CHRIST PRAYED WHAT!?!??!?

I pray these things while I am still in the world so that these followers can have all
of my joy in them. -JOHN 17:13

What Jesus dreamed of doing and what he seemed able to do were separated by an impossible gulf. So Jesus prayed.

We don't know what he prayed about. But I have my guesses.... He prayed for the impossible to happen.

Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he didn't ask for anything. Maybe he just stood quietly in the presence of Presence and basked in the Majesty. Perhaps he placed his war-weary self before the throne and rested.

Maybe he lifted his head out of the confusion of earth long enough to hear the solution of heaven. Perhaps he was reminded that hard hearts don't faze the Father. The problem people don't perturb the Eternal One.

"Seek God's kingdom, and all the other things you need will be given to you." LUKE 12:31

Sometimes God is so touched by what he sees that he gives us what we need and not simply that for which we ask.

It's a good thing. For who would have ever thought to ask God for what he gives? Which of us would have dared to say: "God, would you please hang yourself on a tool of torture as a substitution for every mistake I have ever committed?" And then have the audacity to add: "And after you forgive me, could you prepare me a place in your house to live forever?"

And if that wasn't enough: "And would you please live within me and protect me and guide me and bless me with more than I could ever deserve?"

Honestly, would we have the chutzpah to ask for that?...

Jesus already knows the cost of grace. He already knows the price of forgiveness. But he offers it anyway. Love burst his heart.

Forgiveness is NOT EZ, but it's simple. . . . . . . . .

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." - Luke 23:34 (NIV)

How Jesus, with a body wracked with pain, eyes blinded by his own blood, and lungs yearning for air, could speak on behalf of some heartless thugs is beyond my comprehension.

Never, never have I seen such love. If ever a person deserved a shot at revenge, Jesus did. But he didn't take it. Instead he died for them.

How could he do it?

I don't know.

But I do know that all of a sudden my wounds seem very painless. My grudges and hard feelings are suddenly childish.

He forgives us......and we forgive others in like manner as we are forgiven......without hesitation.

We Christians actually do have within us a portion of the very thoughts and mind of Christ.
1 CORINTHIANS 2:16 (TL

The distance between our hearts and [Jesus' heart] seems so immense. How could we ever hope to have the heart of Jesus?

Ready for a surprise? You already do....If you are in Christ, you already have the heart of Christ. One of the supreme yet unrealized promises of God is simply this: if you have given your life to Jesus, Jesus has given himself to you. He has made your heart his home. It would be hard to say it more succinctly than Paul does: "Christ lives in me" (Gal. 2:20 MSG)....

He has moved in and unpacked his bags and is ready to change you "into his likeness from one degree of glory to another " (2 Cor.3:18 RSV).

He leads me in the paths of righteousness.
Psalm 23:3 (NKJV)

It was, at once, history’s most beautiful and most horrible moment. Jesus stood in the tribunal of heaven. Including this modern day Isaiah with the prophet of OLD and all creation, my Master pleaded, “Punish me for their mistakes. See the murderer? Give me his penalty. The adulteress? I’ll take her shame. The bigot, the liar, the thief? Do to me what you would do to them. Treat me as you would a sinner.”

And God did. “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God” (1 Pet. 3:18 NIV)….

The path of righteousness is a narrow, winding trail up a steep hill. At the top of the hill is a cross. At the base of the cross are bags. Countless bags full of innumerable sins. Calvary is the compost pile for guilt. Would you like to leave yours there as well?

Surely, He carries your burden and bears
your griefs FOR YOU!

“What should I do with Jesus, the one called the Christ?”Matthew 27:22

Pilate is correct in his question. “What should I do with Jesus, the one called the Christ?” Perhaps you, like Pilate, are curious about this one called Jesus.

What do you do with a man who claims to be God, yet hates religion? What do you do with a man who calls himself the Savior, yet condemns systems? What do you do with a man who knows the place and time of his death, yet goes there anyway?...
You have two choices.

You can reject Him. That is an option.

You can, as have many, decide that the idea of God’s becoming a carpenter is too bizarre–and walk away.

Or you can accept him. You can journey with Him. You can listen for His voice amid the hundreds of voices and follow Him.

“If you give up your life for me, you will find true life.”
Matthew 16:25 (NLT)

When you’re full of yourself, God can’t fill you.

But when you empty yourself, God has a useful vessel. Your Bible overflows with examples of those who did.

In his gospel, Matthew mentions his own name only twice. Both times he calls himself a tax collector. In his list of apostles, he assigns himself the eighth spot.

John doesn’t even mention his name in his gospel. The twenty appearances of “John” all refer to the Baptist. John the apostle simply calls himself “the other disciple” or the “disciple whom Jesus loved.”

Luke wrote two of the most important books in the Bible but never once penned his own name.

"Don't be afraid of me. Am I God, to judge and punish you? As far as I am concerned, God turned into good what you meant for evil, for he brought me to this high position I have today so that I could save the lives of many people. No, don't be afraid. Indeed, I myself will take care of you and your families."

Meaningful? Reference? Who? What? Where? When? Why? You tell me, okay?
Is this some kind of a trick question?
Okay, I'll tell you that this is confusing?
You're trying to test me here, right?
Yes, this scripture means to me......(see comment below)
I know where this is found. In the BIBLE!
Obviously from the Old -or- New Testament.
Other...............(in my own words--comment/post--see below)
