Days of Awe~*~*~*~Rosh Hasanah ^:-J Remembering our Jewish roots Rosh Hashanah - The Jewish New Year In Rabbinical Judaism, Rosh Hashanah (literally "the head of the year" ) is celebrated as Jewish New Years Day. The holiday is observed on the frist day of the Hebrew month of Tishri, which usually falls in September or October, and marks the beginning of a ten-day period of prayer, self examination and repentance (aseret yemei teshuvah), which culminates on the fast day of Yom Kippur. These ten days are referred to as Yamim Norai'm, the Days of Awe or the High Holy Days. Rosh Hashanah also remembers the creation of the universe by Adonai. This year Rosh Hashanah began on Sept 29th in Israel at sundown and runs 10 days. Yom Kippur will be celebrated Oct. 9th after sundown. Yom Kippur....the Day of Atonement (at one ment with God). "For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life." Greetings Hiz, Isn't yom kipper, the day "they" say that "Kol Nidre" prayer, asking a whole year in advance, to be forgive of all the evil "they" do? A study of the "Kol Nidre" prayer, will reveal this. Kinda sad that "they" would ask for pre-forgiveness. Kinda gives "them" a license to sin, cause hey, why not, "they" already said the "Kol Nidre" prayer at the beginning of "their" year. Why is it "they" start "their" year, as the days shorten? I am sure Moses was instructed the new year starts at the spring equinox. "They" must keep the fiscal new year then, cause "their" god, must be money. No King but CHRIST JESUS!!!
