This weather is so cold and wet and mucky that I have just decided to light a warm fire and make a big ol pot of slow simmered beef stew.

I can imagine that the Kingdom of Heaven is kinda like a big ol pot of slow simmered beef stew...,
we can't all be carrots, or onions or peas or potatoes &c., can we?
But golly gee when you get them all together in a big ol pot full of seasonings and simmer it a for a while what a fantastic combination!

Too bad I don't have any okra to put in it,
but it will be nice anyways because all of the other necessary ingredients are here.

Sure wish you guys weren't so far away it would be nice to share with ya'll.

Ridiculous Weather

Chris and I were having our usual cup of hot tea this morning watching the weather forecast to see what to expect today.
We couldn't make heads nor tails of the ambiguous delivery by the weather lady.
No wonder it didn't make sense, none of the weather we have had today makes any sense.

Woke up at 6: 30 it was normal, a bit chilly, but seemed to be the start of a typical day.

Around 9: 00 it started to snow flake a bit, that turned into drizzle.

Nearing 10: 00 it was sun shiny with strong winds.

Round about 11: 00 pea sized hail started to fall out of the sky while it was still sun shiny with strong winds.

Course about noon it stopped and looked as if it would return to normal again but not too long after that it began to rain which turned into more snow flaky stuff which soon stopped.

Well, now it is 1: 00, it is overcast with strong winds and I am not sure what it is going to do next.

Oooooot, looks like the sun is trying to peak out again,
nope, hold on, it's strong winds and more drizzle....,

Philosophic Rantings Of A Deterministic Soul

During the course of my lifetime,
with all of my apprehensions and fears of the failure
and terrors and trials I would encounter
as I traveled the arduous journey
through the deep valley of the shadows of death
and decisively pursued the pathway
to reaching the promised land of Zion;
no matter whatever or whoever
would possibly try to come between me and my search
to find Almighty God in heaven
I was resolute
not to just follow any route I was offered by man
and my intent of purpose was never to turn back
or slumber at any given point in my course,
to ever backtrack to where other men have trodden and failed
or return to where I first began my journey.

I wonder how many there are who hear of salvation,
and claim it for themselves,
but yet are not actually in the one true way of it?

I wonder if it is because what they seem to know
has been passively formed and conformed
whereby they believe general ideas and practices
and hold their limited views of salvation
in a contextual void of any perfect power.

I wonder if theirs is a knowledge in which God's exact Will,
His incomparable course of action towards the mercy of mankind
and the human soul passes for worth of little or nothing to God.

I wonder if it is because they have dimly seen,
but have not yet fully tasted
that the good Lord is all powerful,
His love is unfailing
and His mercy endures unto all generations.

I wonder if it is because they have taken up their belief
and accepted it without either consistency towards others
or the extreme love and tenderness of our Messiah,
just as if they had accepted anything
that had happened to be first presented them
by the doctrines of common man.

I wonder if it is because
in the acquisition of this priceless treasure of complete unity,
they haven't employed some worthless power and limited ability
conceived through the hearts of man,
never even scratching past the mere surface
to the depths of an uncompromising God
Who's seed stirs within every soul.

I wonder if it is because,
weighted upon the shoulders of the condemned
and unworthy victims
of dominating influence called prejudice
and exclusion and privelege and custom,
or supported along with ease on that resonate and thundering carriageway
called human logic,
they have carried out a relaxed journey
through avoiding many trials and tribulations
which they ought to have executed with their bare feet,
or rather on their wounded knees,
crossing over rivers and deserts
and sharply cutting stones and glass,
through needling briars and thrashing thorns
to carry the full load of their burden of iniquity
to the Lord of our salvation
into the land of complete deliverance
borne by the death and blood of Jesus Christ.

They worship vain things and empty purposes
and pray to a foreign God which profits nothing.
We worship before the King of the kings of the kings
Whom has stretched out the heavens and laid out the foundations of the earth
and His strength is unfailing.
He is our God and no ther other is there but He.
Have we not all one Father, hasn't one God created us all?

The 'Alenu Prayer:

Therefore we hope in Thee, O Lord our God;
that we may speedily see the true glory of Your might,
when You remove the abominations from the earth
and the idols of man shall be utterly cut off;
when the world shall be set right in the Kingdom of the Almighty;
and all the of flesh shall call upon Your Holy name.
When You will turn unto Yourself all the hearts of the wicked of the earth,
that all the inhabitants of the world may perceive and know that to You,
every knee must bow,
every tongue shall swear.
Before You, Oh, Lord our God,
let them bow and fall down;
and to the glory of Your great Name let them give honour.
And let them take upon themselves the yoke of Your Kingdom,
and shall You reign over us all for ever and ever.
For the Kingdom is Yours
and forever and ever shall You reign in glory.

Luke 2:10 And the angel said, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

Ya'll please forgive me, I got off on a tangent of thought while I was working on the quilt this morning.
My soul often stirs with questions of the plans of our God, "It is You, only You; how long, Oh, Lord, how long shall it be until mankind perceives the entirety of Your might?"

Gee, Time Flies

While we were having our usual cup of tea this morning, Chris and I were talking about how strange it is that time is just flying by these days.

That got me to thinking this morning as I was sewing on the quilt, listening to my compilation CD and meditating on the scriptures in Matthew 10: 5-23 that God has laid heavy on my heart while I wait for the rest of my supplies to arrive from the states so I can continue with my research work.

I thought about Big Church, all the friends and cool people I have met here and all the wonderful things I have learned from my fellowship with others.

Time is flying, the Lord is coming soon; and I am so pleased for the opportunity to share faith and life stories with you. What will be even more exciting is that time when we shall all be able to sit along the brook in front of my treehouse in heaven and share even more compelling thoughts and ideas and perhaps even enjoy the company of Paul, Job and a couple of my other favorites like Solomon, and maybe Mary.

You guys are the best and just in case I haven't told you lately here is a special, "Thank You" for your kindness and wisdom and sharing of faith.

Today I have been burning my favorite songs from my CD collection onto a compilation CD so I don't have to keep changing my CD's everytime I get in the mood to hear my favorite songs.

I have finished making the one with the soft music so that we can listen to some relaxing music while we sit by the fire.

Next I will make one with the faster style songs that we can enjoy when we are in the mood to rock the house down with some energetic praise and when I work out.

The one CD that seems to be missing from my collection is my Jars of Clay CD FLOOD, waaahhhh, that was one of my very favorite because I love every song on the album.

A while back I also lost my Rebecca St. James GOD CD and Clay Crosse CD Stained Glass and my Kirk Franklin CD. Sure do miss those three.

Well, I guess I should be thankful for the ones I do have. God is so good to me.

Over the years I have made a number of compilation tapes and CDs to share with people all over the United States that have no money or praise music.

It is a blessing to know that they can praise God and rejoice with a few samples of music in the genre and style of tunes that they like best.

Today I've been cutting squares to make a quilt for Chris. He doesn't have any homemade country quilts like we do in the South, so I wanted him to have one.

Quilting is one of my favorite hobbies and not only does it give me valuable alone time with God, but when it is finished I have a nice heirloom to pass on to someone I love.

Since cotton is not king in England and fabric is very expensive here, I have found a way to make durable quilts for little or nothing. I am going to thrift stores and buying sets of very attractive curtains to make my squares. Although I am buying them second hand, they look brand new.

Not only that, but wool is abundant in England, so instead of using cotton or batting to line them, I am using wool for the insides.

Quilting may not be very exciting to many people, but the satisfaction of having a beautiful creation at the end is a great feeling to me. My quilts are hand stitched, double reinforced and are of very good quality to last a lifetime. Every stitch is a stitch of love, with the joy of knowing that it will bless someone who I am making it for.

There's nothing like the feeling of a nice comfortable homemade quilt wrapped around you at bedtime. It is a security while you sleep, a feeling of down home, and look lovely spread across the bed and also when there's an extra one folded neatly at the end of the bed. It reminds me of the good ole days at Grandma's house.

My grandmother is the reason I have become attached to quilts and quilting and it is fast becoming a lost art. It is fascinating to see my grandchildren sleeping under a quilt that my grandmother made back in the 40's, so I really cherish the though that someday thier grandchildren will also enjoy the quilts I have been making for them over the years. I started making quilts for my grandchildren before they were ever born. Let me confess that I even made one seven years ago for the granddaughter I don't have yet.

I have made a lot of quilts over the past 25 years and my , grandchildren, sister's , brother's and many friends have all enjoyed the quilts I have gifted them with.

Perhaps when I am finished I will post a picture so that I can show you what this one looks like. It is rich in color and has a wonderful floral pattern complimented by royal green squares. This will be one of the simpler ones I have created, and it will likely take about a month or so to finish.

Being 8 Years Old Again

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.

I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.
I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.
I want to believe that anything is possible.
I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So, here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, cause... "Tag! You're it."

One Dollar and Hundred Dollar Bill

One day, a one dollar bill and a hundred dollar bill got folded together and began talking about their life experiences.

The hundred dollar bill began to brag:

"I've had a great life," he said. "I've been to all the big hotels, Donald Trump himself used me at his casino, I've been in the wallets of Fortune 500 board members, I've flown from one end of the country to the other! I've even been in the wallet of two Presidents of the United States, and once when Princess Diana visited the US, she used me to buy a packet of gum."

In awe, the one dollar humbly responded, "Gee, nothing exciting like that has ever happened to me, ..., but I have been to church a lot!"

Chris has gone to Barcelona, Spain for a few days to do some work there.

How empty the house did suddenly feel when he left in the taxi to go to the airport.

I pray that he enjoys his travels and comes home safely.

I miss you, honey
