Two weeks ago a gas line blew up the road just a quarter mile from my house. Just the gas escaping from the underground pipe sounded like a freight train derailing at high speed. There's a train track near by, so I thought it really was a train derailing and heading for my house. It was so loud, I was terrified and trying to grab dogs, throw them in the vehicle, and get away. I was carrying a puppy across the porch when a huge fireball exploded twice as tall as the trees. The whole western sky lit up orange and blood red. I was shaking so hard I could barely stand, but I finally got the last in the truck and took off in the opposite direction. I was so scared I didn't even close the front door of the house. I wondered if it was the end of the world, but some small part of my brain remembered that it did not match up with the end time descriptions in Revelation.
Later I found out that a truck had caused the gas cloud to explode. There was a man and his in the truck. They smelled the gas and got out and were running away when it exploded. The girl only had some burns on her leg and was out of the hospital the next day. The dad had burns on his back, but he is recovering amazingly fast. He was released from the hospital after only 4 days. I am sure God was protecting and preserving us from worse disaster. If the truck hadn't set off the gas when it did, that gas could have kept expanding until it reached my neighbor's house, then blown up. Then the explosion and fire would have been much, much worse. As it was, the firemen were able to put out the fire before it got any houses and before it hit the dry grass in my pasture. Glory be to God, we are all home safe, all the pets and horses are safe, and all our homes are intact! Even the road was repaired before the end of the week.

7/9/05 3:35 in the morning
About an hour ago I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I wandered around the house telling myself to get sleepy because people will show up at 7AM to help cut down my dead tree. I picked up Answers in Genesis Update and started reading. The last page was letters from subscribers of Creation magazine (what the Update is for) saying how the magazine has really helped them witness to people. I know God uses many things to reach people, but I wondered how much of the ad was just hype. So, in my heart I asked God that if the magazine was really having that much impact, would He show me an example of it in my life. There was nothing else to read in the update, so I sat on the couch wide awake wishing I could call my mom and talk about one of the issues that I just read. I started mentally reviewing my list of friends considering who might accept a phone call at 3AM. The phone rang. I thought, Lord did you wake up one of my friends to talk to me? I answered the phone, but did not recognize the voice. This cheerful guy starts asking how I'm doing. I think he has a wrong number. Then I found out he randomly dialed a number because he couldn't sleep. I'm sitting there stunned. I almost got mad, but then the Holy Spirit reminded me that maybe I was awake because God wanted me to talk to this person. So I'm telling God I'm willing to witness, but I don't know what to say. I sit there for a few moments drawing a blank. Then it comes to me, I say I was reading Creation magazine. The guy latches on to that and says it sounds religious. Then he starts asking me all sorts of questions about religion and God and the Bible. It turns out he attended some churches as a , but now he sees the suffering in the world. He's confused how a loving God could do this and he's having doubts. He wanted to know if God really answers prayers; how would he hear from God if God did answer? We talked for almost 40 minutes. He asked if it would be OK to call this number again on purpose if he had more questions. I said yes, then we said good bye. As I'm walking away from the phone, it hit me. God had just IMMEDIATELY answered my vague prayer about did this magazine really help reach people. God is amazing!
