I think it bank rolls the Prosperity Pastors. "I know your affliction and your poverty ... be faithful until death, and I will give you a crown of life" Rev.2:8-11 Does this mean we all should be in a state of poverty? No, thats not the point, but Gods solution to the church in Smyrna wasn't the prosperity gospel. Its was remaining faithful to him. You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.

As far as I am aware prosperity teaching is largely based on one verse Jeremiah 29v11: "I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you..." It seems to me that the prosperity teachers fail to put this promise in context - it is given at the beginning of 70 years captivity in Babylon! Read on in chapter 29 and it is clear the prosperity promise refers to the deliverance 70 years later - but a lot of captivity has to be endured in the meantime! Oh, one more thing. There is no indication that "prosperity" here means material prosperity. Live long and...well you know! Peter "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth" 2 Timothy 2 v 15

True prosperity is being filled with God's love. I always wonder why those people ask us to send money to them. Isn't God making them rich? God Bless You, also!
