173 Have perished

The last count of the perished have reached 173, and they believe that it will continue to rise.

This has been Australia's worst ever natural disaster, and they believe that the fires that have been the most devestating were deliberately lit.

many thousands of people are without homes and have lost loved ones and everything. Entire families have been wiped out as they tried to escape the tornado of fire.

Please continue to pray for them.

I was driving home late last night in the 4x4 from Tamworth with the and a boot full of catalogues. Today we roll and deliver them to our town as I am the local contractor. Just over half way home, the car broke down. By the time the NRMA got to us it was way past midnight. They said that they would tow the car to the last town, Manilla but we would be stranded. I started to cry and asked the opperator how was I supposed to get home, and her answer was "that wasn't her problem, only the car was".

When the NRMA truck arrived, they sent out another car with it, and they offered to take us the rest of the way home. They said that considering the time of night (or morning lol) and that I had , they felt bad for me and offered to drive us the 40kms home. We piled all the junk mail into his boot and we finally got home at about 1:45am. Thankyou Lord!

My other car had been fixed and was waiting for me to collect in Manilla so I got up and walked to the bus stop to catch the bus back into Manilla, but there was no bus running today! Couldn't believe it! They stopped running the service on a Tuesday as of two weeks ago!

So with no local friends to call on for help, I started walking. I felt really alone and helpless. I had to get the other car so I could deliver the catalogues today was all I was thinking. I tried to hitch hike, but every car and truck just kept driving past. I felt determined that I was going to make it, even if I had to walk the whole way. I was wondering why no body stopped to help a lady out. I went outside of my self to do this, as I don't believe in hitching, and no one wanted to stop. I really felt discouraged and alone. By the time I had walked about 3 kms, an older couple picked me up and gave me a lift to Manilla as they were passing through. They were lovely and were only too happy to help out. Another kindness from total strangers.

When I told Ian what I had done, he was very cross with me, and he had every right to be. I have been too independant for too long! I need a man! Any takers out there? Tall dark and handsome say about 5'9"??? He would have to be my one true love though.

No just kidding. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength, but sure is going to be nice to have you around permanently babe. I know you want to take some of that burden and pressure from my shoulders and be 'the man'. But I am the fortunate one. I can see light at the end of the tunnel. Some are not as fortunate as I am and will continue to be as I will have Ian here soon, then always!

Spare a thought though for those many women out there that are doing it hard and having to do these kinda things that we often take for granted. It's not what God had intended for us women as we are the nurturers and home makers. God made man to be the leader and provide these things for his wife and family. But if the family unit breaks down, often the woman has to fend for herself and do things she is not used too or even want to, but sometimes she has no choice.

Pray for single mums and ask the Lord how you can help or make a difference to those who are less fortunate. You men or abled womem out there, can you help someone check levels in her car or be of some other practicle help? The bible tells us to watch out for and take care of the widows in our communities. Most people think though that widows are just elderly woman who have lost their husbands in death. Even though it isn't specific in the bible, the greek/hebrew meaning for widow is " A gap, a void where a husband has left his wife or unto death" So to me that means widows are also deserted wives & mothers, or mothers having to flee from abuse etc, and who really need support especially when they don't have a network of family and friends around them. Who better to care for them, and that is the 'church'. The body of christ should be a refuge for these hurting and needy women.

Amazingly Ian got a phone call this morning letting him know that he didn't get the job that he applied for. Ian knew that he was over qualified for the job. It was good to know straight away for the both of us. We are both confident that the right position will come in in this area with Country Energy and in the Lord's timing.

108 dead and fears of that number rising

There have been 108 deaths according to the latest news report this morning, and fears that there will be more casualties in the fires in Vic, just on the outskirts of Melbourne, not far fron where Pen and Chrissy56 are. Many people are seriously wounded from burns and 1000's of homes destroyed and countless people homeless. This is the worst natural disaster our country has seen. Many towns have been completely wiped oot and of the map!

Is this another sign of the end times, or just another freak of nature?

A new job for Ian

Ian has applied for a job here in my hometown with Country Energy. The application closes on Monday. His current two bosses encouraged him to go for it, as he has a good chance of getting the job. Although it isn't the same position and a reduction in pay, it would be an opportunity for him to stay with the same company he has been with for 24 years and apply later for the position he is most qualified for. Hopefully we will find out soon.

Please would you pray for him during the next week as they sift through the applicants and make their choice.

Blessings, Louise

Thankyou to all those dear friends here who have been praying for us over the last couple of days. We have had a bit of a breakthrough, even though we are still not out of the woods yet.

We will be travelling the 10 hour drive this Wednesday to be with my beloved for a few days. Nice timing as it is Valentines this saturday! We will see each other every two weeks until Ian gets a job close by, then we can work on wedding plans etc.

Blessings to you all & have a nice day. Ian & Louise

Can I please ask that all you prayer warriors out there pray for Ian and myself. We are going through a difficult time right now. We could really benefit from your prayers. We have both been through a lot lately and the constant hammering that we have been experiencing is leaving us vunerable to further attack.

We both appreciate you standing with us. Blessings, Ian & Louise xx

The editor of Homespun Magazine just rang to let me know that the Spring Thyme doll I sent off in a hurry just arrived. Today was the deadline for it to be in. I am so relieved that she made it in time as it would have been devestating not to get more work in the future.

The other good news is that the editor loved her and is looking forward to featuring her in the August issue.

Now it's time to start my next project. I think I will make a bag that is on my list of projects to do. I have some pretty reproduction 30's fabric and a simple patchwork block idea. So what do you think?

Cheers, Louise

What do you think of the latest doll I created?

I work for two leading Australian magazines now. I have only just come on board with the # one magazine 'Homespun'and they commisioned me to make a doll for their spring theme that will feature in the August issue.

I have been working on her a little while amongst other things, and she is now on her way to Sydney to the editor's office. I am always relieved when a project is finished and all the instructions and the photography is completed. I really enjoy clearing the 'decks' cleaning up the office and ready for the next project on the list.

It's a bit like when we repent and confess our sins to the Lord isn't it? The Lord says that when we do these things He is faithful and just and forgives our sin and cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 Jn 1:9) Yep He wipes the slate clean and we can move on with confidence and with freedom from those bondages that once held us captive.

Blessings to you all. Have a wonderful day today.
