So these are the Golden Years...

.
.
[Font Script]
First you had your green years of springtime, when you were young and full of excitement and energy. Your days were filled with learning, experimenting, and finding your place in life.

Then came the growing, flowering years-the rich summer of your life, in which many of your earlier struggles paid off and dreams came to fruition.
Now you are in the autumn of your life, when the harvest is in and leaves turn from green to rich hues of red and gold.

At first this phase may seem like a letdown. You worry because you are losing abilities that you feel are necessary to lead a worthwhile and happy life. But if you can accept this season of life for the blessing I mean for it to be, you will still enjoy life to the full. You may not be able to do some of the things you used to, but this will give you more time for better things. It’s all in how you view it. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the turning of the leaves.

The many colored leaves that I bring out every fall show you the many aspects of the love and other blessings I have for you. You are as a flower that is blooming late in life, with blossoms even more spectacular than the blooms that came out in early life. You are My masterpiece! Continue to not loose hope, your the creation I am painting.

The empty shell

..
.

When I came to know Him, I realized that we are all dwelling places of one kind or another. Each of us has a different house and we all look different, just like shells we see on a beach. Are you an empty shell waiting for a tenant, or are you a home for the One that will make you brand new?

What exactly did Jesus mean when he said "take up your cross and follow me.."?

To answer this question we must know what the cross may have meant to Christ.

Jesus was not ignorant of His mission on the earth. He knew that the reason he had come was to be lifted up to die that others might live. For Jesus the cross represented that moment when his submission to God's will would be manifested for all to see; it would take precedence even over his own desire to live. Jesus didn't want to die. Like us, he didn't want to give up his friendships, his mother, brothers, his disciples, and his life. But his love to God was greater than all of these things. In going to the cross Jesus demonstrated that his love and obedience to the Father took precedence even over his own life. And so he cried out in agony, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me! Yet, let not my will but yours be done” Luke 22:42.

Also, consider these verses:

“If anyone wishes to become my follower, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me” Luke 9:23.

"Where your treasure is your heart will be also. ... No one is able to serve two masters; for he will either hate one and love the other, or he will despise one and hold to the other. You are not able to serve both God and worldly things." Matthew 6:21,24

"Do not love the world neither the things which are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; because all of the the things of the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, are not from the Father but are of the world." 1 John 2:15-16

Are these people carrying the cross?

1. A business man learns how he can make more money by cheating. He believes that chances are no one will find out. His actions will testify whether he has died to the things of this world in order to serve God.

2. A young woman is told that if she leaves the family’s traditional religion to become a Christian she will be shunned by the family and denied any inheritance. Her decision will show whether she ultimately loves God or her family.

3. A husband who feels neglected by his wife meets a beautiful and kind young secretary at work who enjoys his company. His decision whether to allow social encounters to take their inevitable course will proclaim whether he is living to please himself or God.

4. A mother who can not afford to buy new clothes meets her friends who have all recently purchased the latest styles. Her decision of whether she will go deeply into debt in an effort to have others think she is somebody based upon what she has will reveal much about where the treasure of her heart is.

5. A young man, who has a nice car and has been quite an achiever in athletic activities, goes to a new high school. Whether he decides to boast about what he has and what he has done will speak volumes about where the treasure of his heart is at.

You deceide...

Do you know the difference in WORKS and GRACE?

In Works, one does something for God: In Grace, God does something for us. Which would you rather go out to eternity with? Something you did or something God did? Which would afford the greatest JOY?"

There are different kinds of works. Some are done to earn something, others are done because of love and faith and the commands of God to his chosen ones.

Can a chosen one live in the world but not of it? How can this be done? Perhaps we need to define living in the world...I use to think that living in the world mean't indulging in the world through acquiring material things, eating good foods at nice restaurants etc. Those were the days when money was plentiful. Looking back, I wish I had invested more of that money into Kingdom work. A shifting of priorities perhaps?

I thank God for the Grace he gives to us. A person cannot work enough to earn salvation. It is impossible, but yet, we demonstrate our love and our faith by our works of obedience ( John 14:15 )

But what is love?

Many religious people embrace the idea of loving others as themselves but remain blissfully unaware of how the Bible defines love. As a result, they do not understand the necessity of putting into practice the biblical principles that determine the success or failure of their relationships.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love" [ 1 John 4 : 7 - 8 ]

But what is love?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could use a consistent definition of love, especially when we are speaking about the love God has for us and the love we should have for each other? Perhaps, the answer is in a bowl of Cheerios?

Acts of Compassion

God wants us to become more compassionate, to love people, to reflect His way of life. He wants us to become more like Jesus.

Many opportunities exist for us to encourage, strengthen and otherwise show love for those in need. When we do those things, we are doing good works–sacrificing our time and energy for the well-being and benefit of others.

While I was at work yesterday I saw a woman sitting there at the table eating her lunch with no drink. A little voice inside me said to give her my change which was the exact amount of money needed for a drink. I left the room...later in passing she greeted me by name.

Can you share a story about compassion?

The Sinless Perfection Test - Are YOU Perfect??? Part 1

First, Let's Define Sin:

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us” -1 John 1:8
This is a test for all the sinless ‘Christians’ who claim to be on par with the same sinlessness of Jesus Christ Himself, in present practice in this life while still in the body of flesh, particularly those who deny that 1 John 1:8 applies to the Christian. That we may not be deceived or mistaken as to the nature and definition of sin, let us define exactly what sin is. According to Scripture, there are at least five basic definitions of sin. Here are the scriptures that define this for us:
-
1. “But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.” (Romans 7:23)
-
2. “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.” (1 John 3:4)
-
3. “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17)
-
4. “And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” (Romans 14:23)
-
5. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23, 1 John 5:17)
-
Correspondingly, here are the definitions of sin in numeric order as quoted above:

1. Sin is a law that dwells in the flesh
2. Sin is transgression of God’s law
3. Sin is knowing to do good but not doing it
4. Sin is anything not done in faith
5. Sin is anything that comes short of the glory of God
