DEAR LORD

IN THE BATTLE THAT GOES ON THROUGHOUT LIFE, I ASK BUT A FIELD THAT IS FAIR, A CHANCE THAT IS EQUAL TO ALL IN THE STRIFE, THE COURAGE TO DO AND TO DARE. AND IF I SHOULD WIN, LET IT BE BY THE CODE, WITH MY FAITH AND MY HONOR HELD HIGH; AND IF I SHOULD LOSE, LET ME STAND BY THE ROAD, AND CHEER AS THE WINNER GOES BY.

AMEN

Probabaly the greatest example of persistance is ABRAHAM LINCOLN. If you want to learn about somebody who didn't guit, look no further.

Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughtout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown.

He could have guit many times----- but he didn't and because he didn't guit he became one of the greastest presidents in the history of our country.

1816 His family was forced out of their home.
He had to work to support them.
1818 His mother died.
1831 Failed in business.
1832 Ran for state legislature------ lost
1832 Also lost his job--- wanted to go to law school but couldn't get in.
1833 Borrowed some money from a friend to begin a business and by the end of the year he was bankrupt. HE SPENT THE NEXT 17 YEARS OF HIS LIFE PAYING OFF THE DEBT.
1834 Ran for state legislature again--- won.
1835 Was engaged to be married, sweetheart died and his heart was broken.
1836 Had a total nervous breakdown and was in bed for six months.
1838 Sought to become speaker of the state legislature---defeated.
1840 Sought to become elector----- defeated.
1843 Ran for congress ---- lost
1846 Ran for congress again--- this time he won---went to washington and did a good job.
1848 Ran for re-election to congress--- lost
1849 Sought the job of land officer in his home state ---rejected
1854 Ran for senate of the UNITED STATES----lost
1856 Sought the Vice-Presidntial nomination at his party's national convention - got less than 100 votes.
1858 Ran for U.S Sentate again ---again lost
1860 ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATE.

The sense of obligation to continue is present in all of us.

THE PATH WAS WORN AND SLIPPERY. MY FOOT SLIPPED FROM UNDER ME, KNOCKING THE OTHERS OUT OF THE WAY, BUT I RECOVERED AND SAID TO MYSELF," It's a slip and not a fall."

RISKING

Two seeds lay side by side in the fertile spring soil.

The first seed said,"I WANT TO GROW! I want to send my roots deep into the soil beneath me, and thrust my sprouts through the earths's crust above me... I want to unfurl my tender buds like banners to announce the arrival of spring.... I want to feel the warmth of the sun on my face and the blessing of the morning dew on my petals!"

AND SO SHE GREW

The second seed said, "I am afraid. If I send my roots into the ground below, I don't know what I will encounter in the dark. If I push my way through the hard soil above me I may damage my delicate sprouts.... what if I let my buds open
and a snail tries to eat them? And if I were to open my blossoms, a small may pull me frrom the ground. No, it is much beter for me to wait until it is safe."

AND SO SHE WAITED

A yard hen scratching around in the early spring ground for food found the waiting seed and promptly ate it.

An old man stood on a virginia riverbank many years ago. He was waiting to cross the river and, since it was bitterly cold and there were no bridges, he would have to "catch a ride" to the other side. After a lengthy wait he spotted a group of horsemen approaching. He let the first one pass, then the second, third, fourth, and fifth. One rider remained. As he drew abreast, the old man looked him in the eye and said "Sir, would you give me a ride across the river?"

The rider immediately replied, "certainly."
once across the river, the old man slid to the ground, "Sir, the rider said Before leaving." I could not help but notice that you permitted all the other men to pass without asking for a ride. Then, when I drew abreast, you immediately asked me to carry you across. I am curious as why you didn't ask them and you did ask me."
The old man guietly responded, " I looked into their eyes and could see no love and knew in my own heart it would be useless to ask for a ride. But when I looked into your eyes, I saw compassion, love and a willingness to help. I knew you would be glad to give me a ride across the river."

The rider was touched. "I'm grateful for what you are saying," he said. "I appreciate it very much." with that, THOMAS JEFFERSON turned and rode off to the white house. Ziglar reminds us that our eyes are the windows of our souls.

WHAT DO MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY SEE IN MY EYES?

WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IN MY LIFE: JUSTICE, COMPASSION,LOVE,FAMILY, GOD....?

IF I HAD BEEN A RIDER THAT DAY, WOULD THE OLD MAN HAVE ASKED ME FOR A RIDE?

SUCCESS IS NOT STRAIGHT.

THERE IS A CURVE CALLED FAILURE,
A LOOP CALLED CONFUSION,
SPEED BUMPS CALLED FRIENDS,
RED LIGHTS CALLED ENEMIES,
CAUTION,LIGHTS CALLED FAMILY
YOU WILL HAVE FLATS CALLED JOBS.
BUT IF YOU HAVE A SPARE CALLED DETERMINATION
AN ENGINE CALLED PERSEVERANCE
INSURANCE CALLED FAITH
A DRIVER CALLED HEAVENLY FATHER YOU WILL
MAKE IT TO A PLACE CALLED SUCCESS.

AND HE PUT FORTH THE END OF THE ROD, AND DIPPED IT IN THE HONEYCOMB. AND HE CARRIED HIS HAND TO HIS MOUTH AND HIS EYES WERE ENLIGHTENED 1 SAMUEL 14:27

MY ,EAT HONEY, FOR IT IS GOOD ; AND LET SWEET COMB HONEY BE UPON YOUR PALATE. PROV 24:13

AND THEIR FATHER ISRAEL SAID UNTO THEM, IF IT MUST BE SO NOW DO THIS; TAKE OF THE BEST FRUITS IN THE LAND IN YOUR VESSELS, AND CARRY DOWN THE MAN A PRESENT ,A LITTLE BALM, AND A LITTLE HONEY, SPICES, AND MYRRH, NUTS AND ALMONDS. GENESIS 43:11

CENTURIES BEFORE SUGAR BECAME WIDELY AVAILABLE, SWEET HONEY WAS USED TO ENHANCE THE FLAVOR AND PALATABILITY OF FOODS. PREHISTORIC PAINTINGS DEPICT EARLY MAN GATHERING WILD HONEY IN MUCH THE SAME MANNER AS IT IS GATHERED TODAY.

HONEY WAS ONE OF THE FEW PRESERVATIVES KNOW TO THE ANCIENTS. IN ADDITION TO ITS USE AS A FOOD ADDITIVE IT WAS ALSO CONSIDERED A POWERFUL SOURCE OF RESURRECTION MAGIC. PAGAN TRIBES IN THE MEDITERRANEAN ONCE PLACE THEIR DEAD IN A FETAL POSITION AND EMBALMED THEM IN A JAR OF HONEY SO THAT THEY COULD AWAIT A REBIRTH IN HEAVEN. CHRISTIAN MYTHOLOGY SAYS THAT BEES HAVE THEIR ORIGIN IN THE TEARS CHRIST SHED DURING THE CRUCIFIXION

IN THE BIBLE, 'HONEY' CAN REFER TO THE PRODUCT OF BEES OR TO A SWEET SYRUP MADE FROM GRAPES OR DATES.

THE GREAT MEDICINE
HONEY IS NOT JUST GOOD , IT'S GOOD FOR YOU. AN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN SCROLL LISTED MORE THAN 500 REMEDIES THAT INCLUDE HONEY AS ONE OF THE INGREDIENTS. MODERN SCIENCE BACKS UP THIS FOLK WISDOM. HONEY HAS BEEN PROVEN TO KILL HARMFUL BACTERIA IN THE DIGESTIVE TRACT AND WHEN RUBBED INTO MINOR WOUNDS, IT HELPS THEM HEAL FASTER. A TABLESPOON OF HONEY IN A GLASS OF MILK AT BEDTIME CAN HELP FIGHT INSOMNIA, AND THERE IS PROMISING NEW RESEARCH THAT IT CAN HELP ALLEVIATE ASTHMA SYMPTOMS.

PLEASANT WORDS ARE AS AN HONEYCOMB, SWEET TO THE SOUL, AND HEALTH TO TH BONES. PROV 16:24

HONEY WINE

1/2 CUP HONEY
1 BOTTLE DRY WHITE WINE

HONEY HAS THE POWER TO MAKE US FEEL BETTER BY IMPROVING OUR MOOD AND THINK BETTER BY STIMULATING THE PART OF THE BRAIN RESPONSIBLE FOR LEARNING.

THANK YOU ALL HONEY BEES
