A Teaching on the "Jezebel Spirit" THE DAKE ANNOTATED REFERENCE BIBLE (which I am using for this study)...this is not Jezebel that was married to King Ahab...but a woman in the local church at Thyatira. This local woman had been given time to repent, but did not. Rev. 2v20 "Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess. to teach and seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols." (notation by me: idol worship breaks the commandments of God;;in the following verse the LORD calls this worship "fornication" ) (fornication is sexual intercourse between an unmarried man and unmarried woman;;the LORD takes to Himself as a BRIDE the one who gives their heart to Him) v21 "And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not." v22 "Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds." v23 "And I will kill her with death; and all the churches shall know that I AM He which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give iunto every one of you according to your works." (death: we have seen and can see today, those who do not repent, coming to an early death) v24 "But unto you I say, and unto the rest of Thyatira, as many as have not this DOCTRINE, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden." Gnostics called their doctrine "the depths of God," but here Christ called it the depths of satan (Rev 12v9). (definition of Gnosticism: a treand of religious thought with Far Eastern origins which flourished in the Hellenistic Near East. There were numerous Gnostic sects, both pagan and Christian. The Christian Gnostics denied the literal meaning of the Scriptures and saw only an esoteric meaning based on gnosis, e.g. they did not believe that a real Jesus was really crucified. (gnosis= a divinely inspired knowledge) Rev 12v9 "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which DECEIVTH the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." So what the Word of God is saying in effect, is that the spirit of Jezebel is a spirit of deception. deception= a tricking, deceiving // the state of being deceived // something that deceives or tricks, a hoax, imposture deceptive= misleading.....(in other words...my notation) "led astray". THYATIRA a city in the provence of Asia, on the boundary of Lydia and Mysia famous for weaving and dyeing. Lydia, whom Paul met in Phillipi, was a Tyatiran seller of "turkey red," the product of the madder-root (Acts 16v14). It is curious to find another woman, nicknamed after the princess who sealed Ahab's trading partnership with the Phoenicians, leading a party of compromise in Thyatiran church (Rev 2v20-21) Zondervan Bible Dictionary TURKEY RED Dyeing is a very ancient art, first recorded during the Bronze Age in Europe (2500-800 BC). This first use of the blue dye, woad, beloved by the Ancient Britons, may have originated in Palestine where it was found growing wild. The most famous and highly prized colour down the ages was Tyrian purple, a dye obtained from certain shellfish. Its use persisted through the Middle Ages and because of the cost of collection, it was a mark of nobility. It took some 12,000 shellfish to extract 1.5 grams of the pure dye. Legend credits its discovery to Herakles, or rather to his dog, whose mouth was stained purple from chewing on snails along the Levantine coast. King Phoenix received a purple-dyed robe from Herakles and decreed the rulers of Phoenicia should wear this color as a royal symbol. Insect and snail animal-based colors were mentioned in the Bible for use in textile furnishings of the Tabernacle and for the sacred vestments for the High Priest Aaron, and they also were used in King Solomon's and King Herod's temples in Jerusalem. With the decline of the Roman Empire, the use of “Tyrian Purple” also declined, and large-scale production ceased with the fall of Constantinople in 1453 A.D. I have read many different theories on the Jezebel Spirit and most of it was tainted by alot of woman haters. One aspect of a religious spirit is a despising of woman whom God has created to be mans help mate. Jezebel operates in a form of religion that is deceptive and counterfeit to the truth. This spirit absolutely hates the prophetic and persecutes the true prophets of God. This spirit is active in many churches and dominates alot of pulpits. Watch a true prophet come out of the closet and bring a word of correction and the Jezebel will rear its ugly head. It hates truth. Isaiah 42:8 " I am the Lord; that is my name! And My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images."

Beloved Rhonda, AMEN ! I am thankful for the Shepherd's voice. I am doing these posts because of 777Eli asking the question about the "spirit of Jezebel". I will be sure to check out spiritfilled blog on Jezebel. Seems that many are questioning this "spirit". I am not certain who first brought up the matter. I am merely adding to the current posts. I just sort of stumbled onto this one here. I had pretty much thought that discussions of Jezebel was over with back in Eli's blog when it seemed apparent that she had made up her mind. Isaiah 66:2b; But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.

I posted this on 9/25 at 2:39am CDT. I was posting my knowledge of the matter. Not to offend anyone. In fact, I thought the blog for Eli was to get things brought to the table. I didn't realize I was bringing offence with the truth I posted. I have had head to head dealing with this personage Jezebel. As was said it can work both in a male or female. It always comes in where the prophetic is working in someone. And close behind is Ahab. Perhaps one day I will get to tell the whole story. Be blessed and not offended. I didn't realize I was bringing offence with the truth I posted. I have had head to head dealing with this personage Jezebel. As was said it can work both in a male or female. With Great Love, Hiz4Ever † I think you may have misunderstood me. Please don't think I'm offended, because I'm not offended at all. The Jezebel spirit is a topic I find interesting, and a needful discussion for many, including myself. It was questions related to the Jezebel spirit that led me to the church to which I now belong. Many of the elements of discription given by Spiritfilled's articles reminded me of my ex-wife. I began an E-mail corrispondance with her to find out more, and she referred me to a book by Francis Frangipane about the Jezebel spirit. I got and read the book which was most impressive. A couple months later I was talking to Speeritwoman on the phone about spiritual warfare. She recomended another book by Francis Frangipane entitled, 'The Three Battlegrounds,' which I was having trouble finding. When I asked her where I can find that book, she read to me from the inside cover that it was published by River of Life Ministries, which is right here in Cedar Rapids where I live. River of Life is very well known and respected locally, I had even seriously considered checking it out sometime. (The spirit had been tugging at my heartstrings to switch to a spirit filled church) Then I found out that this Francis Frangipane, who I had been reading is that churches senior pastor. With two different godly people in two different states, that didn't know each other, both pointing me to the ministry of a particular man, who just happened to be in charge of one of the most respected Charasmatic churches in my home town, at a time when I could see by the spirit it was time for me to switch churches; was too profound to dismiss as coincidence. There was no doubt in my mind that God was calling me, and for once I obeyed. That was a year ago come late next month. Ever since then my life has changed almost daily. Dear Janice, I totally agree with every element of everything you have written about the Jezebel spirit. I got a feeling we are going to have some very interesting exchanges here. My Sister in Christ, Once again I'm amazed at God's timing. about 6 months ago I began an indepth study on 12 charachteristics of a Jezebel sprit. And, yes, it can come in the from of male or female--all this spirit cares is to squash the truth, stir up disention amoung the body of Christ,decvieve, and create confusion. TIMELY word for the times we are living in!!!! In Christs love Sister Lera Phillipians 2:8-11
