Why The Lord Divorced And Married Again

Because of the unfaithfulness of gross idolatry, God divorced Israel, His covenanted wife from the time of Mt. Sinai' receiving of the 10 commandments, and sent Israel into exile, calling her an whoring wife because of unspeakable idolatry. Israel was no longer His wife by the old covenant, and has not been His wife since, and only will be again through the new covenant agreement He makes with the world through Jesus Christ, His , whom they crucified.

The past marriage agreement or covenant God made with Israel failed badly on Israel's part from idolatry. The broken agreement was officially discarded, and Israel was sent away from the homeland to exile in Babylon. The purpose of this agreement made at Mt. Sinai between the Lord and Israel, was to have a nation of people ready to receive Jesus His . But this was not to be. The divorced nation could not and would not become ready, even with John The Baptist shouting in the desert.

After Jesus Crucifixion and resurrection, they were further exiled and scattered around the world for many centuries. The sacrifices in the temple have stopped for over 2,000 years. The temple is long gone. The old covenanted relationship was broken, divorced, and discarded never to be again.

This is why Jews today can not tolerate Christianity and Judaism together because they have to relive the divorce all over again. Any jewish family member, even today, who accepts Christianity is exiled from their family immediately, and considered dead. Israel accepts tourists dollars for sure, and respects Christianity as a religion, but will have no personal part of it. Israel is left in a bad way today because they have not their former Husband, or a true functioning Judaism. There is no temple, no daily sacrifice, and the Golden Gate is walled up with an Arab cemetery in front of it.

Yet, Paul prayed for Israel, and wished for their reconciliation. He would gladly have given his own life for their return to God, but through Jesus. It should be our prayer and everyone that Israel, God's ex wife, will someday return, but by way of Jesus, into the new marriage agreement that we call the New Testament. Paul, the Apostle, said if this happens the world will be astounded at the positive and wonderful affects of this on the whole world. If us gentiles are wonderfully accepted through Jesus, how much more wonderful will it be when the original Jewish nation of Israel comes back through Jesus!

The marriage covenant is based on the agreement to love, honor, cherish....etc. Once this agreement has been adulterated or the purity has been polluted then obviously the agreement has been violated and is no longer in force. Sexual violations are obvious pollutants, and are also other forms of abuse, like physical, emotional, assault, fraud, and others? The agreement then has lost its purity and is broken. People are then, I believe and according to Jesus, free because of unfaithfulness to move on. Otherwise we are forced to keep an adulterated, polluted agreement which has been violated.

God faced this problem with Israel in the Old Testament . Because of their gross violations of the covenant Israel made with God at Mt. Sinai, the Lord finally divorced them, sent them into exile and afterward let them return to the Holy Land only to receive Jesus who would have given them a new marriage covenant, but they crucified Him. Yet, this new marriage covenant is available still for the Israel, and for the world. But it is based on Jesus sacrifice, not our law keeping sacrifices. Some people want to be law keepers still, rather than Jesus keepers. Let them. Their frustrations are well deserved.

Jesus at the last supper instituted this new marriage between the Lord and the whole world, saying this cup is the new marriage agreement in my blood, and this bread is my body given for you. All sins are covered in this agreement. All that we, Jew and Gentile, have to do is accept. This is too simple for some people. They say there is nothing left to do. It's all free. However, there are sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving left for us to do. And there is the daily choices of good rather than evil that are presented to us.

The Blame Game

The blame game is not Jesus' Game. How many times must I forgive my brother, seven times, asked Peter of Jesus? No, not seven times, but seven times seventy. As often as your brother wants to repent to you, and start over again, you must let him.

This is the way of the Lord. Jesus is not about blame. He is about starting over again. He is about another chance. Guilty people are about blaming, accusing, sentencing, judgment. We need to focus not on the wrong in people's life, but what is right for them to do. As long as time itself, we can ask God for a new start, a chance again to begin. He will never keep us down, but will always reach out a helping hand to receive us, stabilize us, and restore us. Again and again we can begin. We can not exhaust God's mercy as long as we want it. The sun will stop shinning and the universe stop expanding before God will not receive our repentance and wish to begin anew. The point is that mercy of the Lord is endless. His love is endless. He has no limit to anyone who wants His grace, blessing, and a new start.

Jesus is all about where do we go from here? What do we do now? Sin, though an important question, is a mute question compared to living in the light now. When we are healed of our sickness, it is then nonsense to focus back on the sickness to wallow in it. We need to live again, and get on with our life. If we fall back into a sickness, we need only to fix it, and be well again, then move on the the issues of living.

Jesus is about smiling, not blaming. His smile is always and forever available to anyone who want it again and again through the eons of time and beyond.
