Way to go Mexico!!!

We seldom here good news come from Mexico. I drummed this up from a BBC report. It seems like for so long Mexico was just sitting back, kinda like Pakistan, letting the underworld operate un-threatend. So it's pretty cool to see that maybe there is some hope for that country.

I have been to Rosarito and Tijuana both, and I always thought it was pretty corrupt. It's refreshing to see some change for the good taking place. Praise God!

The Mexican army has confiscated guns from the entire police force of the town of Rosarito, near the Mexican border with the US.

Mexican authorities suspect that the town's police have been colluding with drug trafficking gangs.

Mexican troops carried out a similar crackdown in January on Tijuana police.

The Rosarito force's 200 guns will be examined to see whether any were used in an attack on the town's police chief earlier this month.

One of his bodyguards was killed in the attack.

'Purging the ranks'

"We recognise that the enemy is inside our house and for this reason we are purging the ranks - we need to have confidence in our police," Baja California state police chief Daniel de la Rosa said.

drug gangs are strong in Mexico's border region, which includes Rosarito, a beach resort town south of Tijuana.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon has deployed about 25,000 troops to the region, and to the western state of Michoacan, since taking office 12 months ago.

Some 2,500 people have died so far in 2007 in turf wars between rival Mexican drugs gangs.

The only thing I know about Mexico is the illegal immigrant situation. Our news doesn't cover much of what happens there. I have heard bad reports about the Mexican President so it's heartening to hear this report!

Reminds me of the film "Serpico"(staring Al Pachino)the true life story of a NY cop who challenged corruption in the police force.
It`s alway inspiring when crime gets it`s come-upence.
It kills me to watch the drug dealers in my area prosper, and even become minor celebrities.

Speaking of Mexico, How many of you are paying attention to NAFTA. I'm a trucker and NAFTA is going to really hurt the US and Canadian trucking industry. Did you know that the 1st Port of entry for Mexican trucks (running under NAFTA) coming into the U.S. is Kansas City MO!?!

I don't want to get to far off track here, but unless your involved in the traffic and frieght industry you probably don't pay a whole lot of attention.

Originally our interstate system was set up to connect all of our military bases. they are built to a standard of being able to handle tanks and heavy military equipment. In case of a threat to the homeland. Yet sections of our interstate system are being sold off to foreign countries and foreign investors. Indiana Sold it's toll road I-80 to foreign investors to relieve some of it's debt.

I-35 and part of I-94 and a few other misc pieces of Interstate Under the NAFTA agreement will someday be controlled by Mexico. Mexico already has been given the rights to collecting tolls off those roads when they are up graded to NAFTA spec's.

Don't believe everything you think, God is not a cookie cutter God!
