argue every now and then- that's normal. If on the other hand you are in something where you are constantly tearing each other apart- it's not love.

I HAD A LOT OF FUN AT KARAOKE...

You may or may not know this about me but singing is one of my passions in life. I was in a band years ago and there are times when I really miss it. I went to Karaoke last night and I had so much fun!
I've been singing karaoke for fun for years. It's not always fun, fun, fun for me all the time. Sometimes it can even be a bit of a drag if there's no one good to hang out with... but singing is always therapitic for me and it's how I make friends, and I have made some really good, loyal friends!
Last night was especially fun- I met this really, great guy- Ryan. He has red hair (as I told him I have thing for red heads) and a really cool and amazing personality and we so hit it off. When I would get up and sing he would even go with me... I've always hoped to meet and hit it off with a guy who likes karaoke as much as I do!
We just really had so much fun- I sang the Pat Benatar song Love Is A Battlefield- it was DJ's choice. It was so great- I'm usually pretty serious when I sing a song... now that I think about it maybe too serious- this guy helped me bring out my fun, lighter side... I have a good feeling and I think this could turn into a really good friendship
I was singing and dancing around with the microphone in a funny overly dramatic sort of way... almost in a mock tone to the video and he was going right along with me- it was great! He even had me dancing and two- stepping to other people's songs as well. This is something I haven't been able to do much of since my accident- but I am getting better now.
I think we are going to be friends because he just called a little while ago and we are going to see the movie Hellboy2 tonight! We both loved the original movie and we think the sequal should be pretty great... awesome- I'll keep you posted!

It's not Revolutionary and it has nothing to do with the signing of the Declaration of Independence... but it is a reflection of love and patriotism and fighting for what we believe in.
Love and war... It's a bit of romantic irony that this is a love song inspired in part by the violent re-birth of our nation during the Civil War. I was inspired to write this years ago after seeing the Civil War documetary by Ken Burns.
When it comes to war both men and women have given and sacrificed on and off the battle field. This song is a reflection of that-
