So you want to be pro life. I was having a hard time before the election choosing the candidate I would vote for. Now I know that many of you seem to be turned off by Obama. I also know that many Christians tend to vote for a republican because their platform is a prolife one. I wonder though if that is the only reason why you would vote for a republican and not for a dem, does that make it the right choice for a Christian. I've been witness to fiery debates around my Christian brothers and sisters at the small home church I attend and it hasn't been pretty. Some people have left. Can you believe that??? I know I can't. Seems like a petty reason to leave a church. My fellow brothers and sisters, if we were to have a government that would make abortion illegal, it would still be going on behind illegal closed doors. Would your mission be accomplished? My challenge to you... start really being prolife, work with teenagers who are growing up in broken homes, get the message out there on what abortion really is, there are teenage and young women looking for love in the wrong ways and babies are being born out of it or aborted. These girls need a lot of love, they need CHRIST LOVE. They need to know that they have value and worth!! I myself was talked out of an abortion a little over 2 years ago. My sisters in the church barged into my apartment after they got word of my plans. If that wouldn't have taken place, my Joshua would be in a landfill somewhere. Be Jesus' hands and feet. Talk to people, love them and help show them there is a better way!!! God Bless. |

I voted for McCain for his experience mostly...But would not have if he was pro abortion....If they were both pro abortion I would have just stayed home and prayed....The subject of abortion came into my life when I was eighteen and I never considered it....I was not living a Christian life by any means at the time....quite far from it!...I always had the sense that it was a life and I needed to protect it....Even from a secular point of view...[Im not sure if that can be secular thinking?}....Im so greatful I didnt do that....My oldest daughter Jennifer is awesome as you know Joshua is as well....GBY ‘HE will rule them with an iron scepter.’... He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.... On HIS robe and on HIS thigh HE has this name written:... KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."

Sarah, I agree completely that we've got to be God's hands and feet and reach out to our youth who are so longing for love they try to find it in all the wrong places. What I REALLY have a problem with is government-funded abortions. I do NOT want one cent of MY money going to fund an abortion!!!!! I have a beautiful 24-yr-old stepdaughter who was conceived when her mom was 16 and thankfully her parents didn't succeed in convincing her mom to get an abortion, tho they sure tried!!! A little over a year ago, my brother's girlfriend got pregnant and though my brother DESPERATELY wanted the baby, she ended up terminating the pregnancy. They say it's the woman's body. Well, what about the innocent baby in the womb or what about the FATHER who desperately wants that child but has no say, whatsoever??!? Yes, this is a very emotionally charged issue, and I will admit it is especially so for me, as I am unable to have biological children myself. I have a BEAUTIFUL son who's now 12, whom was adopted when he was 6. But the thought of all these women who are given such a precious gift that they just throw away just turns my stomach. There are so many just like me unable to have biological children. Anyway, just my two-cents worth. Prolly about all it's worth! GBY!! ![]() Cathy "For He must become greater; I must become less." So you think that the abortion issue is the only reason why a Christian would prefer to vote for a Republican rather than a Democrat??? There are many reasons why a Christian should think twice before voting Dem. First of all, everyone has the right to vote for who ever they want to, this is still a free country, at least, so far. Second, there is no perfect political party as we are all fallen creatures. Third, the problem isn't really Republican or Democrat, it is Liberal verses Conservatives. Conservatives tend to support the Constitution of the United States as it was written. It was written following Christian values. Many Christians tend to be Conservatives politically. Liberals want to change the Constitution to suit their anti-christian views. It is the Liberals who want make us into a completely secular or atheistic society. They tend to want nothing to do with the Bible or Christian values whatsoever. Now you will find some liberals in the Republican party, but most conservatives are in the Republican party and most liberals are in the Democrat party. That's why the Democrats are always for things like abortion on demand, gay rights, and always opposed to anything Biblical or having anything at all to do with Christianity in a public setting. Never mind that our nation was founded on these Christian principals. Liberal are doing all they can to erode our Christian freedoms that our founding fathers set up under inspiration from God. The founding fathers were not perfect, because no one is except Christ Jesus. If the the Liberals are successful in eliminating our Christian freedom, this nation will cease to be a free country. It will be a Liberal dictatorship. Now that the Liberals have captured Washington, they are even now threatening to invoke the so-called fairness doctrine which is actually designed to eliminate Christian broadcasting from radio and television. Eventually the libs will succeed and it will be illegal to be a Christian, persecution is on the way, even in America. We are getting near to the time of the Great Tribulation and the rise of the Antichrist. But the Lord told us to occupy til He comes back to take the true Church out of this world. Ultimately, Christ will return in the Great Second Coming to rule and reign righteously from Jerusalem. The election is over, whether we voted for these people or not, the Bible tells us we are to pray for our leaders for wisdom and direction. They will not be able to solve our problems. The world's problems will not be solved until the Prince of Peace comes back to rule personally. ~ Believe His Word and trust His grace ~

I know that that is not the only reason why a Christian may want to vote for a republican. Just an issue that was huge around the circles I am close to and also a personal issue for me that made it difficult to make my decision.

I hope you didn't take my commentary personally. You see, I have heard this argument before many times. Many people have said that Christians were voting Republican simply because of the Abortion issue. I was merely trying to point out that there are many reasons for a conservative Christian to oppose and be appalled by the Liberal Democrat party platform. I only listed a few concerns. How a person votes is their own business and it between them and God. The Scriptures tell us that it God who set up kings and brings them down. Now that Obama has been elected President, we are instructed by Scripture to pray for him. Whether President Obama will turn out to be a blessing for America or a curse, remains to be seen. Only the Lord knows, let us pray diligently for Obama. ~ Believe His Word and trust His grace ~

No I didn't take it personally. I do know however that some people I know have voted for republicans only because of the abortion issue, which I can totally understand. It is a big issue for me. To vote though and not actually be a Christian in action helping people to change there minds and bandage their wounds is kind of counter productive. I do not really consider myself a dem or a repub, and I have nothing against either one, well except I wish the democrats were pro choice and against gay marriage. Oh well. I'm glad the election is over so people will start talking about other things at church!!!!

I agree about abortion. And the Republicans are no more Christian than the Democrats. They just have a different interpretation of Christian. When Republicans were in control of Congress and the Presidency, they didn't even try to outlaw abortion, but they keep campaigning on it. Republican faithful need to knock some sense into their elected officials, because those officials are playing them for fools!
