How often do you attend church?

Through comments on a few recent polls, my curiosity pushed me to ask the question...how often do BC'ers attend church. Please, humor me with your response...I really want to know.
I am actively involved in my church, rarely, if ever miss, and am involved in ministry or service through the church
I attend regularly, but I am not involved in any ministry or service
I attend occasionally
I rarely attend
I haven't been to church in years
I don't attend just one church, when I attend I randomly select a church
I'm looking for the right church

I attend regularly, holidays, and holy days. Sometimes my family and I volunteer for certain events. My sister and I have taken care of the basement activities and kitchen services, helped with the daycare program at times. It brings such a relaxed feeling every time we participate.

OMG:
I am so involved that I get bummed when I miss something in order to take care of my own apartment, or work, or to take care of business. Or when a couple events happen at the same time.

I attend two or three different services each week, one of which is at our regional prayer center which never closes, and is involved with 64 local churches.
I sometimes make it to Sunday school too. Up to 3 weekday, noon to 1 PM prayer hours in my churches 24/7 prayer room. I'm involved in the Men's ministry which meets weekly. I am taking a Sunday evening class. I help in our food pantry twice a week, and attend a bi-weekly prophetic prayer session.

We have a weekly city wide prayer session involving up to 34 local churches which I attend at least a couple each month.
Once a month is a healing service, of which I'm one of the back up team intercessors, and once a month an intra-racial group from 14 different churches interested in reconcilling different races and creeds within the Christian community meets, which I make when I can.

There is so much that it's impossible to make everything.
I love doing all this stuff, and hate missing anything, but I do need to find some kind of balance.

My husband is a teacher of the word of God, and teaches pastors and we have a bible study facility in our home which fits up to 18 people. We have 3 studies weekly, but we also go to a church building once a week.

We shall know them by their FRUIT, no matter what they profess...

We need to get out of this just Sunday going to church, if I don't have a car or even been times where I can't afford the bus fare in the past. I walk, my walk from home to church is about 40 mins there on foot and 40 mins back and I wouldn't miss church for anything. I have just recently been involved with midweek pastorate groups and now doing Alpha to get more grounded as God is using Alpha in mighty ways and I am meeting some absolutely fantastic people. Then because I have visited several churches I have gained loads of pals and always invited to their homes or out for food or entertainment. For those who don't go to church, how on earth to you expect to get to heaven. Pick up that bible and read, if you struggle with the bible get the talking bible on CD......I could go on and on but I won't. Also remember first and foremost is a relationship with Jesus.

A lot of questions. Most of the answers are yes.

Not trying to be a smart alec, or present a puffed up image of myself, but...
I give rides to church when I'm aware of someone who needs one.
I have taken groceries to people in conjunction with the food pantry.
I lack the finincial means to purchase groceries for people myself to deliver.
I recently became a godfather to a teenage girl whose natural father has abandoned her. In fact I just got home from taking her to a Newsboys Christian concert. She had a great time.

An older man in my congregation recently went to the hospital for several days, and I did visit him.
I grow tomatoes, and have been giving them to neighbors right and left. On several occasions when neighbors were hanging out on the porch or in the front yard, I have ordered pizza for all of us. But I make a quick exit as soon as anyone starts smoking marijuana.

I don't know anyone in prison, nor have I pursued that venture. But I have written to people in the service, and donated to care packages for them. I used to be involved in a pen pal program with school aged children, but it has been determined that I no longer qualify for that program because I am divorced.

Finally 18 years ago, I married a lazy woman on welfare with 2 children against advice given to me, and my own better judgement.
I adopted the children, raised them both, and put one of them through college. I totally supported all three for over 16 years, without ever a complaint. The marriage failed a couple years ago, and I gave her literally everything and started over again not even knowing when I would eat next.
In divorce court she was awarded allimony consisting of 22% of my gross income, which I didn't question, and I agreed to pay one half of all her debts.
Meanwhile she is now co-habbitating with the man she is engaged to, and has postponed their wedding so that they save up out of the support I pay so that they can have a bigger honeymoon.

But now we have gotten away from the subject of the blog, which wasn't how chartiable we are, but how often we attend church.
Could I become more charitable? Sure I can, but that's not what all my church activities are about. They are about my training for something that God has planned for me in the future. When the training program that God has me on is complete, so will the list of my activities. To what, I have no idea.

Nor was I listing my activites to make a show of what a great guy I am. In fact that wasn't on my mind at all. I don't make it to everything, and didn't claim to, but that is all the stuff I have at least some kind of involvement in to some degree.
Not being defensive, just answering.

I attend church regularly on Sunday and a Bible Study mid-week. I do not have a "formal" regular ministry that I am involved with but my job allows me to minister to people in need daily and I have a strong prayer life.

I attend Sunday School, then teach during the morning service, then attend Sunday evening, and go on Wednesdays unless I'm absolutely exhausted. I also get involved in other activities that my church does.

i just voted, and then decided to read some of the posts. whew i'm glad you all don't attend the same service, such discord and belittling of each other. it kinda seemed liked you were ripping each other apart or strongly defending your rights or "good works". this is what keeps people from attending church.

In my bible it says LOVE is the key. Jesus says above all else you must have love. If love is not found in your heart, then you are void of the Spirit of God. I

I am far from perfect. I am a sinner, needing to repent daily and be renewed with the Holy Spirit.

The line Frazzie was reffering to was OMG= Oh My God?... IS that your interpitation of using the lords mane in vein?

Did any of you read the post, she does not attend church regular, she is a new babe in christ! wow where is the compassion of the body of christ.
when ye do these unto the least of these ye have done it unto me saith the lord... Hence look how you all just treated Jesus!

John The Baptist said it best. Repent and be saved! is this not done daily repenting from our sinfull nature.

just sayin'

please pray for me and each other. pray for your enemies. pray for those who despitefully use you!

back to the reply post

Oh yes and i attend regular sunday morning 9:00 am life groups, sunday morning 10:45 am service, there is no sun night services. involved in wed night ministries and some other volunteer and community services.

I totally agree. Going to church a lot, or performing good works does NOT get one into heaven.
If I came accross as someone who is self-rightious, or better then someone else because of my church involvement, that is NOT what I was trying to communicate, nor do I wish to make anyone feel a certain way over how they conduct their own spiritual life. I was simply answering the question with no thoughts of comparison.

I have no rightiousness in or of myself. For all the sins I've commited, I deserve to burn forever in the lake of fire with the Beast and his false prophet, and no action I ever take could change that.
PTL that Jesus Christ paid the price for me. It is only by what he did, and the grace of God that I will not get what I deserve.
I could never begin to try to repay my debt to the Lord.

With that I wish to make it perfectly clear that what I do is not out of guilt, or attempts to repay, or for the sake of good works. It is simply what I think is right for me, and every indication I have received points to the Lord concurring. Again this is MY walk, and nobody else's.

Now if someone wants to say I'm only playing church, and trying to be religious, they obviously don't know me at all.

If someone wants to point me out as a hipocrite, or sinner, I have no disagreement with that, for it's true. I am a hipocrite, a sinner, a blaphasmiser, a fornicator, a lier, a thief, a brawler, a heritic, argumentive, prideful, arrogant, stiff necked; and more other things then I care to list. I don't dispute any such accusation at all.

But I WILL dispute with anyone who would say, I've not been forgiven of all my sin and shortcomings. My Savior and Lord paid for me IN FULL with his dearest innocent blood. My ugly sins have been cast as far as the east is from the west, and he remembers them no more.

Therefore, anyone else who does remember them is NOT of the LORD, and is slapping him in the face over what he already paid for.

I go sunday morning where I operate the mulit-media and sometimes do the sunday school. Sunday afternoon is spent in fellowship with vising christians, I go sunday evening, then there's the afterservice tea fellowship and then to the praise night, which I am greatly involved with, the midweek prayer and bible study. the women for mission , christian film nights , and other activities that I help our youth worker with.So I practically live in the Church really. I love it . If your not a christian 24/7 or seeking out his people in fellowship what are you doing?

Be Blessed Lucy

Not all women on welfare are lazy, anymore then all people who go to church are religious hipocrites. But my ex is one such person. I don't say this to put her down, but it is the truth.

Welfare was set up for a purpose, and as long as it's used for that purpose, it can be a great help to those who need it. However like many good things people can abuse it.

Of coarse the Lord is more concerned with heart issues then church attendence, and it may well be that he would be unhappy with many people, but that is not my concern. I do the best I can to make him happy with me, and as for the rest, I can't walk for them, but I can and do pray for them.

May you find a home church that you enjoy as much as I enjoy mine, and may the Lord bless you with a car to get you there.

Amen Sister! I used to only go on Sundays but now I'm working as a sound guy and helping out with other odds n ends I also go on Wednesdays and now I can't imagine not going mid-week. It is so spiritually uplifting, particularly if the week is going rather rough. I even love and look forward to Saturday morning men's fellowship...believe it or not, even now during hunting season!
