Stories about the presence of God in our lives is what makes this life so interesting. I continue to believe that the irrational is more prevalent in life than the rational. How on earth could a God who loves us give us so many problems to untangle; so many wars to understand; so many challenges in our own personal lives; so many natural disasters that boggle our mind. Miracles are an every day occurence only if we see with the eyes of faith; only if we use the God-given radar that our faith allows us to comprehend.

Perhaps Sao Paulo Brazil has the car pooling solution

I just chatted with my older who worked doing research at UBC in Vancouver the year before last in the transportation department. His job was to study and strategize ways of getting students to leave their cars behind when coming to and from campus.

He told me of a party of visitors from Sao Paulo. Apparently, the government there passed legislation forbidding people to drive their car on certain days in the city as there was so much pollution. SO I think it went something like this.... Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays certain people designated to drive their vehicles while the remaining work days they had to car pool. Others took the remaining days etc.

Of course as always, he said the rich folks got aouund this by buying two cars ( some solution ) so they could drive on the days they were supposed to leave the vehicle at home. I guess the car license plate must be tagged for certain days.

Well... feel free to correct me here too if there is something wrong with this hear say evidence!

Confirmation needed about New Zealand's laws

Chatting over coffee after service today everyone and the mice were talking about the high cost of gasoline prices.

We live in the country and about an hour from the big city so many of us who have to work in the city are finding it hard economically with the price of gas.

We got talking about car pooling as the way of the future. Here just about everyone drives around in a half ton and only one person to the vehicle for the most part.

Well someone said that New Zealand has a law in effect that anyone driving alone in a vehicle is fined. I was stunned. I mean, there has to be some time when you will be alone in a vehicle. But gee, is big brother going to make us car pool?

I would love to hear from someone who knows about this.

Getting educated on Big Church

Coming to Big Church is not just about meeting lots of gorgeous women. It's also about getting educated. I do enjoy reading the many blogs on scripture and Christ. It really is most encouraging. I also find from talking to people through messages etc. that I need to develop further my understanding of the American people. Here in Canada we have such a lot of trade with the United States. We depend on each other.

Years ago while living in Toronto our family would take three or more trips a year to visit my aunt in Buffalo. WOW! In the sixties America was rich and had lots of world power. How times have changed. I hear stories ( because I have not visited the United States in more than 30 years) of roads and bridges falling apart because of the lack of money. I hear about the housing market collapsing; people selling their homes at a fraction of the price they paid for them; having to auction them off for crying out loud.

The Marshall Plan which was a brilliant idea gave more than $13 billion American to Europe after the war. I think the day may soon come when the U.S. will need a Marshall Plan from the powerful countries like China. It's outrageous to see so many poor Americans whose country once gave the shirt off its back to poorer nations. SO sad.

I love America... the land of milk and honey that many immigrants came to; now the land of pain and suffering from its war dead and its poverty. Thank God there are Americans that believe in God and have values that affirm that belief. We need you America! Hang in there! There is light at the end of this tunnel. And thanks for the education I receive here!

Without getting myself into a whole lot of trouble ( hey do I ever do that?) I have to admit there sure are a lot of beautiful women on this site. Of course you realize for us men out there-- that makes it very very difficult as the selection is even more difficult with so much beauty in the same pool!

Now let's look at beauty. Well one man's scrap is another man's gold, right? Men like women seek a certain type of body. Men are far more visual so the body is a turn on big time for the male. ( Feel free to correct me if you think I am wrong here) Thus the reason for the high success of the clothing and makeup industry around the world. Another thing-- body parts. Now which man out there doesn't enjoy looking at a little cleavage ( or a lot!) Not me. I'm more of a leg man as I love high heels. But a lot of women flaunt whatever natural assets the Lord has blessed them with. And hey, why not? Women I think like the slim look but then after that the range is far and wide as to what they want. Some like the hairy chest ( which is not me), the nice butt, the mustache or the beard. Others are not into hair at all. Then there's the head covering-- hey bald ( like what I am getting to be) is beautiful for some and a total turn off for others. Did I miss anything else? Please let me know!

Women on the other hand - while they do enjoy a certain slim look, are far more interested in what the man's head is all about. Not that men are not-- on the contrary they are, but they do not respond immediately to that asset. Women are far more interested in honesty, compassion, decency and security. So they do like to see emotional and financial security. Not that I blame them of course! I once met a woman for coffee and she told me about a lot of men she had been meeting at that time. She claimed that many men she had met were typical. They grunt once for "yes", twice for "no", then scratch their scrotum and go back into their caves to engage in their own selfish activities. Hey... that wasn't fair! Or was it?

World wide smoking is getting the spotlight it deserves. I have never in my life smoked--- thanks to my parents being smokers and seeing how gross it looks. So for me anyway.... a smoker's profile will definitely turn me off. On the other hand knowing something about addictions I feel sorry for people who smoke because of the nature of their addiction. Each day I pray that they can find the necessary courage and medical aid to quit.

Now let's move on to obesity. Many American and Canadian men and women are overweight. Thanks to the sugar industry our European founders gave us. Sugar is a bit like tobacco really. All that white bread and white sugar are just not the best for us. That's one reason why I think Tim Horton's will go the way of MacDonald's if they don't get rid of their donuts and other goodies filled with calories. Anyway, we are all becoming more conscious of obesity as a major source of premature death. I for one was as slim as a needle when I was young and playing semi professional soccer. Throughout my career in the church and teaching I always played and coached soccer so had to be in top shape. Somehow in my later fourties spending way too much time burning midnight oil correcting zillions of papers in social studies I started to put on the weight. So now, while I don't think I'm that gross to look at-- I am indeed well aware that I don't get the dances I used to get largely because of the weight. But hey, talk is cheap. Action is much louder, so I am working on it.

Back to women. Why so many beautiful women on this site? I have no idea but I know there are so many women I would love to date. Trouble is they are so far away and you only get one pick! Darn!

Perhaps it all boils down to inner beauty. Maybe that comes from an interior life of peace and prayer, compassion and plain old fashioned decency and respect. Anyway, God bless each and every woman on this site as you are all beautiful and adorable to us men. A rose ... which came right from Marilyn's garden for you all and a blessing for abundant wealth and health, peace and longevity!

Lord please step in here.....the verdict in New York

I do know that you O Lord far better understand all things on earth better than we.

The news this day out of New York surrounding the acquital on all charges of the police officers involved in shooting a black man-- is a major source of concern for all of us. AMerica now or ever does not need another round of racial riots and violence.

Lord I know you know far more than we do about all this, so grant us all patience and understanding and a lot of peace surrounding this matter. Bring justice and full understanding and simmer the anger and outrage that has been mounting.

In the end, you are the only Judge of each one of us-- let your mercy reign and bring peace to the hearts of all.

In prayer this night for all sides here.

Well yesterday I got a real shocker. I went to see the surgeon about my left shoulder rotator cuff. He said I had no arthritis in the shoulder at all. He said the rip in the shoulder is one of the worst he has seen. Normally there is an 8 month waiting period for this surgery but he is booking me for June or early July.

Now I am in a real quandry. I have been taking cortisone shots in my arms for two years ( every three months) and this surgeon is up in arms about all the cortisone. He said once or twice but that is all!

I hate to find another doctor as my family doctor as I really like this guy.

May I ask for prayer about all this? I am quite concerned.

The best man at my one and only wedding who is 78 years old and a religious man in a Catholic mixed celibate community needs prayer. He gets an angiogram on Monday. He does not look good.

I have seen this man take off his winter jacket and give it to a man off the street. He has a heart of gold and has dedicated his life to helping others in need. He is one of the most prayerful friends I have, He loves the Lord and he teaches it with actions not words.

I love this man dearly and would welcome as many prayers for him as we can muster. God bless you all for doing this!

Hilary Clinton and the race for President

A former prime minister of Canada, Pierre Trudeau used to say it is difficult to be in bed with an elephant- referring to Canada's relationship with the United States. I see this as a blessing for both countries as we get to know each other and trade with each other and get along with each other.

We here in Canada are bombarded with American Hollywood movies, American advertising-- and yes we love all American inventions that help us in so many ways! We also get a massive dose of American election stuff on our news at this time.

Well Hilary Clinton and Obama need to stop slinging mud at each other. That's an outsider's view of things for sure. It looks terrible! I've always wondered why politics has to be such a dirty game.

These people will have to learn to get along because the world needs leaders that can get along with each other. Susan has an excellent post today on dealing with difficult people. Well worth a read for Hilary and Obama!

Perhaps we need to hand over the rule of government to some bright young grade four student. We need to simplify issues and we need to take leadership of government out of the hands of wealthy lawyers and corporate past executives.

Just a bystander in all this. Forgive me for getting my nose into American affairs. I'm no authority on American politics but I do enjoy our evening news!

God bless you all! We in Canada do love America!

Zimabwe and China. What hypocracy of the West!

Mugabe took power from Colonial Britain many years ago. He was and is a white supremicist declaring white racist minority rule.

In the recent elections he lost. But he wants to remain in power by force. Now he is depending on weaponry from China to keep his people subdued.

Meanwhile Britain and others are wanting an embargo placed on this country to stop the weapons from entering.

The west continues to plunder and exploit Africa and places like Zimbabwe. But what hypocracy for Britain, France and the United States to demand an embargo. Hey, I'm all for stopping China for dumping its weapons on this country to control the masses. But the fact is, the west has allowed this white supremicist to rule for years! All the western countries have been shipping boat loads of weapons to help this supremicist to control his people. Over tens of thousands were killed years ago with weaponry from the west.

Let's take a serious look at shipping arms around the world!

Why are standard members allowed only so many messages per day?

I don't get a lot of messages on this site and I guess being a standard member I tend to write very few. If I have anything to say I say it right here.

Well I must have written 5 messages yesterday and now today I was shut down after sending one. Gee... and I had only two more to go! Ohhh well... such is life I guess. One thing though... it teaches us patience and perseverence.

I think of the greatest writer of all times ( in my view) Paul. Here was a man who was given the writing talents like no other. He wrote his best stuff while in a jail cell. What a time to discern and put great thought to what he said. Sometimes the Lord places us in chambers of silence to contemplate and think before we open our pens. Sometimes we need to be less prolific and more discerning. SO tonight I will reflect and ponder each word and allow God's spirit to further enlighten me.

Let us bless the Lord at all times for the gift of communication. Praise him from the rooftops!
