Stories about the presence of God in our lives is what makes this life so interesting. I continue to believe that the irrational is more prevalent in life than the rational. How on earth could a God who loves us give us so many problems to untangle; so many wars to understand; so many challenges in our own personal lives; so many natural disasters that boggle our mind. Miracles are an every day occurence only if we see with the eyes of faith; only if we use the God-given radar that our faith allows us to comprehend.

A prayer please for my friend Rowland

Some time ago I asked for a prayer for my friend Rowland. He is a professional Christian gospel song writer and his wife died of cancer two years ago. The anniversary is approaching and he is having a really tough time again.

He has written the most beautiful songs for his wife-- even after her death. This is one of those most beautiful romances that never dies. I doubt he will ever look at another woman as long as he lives. Last year he came out with another CD for her-- about when superheroes die. It was awesome and the $5,000 or more dollars he raised was sent to the Ukraine along with a large of womens' and other shoes to help the women there. It was what his wife would have done were she alive and well.

He continues to have a very tough time.. and I have no heart to tell him to "get over it". He is the most wonderful Christian men I know and loves the Lord immensely. His three sons have all entered the Church (Pentecostal) at some point and a second one is to be ordained this very day. May the Lord bless him for raising up another fine man of the Lord, and may he help him deal with his feelings surrounding his wife's absence.

Seriously, this is no joke! Alberta has been hit with a major blizzard!

We are only days away from the month of MAY!! Yesterday we were dumped on with almost a foot of snow! Give me a break--- we are just about in MAY. Our plows have been put away. Last week we had a record high of 16 degrees C. and balmy weather all along. People were out playing golf and putting out their swimming pools. Gardens were being ready for seeding. People were rejoicing having come through yet another winter.
And yesterday it never stopped snowing... all through the night. Totally unbelievable!

Calgary-- our sister city to the south has been hit even worse. They are still shovelling themselves out. What on earth is going on? Snowfall warnings for just about every city in Alberta-- cold, blowing snow and snowfall warnings!

Folks-- whether you believe in climate change or not--- this is for real! And I ain't kidding!

Positive people at Big Church

I am more and more convinced that the Lord led me here some two years ago to meet and exchange views with so many wonderful people here in this Church Community of Christ. It is definitely Christocentric and definitely the good people far outweigh the negative.

What a joy it is to read so many spirit filled blogs, so much witness to the miracles of Jesus on a daily basis. How good it is to see Christians reaching out to love one another; filling their cup with the joy and gladness of the Lord. What a great bunch of people here from all the continents of the earth. We need to thank the Lord for this great community and we need to give him the credit for this great miracle of God. My mother whilst growing up in England would cross the street when walking by a Protestant church, and then return to the same side of the sideway after passing it--- out of total disrespect. That's the kind of hatred and bitterness that was preached and taught! When I took her to a protestant church years ago before she passed away she was physically shaking for fear of being sent to hell.

The pope said only yesterday that we need to build bridges. And this is the same man last year published a document proclaiming that only Catholics have the fullness of truth in their doctrine-- others are on the margins. You see, the Holy Spirit is working at the top and at the bottom-- across the nations and all faiths. Things are happening my friends! We are experiencing a deep renewal. The Holy Spirit thank God is not subject to political correctness and any kind of fear like us. He blows where he wills. And yes, who would have thought it possible for a pope to enter a synagogue or mosque? And who would have thought a George Bush would have welcomed a man to the White house who berated him for entering Iraq? Peace is happening and it is happening at an alarmingly fast pace.

Let us lift our hands and arms in prayer and thank the Lord for the work of his Holy Spirit... and let us not sit idly by and watch. Action speaks louder than words!

Spirit filled Churches

It's my belief that the Lord is "sending forth his spirit" in many ways. There is a battle raging and it is fierce. I notice that so many churches are not spirit filled. It's strange how some people prejudge churches based on a lot of old criteria and experiences. But I think if one is truly open to the Holy SPirit then we can discern which churches are and are not spirit filled. Does it really matter? Well I would sooner worship in a spirit filled church than not. But that is up to the individual. I personally feel that it is much less threatening to worship in a regular church as there is no obligation to do anything more than attend. But when the spirit is alive and moving so many things within the mind, heart and soul connect and intereact. That's why there is so much healing in a spirit filled Church.

This may sound somewhat controversial. I think the presence of the Dahlai Lama in the United States is a great thing. His leadership role in the world promoting peace and unity is a good thing. He represents millions of people and his Tibetan monks are doing a great thing standing up to fascist China. Many of his monks have been killed for protesting peacefully for their human rights. It is my personal belief that the Spirit of God is moving within other faiths besides our own. This beautiful peaceful monk may not be Christian but I think he exudes many of the virtues of Christ--- and I believe the Holy Spirit is moving such people to do good in our world.

I wish I could see signs of this in other world faiths, and I am sure they are out there. Ecumenism is not just for unity of Christians but for all people.

The Pope is making inroads in America

Let us thank the Lord for the work the pope is doing in the United States. It is my opinion the more good people like the pope visiting the United States the better. I have a sense that his words will help heal the wrongdoing of many of the Catholic priests. Not enough though-- the pope needs to go further and look into celibacy as the root cause of a lot of this stuff surrounding sexuality. I believe priests should have the option of marrying. Protestant clergy have their issues with sexuality too... but overall I believe the married state is the best solution. It's healthier and more natural.

Let us pray for the pope that real healing begin within the Catholic community surrounding pedophiles and the great scandal this has brought upon the Catholic community world wide.

And let us thank the pope for bringing words of peace and reconciliation, hope and encouragement to a nation that so badly needs a spiritual solution to its many woes at this time.

God bless the pope and God bless America!

We love them both!

The pope's visit to America

I was happy to learn that President Bush gave such a warm welcome to the pope yesterday. He would do well to listen to the pope's views on such things as nuclear disarmament, the war on Iraq, boycotting Cuba and helping more to assist immigrants in America. I'm troubled and saddened that the Pope is not meeting with some of the victims of his priests-- the victims of pedophiles. The Church's views on celibacy are completely out of date and I strongly believe that celibacy is to blame for much of the woes among priests' lifestyles. It is a very sad state of affairs.

I've always believed that Catholics need to become more protestant and protestants need to learn more about modern Catholicism. We all need to become more Christian. We all need to become more personal in our relationship with Jesus... and move far away from dogmatism and tradition that helps separate us from a closeness with the Lord.

It's good to see the Pope in America. Let us all pray for a transformation of American values from his visit. We need to become less greedy, less materialistic, more focused on Jesus Christ and the cross; more attentive to the cries of the unborn murdered fetuses, and more in tune with each other.

Viva il papa...long live the pope!

The last week I have been busy doing some painting and carpentry for a single mom and her 17 year old . Her mother was very kind to me during my walk through the valley of darkness some 10 plus years ago. I have been without work for quite a while again, but I simply could not turn down this opportunity to help out. SOmetimes in my view of things-- God intervenes in life and sends his emmisaries or angels to help out. The old adage- "what goes around comes around" came to mind. I had always looked for a chance to return the favour to this family and here the Lord put it on a silver plate for me.

I've been looking out for a Honda vehicle for the young -- but so far no luck. I will get back at it today and see what the Lord comes up with. Incidentally-- this divorce is all about an absence of spirituality. As I listened to the gal teach music the other day, she mentioned something most revealiing to me, "You do not play the piano with your fingers but with your ear." WOW! What a philosophical statement there!

We need to listen to the Lord more. We need to listen to each other more,, not just take their words and intellectually decipher what they say..... but listen with our hearts.

Do pray for this family in need!

God bless us all

Thanking everyone for the diet advice

WOW...I was overwhelmed with so many generous people giving me their personal best advice! Thank you to everyone! I will let you know how my progress goes. I'm already waterlogged this evening and dreading making it through the night as I have a wee problem with the old bladder. But if it takes a lot of water, then so be it.

Yes Beth I know Curves and other girlie places do not cater to us men. And yet to me it is so silly as it would only increase their business-- even if they had a men's section. But I suppose it is only a reaction to the men's clubs of times past where only men were permitted in.

I very much appreciate all the advice I got. You are all very sweet!

I'm trying to lose weight... any ideas?

Without placing all the blame on my herniated disc causing the pinched nerve on my left leg, I've put on a lot of weight in the last 6 months.

So here I go on a diet. It's not simply a matter of praying about it. I need to do something dramatic. I know the Lord helps those that help themselves and today I am asking the Lord to come through for me on this one as I know my overall health needs it. I really cannot afford the Dr Berenstein's program which works but is incredibly expensive. Weight watchers works but I live in the country and far from the cities. So I will have to start something on my own. Usually by the time I get home I am too tired to do a lot of walking but I will have to start exercising on a more regular basis.

If anyone has any great ideas I'm here listening!

God bless to all!

Gasoline survey.. how much is gas a litre for you?

If our gas prices go up anymore I will soon have to walk wherever I go... and I live in the country! It wasn't more than 6 months ago I could fill up my van at 93 cents a litre. A year ago the price was in the mid 80 cent range. Now today, it is $1.15 a litre!! And that is in Alberta where we produce the stuff for others!

I met someone recently who was trying to tell me that in many places in South America gas is less than .20 cents a litre because they add biofuel from crops or fruit trees. Hmmmm was I gullible enough to believe this?

I do know the AMerican government is starting to throw some fairly big chuncks of change at their farmers in an effort to get them to grow corn and other biofuels for the American vehicles.

What effect will all of this have? Will our food prices be going up like crazy? Bread has already tripled in price in the last year because of this. Where are we headed?

(An American gallon is equivalent to 3.27 litres}

Will all the bright lights out there please tell me what is going on?

In the dark.
