Question? If you are disabled R U exempt from tithing?

Since we have a bunch of bible scholars on BC, had a question for you. A friend of mine told me that he was exempt from tithing becuz he was disabled. He's not very good at quoting and says its in first peter, but i read that book and didnt see anything...does anybody know where this scripture is at.
Oh and just how this came up, we were just on the topic of giving....Thanks for your inputs!

Can't find it either. I think he may be referring to Acts 3 where John and Peter encountered a lame man begging for alms at the entrance to the Temple. Take a look.

I agree with Meow33744 about the widow who put her last mite in the box. It's all a matter of one's own faith. Keep that in mind when you speak with him. In time, each of us should be growing in faith according to God's will.

well Jesus taught giving. Tithing was never about money in the old testament despite the use of money. It was usually wheat. It was usally more than 10% too There were different tithes and in one case it was a one time thing.

The giving Jesus taught included our time and all kinds of things. money was only a part of it. Tithing in America was first taught in 1873. The reformers said it was unscriptural. Jesus never tithed, nor did his disciples or the poor.

In Malachai, if you read chapters one and two it is addressed to the Leviticus Priests who were witholding the best wheat/food for themselves and God was upset with them. It was alsp a time of drought. Malachai was telling them if they would just do the right thing, God would pour out blessings from Heaven (Rain). Malachai is one of the most abused book in the bible by preachers.

Let me restate, Giving is good. Its good to support. But you are under no curse or responsibility. You are under the Holy Spirits leading. Thats it.

a great writing is found if you google : should the church teach tithing Dr Kelley
Its awesome and fully scripturally explained

Thank you for your input everyone...he's not good with scriptures and i honestly dont really think he's disabled in that sense, he's just got some pains inside, but he walks, talks, goes to the gym, and plus My Jesus can heal. he's just not into the tithing thing. anyway...thanks everyone! God bless you!
