GOD'S GALLERY

In my wallet, I carry pictures. Pictures of people like my grandson, and my daughter. I don't have a picture of my son small enough to fit, and my three-week old granddaughter---I don't have any pictures of her yet. Pictures are great. When we want to show others the people who are really special to us, we can just whip out the ol' wallet and go through the gallery. Wouldn't it be neat if we could show them a picture of our heavenly Father, too? Since He's a Spirit, we can't of course.
But wait. Sure we can. WE are God's picture. We are how He shows the world what He looks like.
A huge responsibility. And exciting, too.

IT DOESN'T FEEL LIKE WORK

It's so hard to answer when people ask what I do for work.
I do things that earn money, but I love what I do.
It really doesn't feel like work.
I paint and sell the paintings.
I design and make jewelry.
I design and sew handbags and diaper bags.
I design and build furniture.
I sew clothes for a woman who designs.
I sing and play in a band.
I raise vegetables.
This way, I'm at home during the day a lot of the time, and available to my family.
But work?
It just doesn't feel like work...

BIBLE STUDY AND FIREMEN

I was at the women's Bible study yesterday, and it's great listening to women talk who have been Christians for 50 and 60 years. I come away reassured. They talk about how Christ has been shaping them, and it actually gets easier as time goes by. Now THAT is nice to know. They don't claim to be perfect, by any means. They are simply so aware of God's presence.
Also, I gave everyone a bit of a break. I got in the open lift that goes to the second floor---and it got stuck between floors. Well, I'm standing in there, listening to people decide what to do. Since it's an open lift, I was able to take part in the discussion...
They said maybe they should call the fire department. I said, "Great! Firemen are almost always cute!" Unfortunately, the church handyman was available lol. But during the study, every now and then, firemen would come up.
One person said, "Well, at least she's still smiling" when I came out of the lift. Another person said, "Well, of course! She was thinking about firemen!" I laughed right along with everybody.
After all---they MIGHT have been right...
Well, I figure firemen are a blessing from God, too. Some blessings are just really nice to look at, that's all.

LET'S LAUGH! ! !

People forget that God likes fun. Why else would he put the legs on frogs backward? Or create little boys with that mischievous smile?
I like to just relax sometimes and count all the fun---or funny---things in life around me.
We know that not only is it nice to laugh, but it's healthy. All the medical journals say laughing is good for us.
And remember, the face you have most often when you're young is the one your face will freeze into when you're old. We've all seen the old person with that constant frown. Do we want to look that way when we get to be 80? I know I don't.
So let's go ahead and pick out the things around us that are crazy, silly, and laugh-able.
We'll always be glad we did!

GOD'S HEART

When I think----REALLY THINK----about how my sin has hurt God, my heart hurts, too. Sometimes, when I'm taking the Lord's Supper, it hits me all over again, and I cry, even after all these years. Today was the 37th anniversary of when I became a Christian. Thank you Lord, for all you've done for me. I know I broke your heart. Thank you for loving me anyway. You're the greatest.

IS IT SATAN?

Why can't I believe it when I'm complimented?
For instance, now, in the band, I'm singing a solo. A week ago at church I had someone on the worship team compliment my voice. Why do I keep thinking I must stink?
Why do I nearly always expect the worst of myself?
In nearly everything I do?
Is it, as someone said, Satan trying to drag me down?
Or just a lack of confidence?
I wish I knew...

BABYSITTING THE GRANDCHILD

I'm taking care of my grandson for a couple days while my and his girlfriend go to the hospital. She's having a C-section. Soon I'll have a granddaughter.
Boy, God knew what He was doing when He made us able to have while we're young.
If I had to raise my all over again, starting at this age---I'd do it. But I'd be a royal mess at the end of every day.
Then again, maybe not. God does give us the strength to do whatever we must do.
But I sure am glad I'm the Grandma this time...

A MOTHER'S ADVICE

My said she was going to go out with "some people" from school.
Then she said, "I might as well tell you because you probably already know---the 'people' are one person of the male persuasion."
Thank goodness I have the reputation among my of being able to read minds. I thought she was acting a little strange but I didn't know she was going out on a date.
I just looked at her.
She said, "Yes, I'm going out on a date."
I nodded wisely.
"Well, aren't you going to tell me anything?!" she cried, "After all, this IS my first college date! How do I stop being so nervous?!"
I said, "Just keep reminding yourself that you are friends, out having a good time. It's when the romance thing gets involved that things get funky."
She said, "You know, that makes sense! Thanks!"
"But I'm still going to dress nice".
I told her, she wants to dress nice, to get the reputation for being a good dresser.
She had told me earlier, when she went out and bought new shoes, she asked herself, "What would Mom do?" And she came home with a cute pair of nice/casual black wear-with-anything's that are really comfortable.
And she said some advice I gave her the other day was working out great.
Makes me feel good to know she's taking my advice, and that it's working.

For today I'll remember- -

Yesterday's dreams are tomorrow's accomplishments.

Yesterday's failures are today's learning sessions.

Tomorrow's worries are what I'll wrap up and give God, TODAY.

Yesterday's sins are what God forgot and threw away---yesterday. And so Should I.
