Earlier today I made a blog post titled: 'Bogus "shill" membership accounts'. It initially showed at the top of the 'Recent Posts' in the blog section, but now it doesn't show at all.
I checked my blog profile and it still exists (for now?), but it's as if I'm being censored by BC because I called them out on something.
Here's the link to that blog post:

Bogus "shill" BC members?

Has anyone else noticed the dramatic increase of bogus "shill" membership profiles here lately?
They're very easy to spot: Most often you'll see them pop into a chat room and just type "Hello!". But never respond when you type anything back to them. Usually these accounts are Gold memberships, and their into lines simply read "Hello there!" multiple times. Honestly, who is going to plop down money on a Gold membership and not at least write a brief intro?
The others are also easy to see, at least for me they are. I get quite a few "friend requests", "flirts" and even "hot listed" by much younger woman (average of 34, but youngest was 23) that have pictures in their profile that look like they were done by a professional photographer, and these women look like models! Like a woman that looks like a model and is so much younger than me is going to be interested in an older, set-in-his-ways troll like me? Riiiiiight! Ok, I'm not really a troll, but I'm certainly not a GQ model either...lol.
Most often these "members" are from a foreign country, so obviously trying to find out if they are legit is impossible - my profile states I only speak English, so a French-only speaking person would be impossible to converse with. Everything we put into our profiles (age, favorite colors, physical traits, etc.) are viewable by Silver and Gold members, so it's not that hard to see the idea of a person that speaks a different language initiating contact. Is it an attempt to scam members? That's the most likely thought. But I have a different one: What if the parent company that owns BC is creating these bogus accounts with the intent to entice current and newer members into upgrading to paid accounts in hopes of conversing with them?
I'm not sure if it's illegal, but it's definitely shady, immoral, and despicable!
Ok, I'm done ranting now.
Everyone have a wonderful year, and be careful of those bogus hottie accounts!

Big Church advertising $ex....AGAIN???

Last time I posted about this matter, at the bottom of the main blog page here on BC there were graphic picture adverts for one of the other sites that is also owned by the company / entity that owns BC.
I was appalled, and initially considered leaving the site back then because of it. I streamlined my profile in preparation to cancel it, but decided to hang around because of the wonderful friendships I have made, and because (I think it was either racefan or blueair?) had contacted someone at BC to complain about it and have those adverts removed.....well, they're baaaaaack!
After looking through the blog posts a short time ago for any new postings, I logged out of BC. The webpage that loaded after logging out was more than just a simple confirmation of my log out, at the bottom of the webpage there were several video clips of a very graphic sexual nature.
I thought this kind of crap had been handled, and that we wouldn't be subjected to this anymore????
This is an outrage!!!
If anyone from BC with any clout reads this post, I pray that God touches your heart and you feel compelled to put a stop to this!

Creeped out

Ok, let me start off by saying that this is more of a rant than an actual blog post. If you're still interested, please read on!
I don't get on B.C. that often anymore due to a busy work schedule and doing my best to stay "plugged in" concerning church functions and serving the Lord.
Over the years I've noticed that I receive quite a few email notices of "so-an-so viewed your profile" for several days after being logged in. Most are the typical shill accounts created by the kind folks at B.C. to make me seem desirable (like some 33 year old woman who looks like a model would want an old guy like me ) or at the very least, interesting. Over the past month or so however there has been a particular female member who views my profile on an almost daily basis, sometimes multiple times in a day. In fact, in the short time that I have been on the site tonight she has viewed my profile THREE times!
While some might take this as flattering that someone seems so interested that they must view your profile and your pictures over and over again, to be honest it's starting to creep me out, especially since this members listing shows her as being in Bogota Colombia.
While it's very unlikely that she'll show up on my doorstep or be peeping through my windows like a stalker, should I be concerned, or just blow it off?
Has anyone else dealt with anything similar?

I don't get on here all that often (I'm very involved in my local church and few ministries), but every time that I've popped in I notice that there is absolutely zero/nada/zilch members in the Chat Rooms, regardless of time or day.
So what gives, does anyone use the Chat Rooms anymore?

I'm sure that everyone has noticed the site layout has been altered slightly and that things seem a little off. While it might be a bit unfamiliar and strange at first, it's something that will just take getting adjusted to I guess.
For me however, the changes made have cemented my decision to remove my profile and leave this site. I've recently been battling being an active member of a site that not only supports a sister-site that is sex-based, but also other sites that promote homosexuality.
The "final straw" for me came today: upon scrolling down through the various blog posts here in Big Church, at the bottom of the blogs section page I was shocked beyond belief to see an ad with pictures of several women who were partially nude. I scrolled back up in embarrassment and didn't see what website it was an ad for, but I'm fairly certain that it's for that "other site" owned and run by the same company / people that Big Church is owned and run by.
I don't know if that ad is something new, or just something that I've never seen before. In either case it's disgusting, and has no place on a spiritually-based website.
I won't try to convince anyone else of what I feel right now or to leave as well, but the Spirit within me convicts me to no longer support this site by being a member of it.
I wish you all the best, and pray that the Spirit continues to help you grow your relationships with the Lord.
I'll only be here long enough to hopefully get in touch with some people here who have become very dear to my heart and get their email addresses, and then I'm gone.

For the past few days, there is something that God has presented to me in various ways: in scripture, at work, church, and here within chat and the blogs.
With Christmas fast approaching and the New Years Eve celebration just 6 days later, it brings to mind for me that not everyone feels the joy that is normally associated with this time of year.
While some people will be spending time with family or friends, there are others who will be spending this time alone - some by choice, others by various circumstances.
There are also many who will be dealing with:
Homelessness Drug or alcohol problems Mental or physical disabilities Money troubles Depression Legal problems Relationship problems Physical or emotional abuse Lack of employment No health insurance
It goes on, and on. And some issues like depression often can lead to others.
I'm not posting this to make anyone feel guilty or point fingers at anyone. I just want to remind everyone that during this time of year the enemy isn't going to simply just sit back and let us commemorate the birth of our Saviour, he's going to come at us with all guns blazing!
He and his army are predators and will attack us when we are at our weakest. So don't freely give them any opportunity to do so.
We shouldn't be so quick to focus on what we DON'T have, but instead should be mindful of what we DO have, and give thanks to the Lord for those blessings.
We should also not be so quick to discount or ignore what other members on this site might be dealing with just because they are normally cheerful or helpful. Neither should we be critical or belittle them if what they are dealing with seems insignificant to us - Hebrews 3:13(KJV) But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened though the deceitfulness of sin
So please, think before you type a post in chat or in a blog and hit 'enter'. A few simple words could be enough to either pull someone back from the edge, or push them over it.
So have a safe and Merry Christmas, and may God bless you abundantly.

Music within our lives

A few days ago I got to thinking about music and how it's involved in our daily lives.
It's exhibited in every culture, is used for enjoyment, praise to a "higher power", and various other things relating to a daily life.
I'm curious as to what genres of music have not only been an influence in your life, but which you currently relate and listen to the most.
What initially got my interest in this is, during a recent service at the church I attend, as is customary, we come before the Lord in prayer. Followed by worship and praise to Him in song prior to the sermon of that day being taught, as well as afterward. And like a good many churches, our church enlists a projector that displays the lyrics for each song or hymn displayed on a wall as it's being sung.
Ok, ok, I'll get to the point!
Most of us have either memorized the lyrics to our favorite songs and songs we're familiar with, or will use a hymn book or projected lyrics like I mentioned to sing along. But how many have actually READ the lyrics? Sang the words, and MEANT every one of them? "Experienced" the words with more than just head and heart, but from the Holy Spirit residing within?
Myself, I was once a fan of most Rock and Roll music, including some of the more extreme "Heavy Metal" style music. But after actually reading and listening to the lyrics I was more than astonished, I was disgusted and embarrassed at the lyrics that I had been singing along to all those years! It's safe to say, I stopped listening to that music immediately.
Over the past year or so my musical tastes have been more towards instrumental music, artists like Lindsey Sterling (violinist) and Pavlo (Spanish acoustical guitar). Very soothing, and is what I stream from my phone while at work. My Christian based musical tastes are in bands like Stryper and Petra (I like the guitar riffs ), and others like Chris Tomlin, Kutless, and a few others.
So while we are all similar in that we are all of the Lord, please keep in mind that He has also blessed each of us with our own personalities. And being so we will have differing views and musical tastes resulting from our individual circumstances, and how we were raised.
This isn't about who worships and praises our Lord "correctly", or who's musical tastes are in line with His will. So please, let's play nice in our comments.

Although I've only been a member here for a short time, it's very obvious that this site doesn't vary much from many other chat sites.
The main similarities are that the membership here is comprised of people of different genders, nationalities, cultures, religious beliefs, political beliefs, etc.
One similarity that is both surprising and disappointing is, that this being a purportedly spiritually based site there are what I'm sure many would consider as personal attacks on others either in the chat rooms, or within personal blogs.
Trying to force feed one persons beliefs onto others by calling them and / or their beliefs anti-Christian, sadistic, evil, or even just calling their beliefs wrong doesn't make that one persons beliefs the right ones, just the loudest being proclaimed.
And then there's the name calling. I've seen members typing hateful comments, sometimes even using vulgarities, all because they disagree with what another person posted. This also doesn't validate one persons opinion over another's, but in effect it throws doubt as to the intentions of anyone's opinion from that point on.
Don't even get me started about the gossip and back biting. Are we not adults here?
If our goal here on earth is to follow our Savior's directions and the example that He set for us, then we are failing miserably. To my knowledge Jesus never once used vulgar language to get His point across to an audience, nor did He turn away anyone who honestly wanted to follow Him and learn how to grow in the Lord.
I'm not perfect, I never have or will ever claim to be so. I will stumble, yet will always stand again to continue my journey. Sometimes it may take longer than others to regain my footing, but I WILL stand again. So please feel free to correct anything that I've posted that might be incorrect. I'm not afraid of constructive criticism. And please, PLEASE prove me wrong by doing so without being forceful, disrespectful or vulgar about it.
At the end of the day I will love and pray for anyone and everyone, because I will give my most earnest effort to try to do what our Lord Jesus Christ Himself would do. That's MY goal.
