Ok, so I'm not very creative...

I have just over a month left on my one year membership on BC so I decided to change the colors on my blog. I was tired of "BigChurch" fuchsia. So, what do you think? (Be nice, my creativity was stifled by the limitations of the BC color palette)
Also, I changed my blog title from "Daily Ramblings" to simply "Ramblings". Someone recently pointed out to me my ramblings are no longer daily, so I thought I would make the title more accurately correlate with the content.
Ok, that's my rambling for today...

WHY all the CONTENTION and my APOLOGY

If I have offended anyone with any of my posts or comments on somebody else's post, I apologize.
I would be happy to apologize personally and privately if you email me and let me know how I have offended you.
Having said that, I do want to say that we live in a fallen world. There will never be a peaceful utopia until Christ returns and reigns on this earth.
There are daily discussions, debates and accusations about many differing belief systems here. Calvinism. Free-will. Security. Predestination. Word of Faith. Tongues. Catholicism. Anglican. Adventists. Need I go on?
Each person believes their's is the one that is right. The teachings are ingrained in us and to have these ideologies challenged quickly moves us out of our comfort zones. Thus, discussions on these matters become contentious and people get their feelings hurt.
The bottom line is simply - NO ONE "movement" has it 100% correct. These "systems" of belief are of man. Man is fallen. Man is imperfect.
Thankfully, we have a sovereign God Who is omnipotent, omnicious and omnipresent. He cannot be "put in a box" and explained. Isaiah said "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55 : 8 , 9)
When we get our arms around the FACT that God cannot be explained, but He CAN be experienced in a personal way, then we will have our eyes opened. Until then, we will be stuck in man made limitations on a limitless God.
Bottom-line: disagreements on belief systems will continue until we sit at the feet of the Teacher, Jesus Christ, in His Kingdom.
"That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2 : 7 - 9

...and I thank God. First, I thank him that the thief took my wallet and not my life. Secondly, I thank God that even though the thief took all I had, I didn't have much to take. Thirdly, I thank God that I was the one robbed and not doing the robbing."

My two weeks of travel has ended. Thankfully I'm home, I think, until I leave for Vegas May 3. It was so good to be home I fried chicken, mashed potatoes, cooked corn and green beans, and baked rolls...mmm, mmm, good.
Now I need to go kick my feet up...has anyone missed me?

Lessons from missed planes and Starbucks spilled on laptops...

I missed my flight out of Nashville Tuesday. I can blame it on the construction delays on I-24, but the reality is I simply didn't leave early enough. It was my fault.
While waiting four hours for the next flight I went to Starbucks to get comfort in a sugary coffee drink...and a blondie. First thing I did when I sat down...spill that coffee all over my laptop. I could blame Starbucks for giving me an unstable cup and a wobbly table, but the reality is I was careless. It was my fault.
When the flight arrived I was supposed to be on, they announced it had a hydraulic leak and there would be a delay. I was thinking, don't rush it take your time. I know what goes up must come down, but I really prefer coming down safely. They ended up having to find a different jet.
I eventually made it to my hotel...I attended meetings from 7:00 AM until 6:30 PM with four hours of sleep. Did I say boring meetings? Did I mention monotone speakers? The warm room? I'm saying I struggled to stay awake.
I spent my spare time after the meeting trying to repair my laptop - to no avail. After cleaning it with quick drying electric contact cleaner it seamed to work fine...with the exception of the "e" and "r" keys. Have you ever realized how often you use those two letters. I couldn't even log on to check my email.
Then if began giving me the dreaded blue screen with white flashing letters "Fatal Error" - "Microsoft is shutting your computer down. If this problem continues, please report it to..." Report what? That I spilled coffee on it?
Well I went out tonight and bought a new laptop. If I can have my Starbuck laptop fixed, I'm going to give it to my youngest . If not...
Anyhow, in retrospect I'm laughing. Everything turned out ok in the end. I got a new laptop. Kinda reminds me of homegoing. One of these days, after all the mistakes I've made in my life, Jesus will welcome me home and give me the rewards for my labors here. It will be worth if after all...just to see Jesus and fall at His feet. And the reward won't be a laptop.
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory" 2 Corinthians 4:17

...after a four hour kayak trip yesterday, I am sunburned!!! I never had a sunburning problem until I began taking medication for hypertension...so, I've never had the need to wear sunscreen.
I'm getting better at remembering now though...but yesterday, I managed to get sunscreen on my face...but in the rush of getting myself and seven out the door I forgot my legs and arms...
ouch...
