'Temple in Waiting' Prepared in Jerusalem

'Temple in Waiting' Prepared in Jerusalem

CWN. org - The Temple Mount in Jerusalem is one of the most sacred places on earth, and one of the most contested.

For Jews, it's the place where the Holy Temple once stood.

Today Muslims control the Temple Mount and Jews are forbidden to worship there. But that hasn't stopped some people from making plans to build the next temple.

Everyday, three times a day, Jews recite this prayer: "May it be your will that the temple be speedily rebuilt in our own time."

It's a prayer they've prayed for almost 2,000 years. But today, Jews here in Jerusalem are doing more than just praying.

Just a few steps away from the western wall, rabbis and craftsmen are building what they call a "temple in waiting."

Chaim Richman is a director at the Temple Institute in Jerusalem.

"The Temple Institute is actively engaged in the research and preparation of the resumption of service in the holy temple to the extent of actually preparing operational blueprints for the construction of the temple according to the most modern standards," he said.

This menorah is just one of several vessels being created for the next temple. It's covered with 95 pounds of pure gold and has a price tag of $2 million.

Piece by piece, the third temple is taking shape, with priest's garments, vessels of copper, gold, and silver, and a new generation of Levite priests specially trained for temple service.

"We have enough in place now to resume divine service and to build the temple," Richman said. "But obviously, a lot of things have to happen in order for this to happen."

Richman isn't the only one who's ready to rebuild.

Some 3,000 years after King Solomon built the first Jewish temple, another Solomon is laying the foundations for the third one.

Gershon Solomon leads a group called The Temple Mount Faithful.

"From the womb of my mother, I have a task and a mission in my life, which is connected with the rebirth of Israel," he said.

The group commissioned these cornerstones for the third temple. The six-ton stones were consecrated with water from the biblical pool of Siloam and cut with diamonds.

For several years, Solomon and his followers tried to place the stones on the Temple Mount, and every year they were stopped by Israeli police.

"Unfortunately, weakness of the Israeli leadership did not allow us to bring the cornerstones to the right place," Solomon said. "The end-time temple should be built on the same location as the first and the second temple."

But that location is already occupied. The holiest site for Jews is also the third holiest site for Muslims.

"The issue of the Temple, it's so sensitive," Yousef Natsheh of the Palestnian Antiquities Authority explained. "It's not an undeniable fact; it's theories. The political situation, the misunderstanding, the mistrust distorted all the facts.

Muslim law forbids archaeologists from digging on the Temple Mount, so instead, Gabriel Barkay is digging through its trash.

"We have here the entire history of the Temple Mount," he said.

He and his team are sifting through truckloads of debris, unearthed by bulldozers and discarded by Muslim authorities.

Among their finds: an arrowhead from the Nabylonian invasion in 586 B.C. and a 2,400-year-old coin, the oldest ever minted in Jerusalem.

"A beautiful piece, tiny silver piece with an owl and the Hebrew inscription 'Yehud' which is the Aramaic name of Judea," Barkay said.

Some of the most dramatic traces of temple life have been unearthed here at the western wall.

On the walls, you can still see the marks from the fires that destroyed the temple in 70 A.D. Overturned stones are still lying where they were thrown from the top of the Temple Mount by the armies of Rome.

On one stone is a Hebrew inscription: "To the place of trumpeting."

Even more intriguing is the part of the western wall that's still underground.

Dan Bahat spent 40 years excavating the tunnels around the Temple Mount, and he says the most compelling case for the temple is yet to be discovered.

"I believe that behind this stone is a large arch which forms a storehouse, which stored all the treasures of the temple," he said. "In the future, when it will be possible to dig, maybe we'll get to there."

But Bahat's interest in the temple is strictly in its past, not in its future.

"There is no chance whatsoever for the third temple. The third temple will be when the Messiah comes," he said. "Both Jews and Christians are waiting for him so when he comes, let us see what happens. It won't happen before."

Greetings,
I thought Herod built the second temple and wall that they pray at, and Herod was an Idumean, or, Edomite, or a descendant of Esau? Now I know it was Herod that built a gymnasium there in the Greek fashion, and the "Maccabees" got pissed about it....Wasn't it Herod that appointed his relatives as high priests, after he had Johnathan killed?

No King but CHRIST JESUS!!!

There is no chance whatsoever for the third temple. The third temple will be when the Messiah comes," he said. "Both Jews and Christians are waiting for him so when he comes, let us see what happens. It won't happen before.

NOT TRUE!!!! THE JEWS WILL REBUILD THE TEMPLE AND WORSHIP ANTI CHRIST!!!

Jews have waited a very long time for the coming of their Messiah. They believe he will be a man that will deliver them from persecution, bring peace and security to Israel, and restore Jerusalem to her former spiritual state. Many Jews believe the time for their Messiah's appearance is imminent. Some believe it will happen yet before the year 2000!

The New Testament also predicts the appearance of a great world leader. This man will be known to Christians as the Antichrist. According to scripture, the antichrist will be heralded as a great peacemaker. Could Jews mistakenly accept this great peacemaker, the Antichrist, for their long-awaited and desired Messiah?
The Jews have always thought their Messiah would be a mortal male descendant from the House of David anointed by God. Under Messiah's reign, Jews from all over the world will be gathered to the land of Israel, and Jerusalem will be restored as the spiritual capital of the world. They also believe Messiah will bring about an era free of war, fear, hatred, and intolerance.
Some rabbis believe Messiah will rebuild their Temple, paving the way for them to resume animal sacrifices to atone for their sins. Others rabbis believe the Messiah will only return to an already built Temple (Malachi 3:1) where they are already sacrificing as they believe the scriptures instruct them to do.

Chaim Richman, Head of the Temple Institute in Israel, sums it up this way, "Regardless of whether the Temple is built before or after Messiah's appearance; the person who is a descendent of David but also completely human, who is the greatest teacher who ever lived, who has the power single-handedly to turn humanity back to its original spiritual values, and reconnect every person will be the Messiah."
The Antichrist will be a man that will ascend to power by bringing peace and diplomacy to the Middle East and thus the world. As the peace process is drawn to a conclusion, it is almost certain provisions will be made for the Jews to build their temple. Once the temple is rebuilt and sacrifice has begun, the Antichrist will enter the holy place. According to II Thessalonians 2:4, the Antichrist will exalt himself above, "...all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." As he proclaims himself their long-awaited Messiah, he will tell the Jews they no longer need to offer sacrifices.

According to Revelation 13:11-12, the Antichrist will also be promoted by a miracle-working religious partner. In fact Revelation 13:8 says, "And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in book of life of the Lamb.." The Antichrist will dominate world politics, eventually affecting every person on earth.

The Jews believe their Messiah will suddenly appear at the temple. The Bible prophesies the Antichrist will sit in the temple. The Jews believe that Messiah well bring peace to Israel and ultimately the world. The Antichrist will establish peace in this long troubled region. Daniel 8:25 says that he "...by peace shall destroy many..." Jews believe their Messiah will rule the world and return Jerusalem to being the spiritual capital of the world. The Bible predicts the Antichrist will rule the world with Jerusalem as his headquarters. The book of Revelation prophesies that the Antichrist will be worshipped by all people of the world whose names are not written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
It is obvious Jews are in real danger of believing the coming false Christ is really the true Christ. According to Daniel 11:30-32, many Jews will believe the Antichrist is their Messiah.
Fortunately, some Jews will resist this "false messiah." Jews that resist the Antichrist will come under severe persecution for three and one-half years. Ultimately, their true Messiah will appear, deliver them from the Antichrist, and usher in His promised 1000-year reign of peace.

The second beast fits well the man predicted by Jesus in John 5:43 who is also the false shepherd of Israel spoken of by the prophet Zechariah (11:15-17). Jesus said of this man, "I have come in my Father's name and you (Jews) would not receive me. Another will come in his own name, him you will receive." This leader is also described as like a lamb, that is a counterfeit to the real Lamb of God. He is to be a religious leader-while the first beast is a military leader. This becomes more evident from studying the rest of the Book of Revelation where the first beast is a likened to a Roman Caesar leading the western nations centered in Europe. The last and final form of the revived Roman Empire and its rulers is that foreseen in Daniel 2 and 7. In summary, the end-time period is marked by the presence of a great and powerful military leader in the West and an outstanding religious leader in Israel who works in league with him.

The Jews will rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. During the tribulation we read that the man of sin will sit in the temple of God showing himself that he is God (2 Thessalonians 2:3-12). The title "man of sin" is one of the names for the Antichrist. This Antichrist will use the rebuilt temple to reveal his true character. His true character is revealed in several ways:

* He takes the place of God and deems worship for himself (2 Thessalonians 2:3,4).
* He sets up an image in the holy place of the temple (Revelation 13:14).
* He demands that all should worship the image of the beast (Revelation 13:15).
* He seeks to get everyone to receive the mark of the beast in their right hand or their foreheads (Revelation 13:16).

It is clear from the above that the temple must be rebuilt sometime before the Antichrist uses it to reveal his true character.

Daniel 9:27 and Revelation 13 tell us that the Antichrist will not reveal his true character until the middle of the tribulation period. So the temple must be rebuilt before the tribulation period begins or during the first three and one half years of the tribulation period.

There have been many printed reports of the desire of the Jews to rebuild their temple. They want to build it on Mount Moriah. However, there is now a Muslim mosque on the spot where the temple should be built. If the mosque were to be removed to make way for the temple, it would cause a loud outcry from the Muslim community.

But when the time comes, we know that the temple will be rebuilt because "Scripture cannot be broken" (John 10:35).

Isaiah 42:8 " I am the Lord; that is my name! And My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images."

Israel will rebuild the Temple to fulfill End-Times prophecy

American Jews are preparing to rebuild for the ancient Temple in Jerusalem to be rebuilt. If they are familiar with the Hebrew and Christian scriptures, then they must surely be aware that in Bible prophecy the rebuilding of the Temple is the final sign before Judgement Day and the End of the World. You may not believe in prophecy but, among the leaders of nations, there are men who do. ***

Orly Benny-Davis has come a long way from her youth in Ramat Gan. Today a well-known US political activist, Benny-Davis ran for the senate last year in her home state of South Carolina. On Monday night, she was in Jerusalem to attend the 11th annual Temple Mount dinner and to help speed up the construction of the third temple.

Close to 1,000 right-wing religious activists converged on the Jerusalem International Convention Center to celebrate Tu Bishvat and listen to speakers on various topics ranging from what the economy will be like in the time of the third temple to what type of government is ideal according to the Torah.

"The temple is part of our history," Benny-Davis, who sponsored the festivities, told The Jerusalem Post. "When I argue with people who criticize us that we are occupying another nation, I explain to them that the land has been ours for thousands of years. Just look at the Temple Mount."

The Jews, she says, deserve a temple just like the Christians and the Muslims.

"Look at what the Italians did in Rome with the Vatican and how much money they make," Benny-Davis, who spent 15 years living in Italy, said. "The Muslims also have a temple, and we, who came back to our land 2,000 years later, don't have one, which is needed to initiate the final return to Israel."

Calling her 2004 bid for the senate "a battle for God," Benny-Davis said she is in the process of lobbying congressmen to pass a resolution that would ensure Israel retains sovereignty over all of the holy sites, including the Temple Mount.

The point of the festive dinner, she said, is to get people excited about their Jewish heritage. "We need to get the ball rolling and to get people excited to make things change," she said.

Prior to the festive dinner, the Temple Mount Faithful met in the foyer to look at the most recent temple artifacts Rabbi Menahem Makover, of the Temple Mount Institute in the Old City, has constructed.

Makover said his institute has already completed constructing all of the artifacts except for the altar, which needs to be physically constructed on the Mount.

How will the temple be rebuilt while the Muslim mosques are currently standing?

"No one knows how the temple will be built," he said. "But that is not the main issue. What we are here to do is to inform people of the importance of the temple and to show them it is not a theoretical idea but is real and alive."

Not everyone agrees with Makover that the way to rebuild the temple is not known.

"Maybe there will be a tsunami-like disaster similar to the one in Southeast Asia which killed hundreds of thousands of people," said Baruch Ben-Yosef, a member of the Temple Mount Faithful. "The mosques will be moved to Mecca where they should be, and we will climb the Mount to build an altar and conduct sacrifices."
