Le 19:33 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. Le 19:34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
These were two scriptures that were shared in today's message that stood out to me. While we do live in scary times we still have to carry a welcoming attitude. There are people in the world who will need help. They will need some kind of assistance. The word stranger does kind of carry a negative connotation in this day and age and there are dangerous people and people who will try to take advantage of you, but there are people who genuinely need help or maybe just a friendly spirit. And of course, God could always send and angel our way to see what we will do.

I thank God for a Great Day in the Lord. I was able to partake in some great fellowship and was able to share with some people I just met. God is great and I am thankful for his encouragement and many blessings.

The Prayer of Aberaham's Servant

For today's Bible reading I read Genesis Chapter 24. This is the Chapter where Abraham sent his servant to the land of his kindred to find a wife for his Issac. The servant did as Abraham told him and when he got to the land of Abraham's kindred,Mesopotamia, he sought the Lord and said a Prayer.
Genesis 24: 12 - 14 Ge 24:12 And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham. Ge 24:13 Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: Ge 24:14 And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.
The Bible teaches God answered the Prayer before the servant even had to finis it.
Genesis 24: 15-20 Ge 24:15 And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder. Ge 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. Ge 24:17 And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher. Ge 24:18 And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink. Ge 24:19 And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking. Ge 24:20 And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels.
As we read further we discover that God did indeed answer his prayer.
Genesis 24: 58-67 Ge 24:58 And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go. Ge 24:59 And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham's servant, and his men. Ge 24:60 And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them. Ge 24:61 And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way. Ge 24:62 ¶ And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country. Ge 24:63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming. Ge 24:64 And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel. Ge 24:65 For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself. Ge 24:66 And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done. Ge 24:67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.
So we see the servant asked God to show him something specific that would let him know that his prayer was being answered. There is another scripture in which someone asks God to show him that he is indeed following what God want him to do.
Judges 6:36 - 40 Jg 6:36 And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said, Jg 6:37 Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. Jg 6:38 And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. Jg 6:39 And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. Jg 6:40 And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.
So Gideon asked God to confirm that he was the one to deliver Israel and God confirmed.
In Matthew 21 the Lord Jesus taught us this.
Matthew 21:21-22 Mt 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. Mt 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
So God does answer prayer. It may not always be the answer we want but it will always be the answer we need. In a prayer meeting last night I have had to ask some things of the Lord. Now I must accept the challenge to believe that he will answer the prayers I pray. I must also look back to the Prayers and blessings that were answered in my own life and know that God will meet my needs. I hope this is encouraging.
