Revelation: End of days

Just before the start of the New Year the History Channel ran a 2 part series called "Revelation: End of Days". You may or may not have watched it. If you did than you know that it was a point of veiw on how the end days will happen. I can't say that I agree with the show's portrayal of how the end times will come down. I know it is based on a point of view, but I have read and heard other interpretations and ideas as to how the end will come. But there is one thing it did do for me; it made me think about how I need to be prepared and ready for when it does come down. When our Lord comes again I want to be prepared and ready with oil in my lamp ready to receive the bride groom. I had to think about what I had in my house and what I need to get out of it.
Matthew 24: 12 - 18 says
Mt 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mt 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mt 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Mt 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand: )
Mt 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Mt 24:17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Mt 24:18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

I think about how Jesus taught how we must be prepared for his soon return. In Matthew 25: 1 - 13 It says this
Mt 25:1 ¶ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Mt 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Mt 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Mt 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Mt 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Mt 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Mt 25vs7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Mt 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Mt 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Mt 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Mt 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Mt 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Mt 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the of man cometh.
Then I looked at this scripture
I Corinthians 15: 51 - 52
1Co 15:51 ¶ Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed

So, I think the show helped me to think about the fact that the Lord will come quickly. He will come and I want to be prepared when that day does come. The show itself I think was somewhat questionable. There are different ways of looking at Revelations and what the Bible says about how the end times will go down. But, after I watched it I did a lot of soul searching and a lot of praying and reading. I am thankful that it at least had that effect on me causing me to go into some great prayer and study time. A great way to bring the New Year in.

One more scripture for encouragement.
I Thessalonians 4: 13 - 18
1Th 4:13 ¶ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

I was going to originally put this in Forgotu's Blog. It was a great blog. But I decided to put this in my own post.
I have been thinking about this for awhile now. I am very discouraged by the attitude here in America and it really bothers me when I see clips of people in Washington and Colorado celebrating that they have got this stuff legalized. And, it blows me away that people really are that hard up to smoke the garbage. It is amazing how many people out there think there are no consequences but in my view they are wrong. And, unfortunately they are too intoxicated to think it all the way through. I really believe we are going to regret this push to legalize marijuana.
Something that the pro-marijuana people don't realize is that the dope of tomorrow will not be the same as the dope of 1969. Why do I believe that? Because so far it is only been legalized in Washington and Colorado. If things go the way they appear to be going eventually the majority of the states will have legalized it. (I hope not, but I am not optimistic). Once it is widely legalized,I believe things will really start to change. There will be big money to be made from America's addiction. The big corporations that the dope smokers claim to be against will want to tap into this new gold mine and they will get their hooks into it. Oh yeah, it will be big money. Once corporations do get into it, they will push your corner pusher, attic growers and back yard growers out of the market. If they are real good they may even find a way to produce a parasite or a virus that will kill off the varieties that someone might try to grow in their backyards. Trust me the nice hippy lady and the cool pusher guy wont be able to sell their stuff. They will be undersold by the big corporations who will willingly take a loss to push the little guys out. They will even find ways to produce it at less cost reducing any loss they might take.
And, if that is not enough, they will tax the heck out of it. 20%, 30% to buy and if you do grow it, you will be taxed for it. Trust me, they will do that. The taxes alone will make Mr. and Mrs Hippie abandon their crop. You won't be able to hide it. The IRS will find your crop. If they think you are growing it they will find you out.
Now, there are parents out there that are saying,"well, tobacco kills, pot doesn't". Guess what; you are still inhaling carbon and the pot damages your respiratory system. Guess what-else; The big companies who will now control the production of your favorite drug WILL certainly do things to it to make sure you continue to buy it. If the Government tells them to reduce the THC levels they will add all of the things that are presently found in your favorite cigarettes to make sure you will still buy it.I bet that will make it even more of a killer. They won't care if it is harmful to you. You pushed to have it legalized. Hey, you wanted it, they just made sure there was a supply to your demand. You knew there were risks to it, but you ignored the risks. You even denied the risks therefore their hands are legally clean before they even start production. OK America, you want to be stoned? Well look out, with every sin you want to partake in, there WILL be consequences.

Did God Intervene in the Superbowl?

Last night as I was going through stuff on the computer I stumbled on an article "Superclaim: God Intervened In Superbowl." The jist of the article was that God intervened and caused this massive defeat of the Denver Broncos because they had released Tim Tebow 2 seasons earlier and brought in Payton Manning. The article alleged that John Elway let Tim go because he did not like his Tebowing thing he did or the prayer thing and that he had some bad feelings against him. That is what is alleged. The article goes on to say that because Tim Tebow is God's servant God humiliated the Denver Broncos to avenge his servant.
Well, hmmm, that is interesting but; what about all the Denver Bronco fans? There are a lot of them who went to bed very dissapointed that night. Some maybe suffering some depression from it. I know when my team lost to the Denver Broncos in Superbowl 32 it took me a while to get over it. And at that time I was a baptized believing Christian who went to church services instead of staying home and watching the bowl that year. Was God punishing me?
Also, if God wanted to "avenge" Tim Tebow, wouldn't he have blessed his abilities to excel with the Jets or the Patriots, the two teams that brought him on after he was cut from the Broncos?
How about this, perhaps, the Denver Broncos just had a bad day. Maybe the Seahawks were just a better all around team that had more weapons an more hunger.
As for Tim Tebow, well keep him in prayer. Perhaps God wants him to do something other than football. Whatever that is we know God knows what that is.
As for us worrying about what Tim Tebow is doing right now here is a scripture that I thought about when thinking of this.

John 21:21 - 22
Joh 21:21 Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?
Joh 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.

Peter was asking Jesus about John the Disciple after Jesus has told him to feed his sheep than Jesus answered what is that to thee? follow thou me.
We need to do what God will have us to do. We need to make sure we are walking the path God had for us. Tim Tebow I am sure will seek God and if God wants to bless him and use him in the NFL I am sure that will happen. If God has something else for him then I pray that he will be open to Gods will and find peace in what his true calling is. As for me, I need to follow Christ as well and make sure I am in line with his will.
As for God intervening in the Superbowl, I am not really sure I buy that. I certainly can't say he didn't but I don't want to say he did either.

This week it came up twice in my life; the debate on God vs. Science.
First, I read and article where there was a debate between a creationist scientist and a secular scientist. It was evolution vs. creationism I guess. (I did not put a lot of time into reading the article). But, there was a debate regarding the subject.
Tonight on the way home there was another discussion on the topic of whether or not you could be a rationalist, creationist or both. I didn't listen to the program long. Once I go into my house I can't get the radio station anymore and I didn't want to put too much time into getting my computer booted up to listen to it so I didn't.
But, I have thought about this before and in the end I always come to the conclusion that God is the creator and that he created the universe the earth and all things. There is nothing science can really bring up that would change that. You see, if you are so into science then why can't you accept the idea of the existence of a greater being? If I were to take evolution at its face value I still would think there would be greater beings out there who are far more evolved than I. I still would think there has to be one that can cross the barriers of life and death and can tell us what we must do to be prepared.
You may say well, the Bible says the heavens and the earth were created in exactly 7 days, therefore that is the way it is. Well, I believe God is able to take billions of years and cram them into 7 days. Time is relative.

Psalms 90:1-4
¶ A Prayer of Moses the man of God.
Ps 90:1 Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
Ps 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
Ps 90:3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye of men.
Ps 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

In science they talk about all kinds of different things relating to time. They are now even saying that there are ways to "bend" time and distance.
Well I think our God is great enough to bend time and do even more. I also believe that he is powerful enough to create advanced worlds and civilizations. Jesus said "I go to prepare a place."
God is able to create heavens and the earth and he is able to give it a history.
The Bible is not a science book. It is the Word of God. A guide book to show us what we must do in this life to prepare for the next. God is not going to tell us how He did everything. We would not be able to wrap our minds around it. And I do not feel at all threatened by any scientific discoveries because in the end I know that it was God that did it.

Obama's speech; did I watch it? no.
No I did not watch it. As I told a friend of mine it will only get me angry. I look at the situation we are in today and I realize the solutions to our nations problems are simple, get back to God. And yet this nation is being seduced by spirits that pull people's attention away from God. We've get the answers they think but little do they know our help will only come from the Lord.
I pray for my nation's leaders; I do. Why? Because I believe that is what God would have me to do. Whether they submit to God's will or not is up to them. But I have to pray and ask God to bless this nation and to help me and my brothers and sisters get through these times we are in. In God there is always hope.

Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Psalms 144:15 Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.

Isa 51:1 ¶ Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.

Before I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ I used to see my self as a good guy. I didn’t lie, I wasn’t out robbing people and I wasn’t one of these part all night kind of guys so I thought of myself as being pretty good at the time. I was not aware that Jesus said in John 3 verse seven “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” I had heard of the term being born again but I thought that was for the people who were really out there. I was not aware that we are all in sin until we come to the acceptance of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Here is John three one through seven again.
Joh 3:1 ¶ There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
Joh 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Joh 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Joh 3-7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Jesus was not talking to someone that would be considered “bad”. He was talking to a ruler of the Jews. He was talking to someone that in the eyes of many led a very clean and righteous life no doubt. But Jesus brought it all back to him. He needed to be born again.
So, getting back to me in this day and age, I needed someone to expound the Word more perfectly unto me. I may have been good in my eyes but not in the eyes of the Lord. In fact the Bible says there is none good except God.

Matthew 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

It is amazing how God opens my eyes. I was remembering back to things I did that were hurtful to others. Things that I said that were not right. Attitudes that were way off. Yeah, so I wasn’t stooped in drugs. I wasn’t doing things that the world would consider bad per say but I was still not right with God. How thankful I am that he dealt with me and allowed me to come to the knowledge of his truth. I was remembering today what I was saved from and from where God brought me. I am very thankful to be where I am today. I am thankful that God pulled me out of my deception and brought me to the light.
While it is not good to beat myself up it is good to remember from where I came. It makes me thankful to know where I am today.

Before the Storm hits

I was getting in my car to go home tonight, and I turn on the radio. A program related to the news is on and it is telling about different things that are going on in the world today that will not be good for our future.
Then I get home and I am looking at a news magazine that I subscribe to and it is talking about various things that can't be good for our future.

Then I think of this story that I have heard some preachers tell and it goes something like this:
There were two ladies sitting on the porch of the house that they lived in. As they sat they notices the sky became dark and cloudy. The wind became very strong and forceful. Now rain began to fall and the trees were bending from the force of the wind. One lady became very scared and she looked to the other and noticed she sat there calmly. "Oh my!" said the one who to the other. "How can you sit there so calm like that? This storm is really bad! Don't you think we ought to pray!?" The other continued to sit calmly in her chair as she answered "I already have been praying. I prayed before the storm ever hit."

It reminds me one of the reasons we pray now. It is to be ready when the storms of life hit.

On another note here is a scripture I read before starting my day. It is Psalms 33. I was just going to put verse 12 but the whole thing is so good I had to put it all. Enjoy!
Psalms 33
Ps 33:1 ¶ Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
Ps 33:2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
Ps 33:3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
Ps 33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
Ps 33:5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
Ps 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Ps 33-7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.
Ps 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
Ps 33:9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
Ps 33:10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.
Ps 33:11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Ps 33:12 ¶ Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
Ps 33:13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
Ps 33:14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
Ps 33:15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
Ps 33:16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
Ps 33:17 An is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
Ps 33:18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
Ps 33:19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Ps 33:20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
Ps 33:21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
Ps 33:22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Psalms 46:1-5
Ps 46:1 ¶ God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Ps 46:2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Ps 46:3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
Ps 46:4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
Ps 46:5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

Psalms 61:1-4
Ps 61:1 ¶ Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
Ps 61:2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Ps 61:3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
Ps 61:4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.

Proverbs 18:10
Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

I was remembering when I was a small boy. I used to go places with my father. Places like the YMCA or Indian Guides or other such events. When I was with him I was never nervous or in fear because with him I felt safe.
As I got older the day came when I had to go places on my own or maybe just with my older brothers. I didn't have that same feeling of safety. Sometimes I would be downright scared. Now, I was still a , but I needed to learn to do things like swim lessons or do other things where the parents weren't there. Then I didn't have that safe feeling until I got used to the feeling that everything was alright.
You may be wondering what does that have to do with anything. Well I am thinking about the safety we have in Christ. It may not be a physical safety all of the time but it is the confidence of knowing that when we lean on him and we seek him he will see us through. In all of my time of being a Christian I was never put through anything I could not handle. God guided me and directed me and I am sure there were things that did and did not happen because he was watching over me. I have a heavenly father who watches out for me and I know that I am safe. The good news here is I don't have to worry about going anywhere without him if I abide with him.

Friday night January 17th we had a men's prayer meeting. Before the meeting began the man that was leading the prayer meeting shared 2 scriptures to set the meeting in the right direction.

Luke 18:1-8
Lu 18:1 ¶ And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
Lu 18:2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
Lu 18:3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
Lu 18:4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
Lu 18:5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
Lu 18:six And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
Lu 18:seven And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
Lu 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

And the second scripture was.
Acts 4:29-32
Ac 4:29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
Ac 4:30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy Jesus.
Ac 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Ac 4:32 ¶ And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

It was the last verse of the second scripture that really caught me as he was reading it. I always thought of all thing common as being the natural things. Food, clothing, money, housing and any of the natural things that man needs to survive. But when he ready this scripture this time I say in a new way. Before he read these scriptures we went around the room and spoke out different needs that were in our lives or perhaps in the ministry or elsewhere. But, the scripture said "they had all things common" so, if that still applies today then when a Christian brother or sister has a need that is spiritual or needs prayer then it is my need too. I should have that understanding when someone else in the body of Christ is burdened with something then, we, in the body of Christ share that burden. Then we must prayer for that burden. So, while it is important to pray for my needs I still must remember the needs of others. Burdens I may not realize are there, are all common. So I need to keep them in prayer as they were my own.

PS: in the first scripture I had to spell out six and seven because the site kept turning the numbers into emoticons
