Winding down...

Christmas lunch went well! Everyone was complimenting my cooking...Mom suggested Christmas lunch at my house should be a new tradition.

Everyone is gone, everything is cleaned up. My oldest just left. Its always sad when he leaves, but it was good having him here Christmas eve through tonight. He said he was going to take down his Christmas tree when he gets home.

I have PLENTY of leftovers if anyone wants to stop by! I over did it on the volume of food. I didn't want to run out! My middle suggested I make homemade vegetable soup tomorrow with the leftovers - smart !

Anyhow, I hope everyone's day was as blessed as mine...

Jim, so funny. We have our holiday celebrations at my Mom's house. A few times we went elsewhere like the time they were sick, my brother hosted it. Two other times my sister did. But as the family grew we rented out the American Legion Hall.

But the family wanted memories for their kids and their kids kids to be at Grandma's house, so back we are crammed into the 3 bedroom Cape Cod style house with a large family room/dining room addition but the house that at one point held 13 people.

Hey, a family has to do what a family has to do at certain times in their lives and especially during crisis. We did learn the togetherness of a family and that there is always room for more. That families stick together especially during crisis. Some of our most fun times were when we were all together at the beach where my Sis lives and everyone sleeping all over the place. My family is a MOB in size and loads of fun. For my nieces wedding at the beach, we all took over a small motel and had a blast and that was my immediate family!!!!

However, I get stuck cooking the extra turkey or rib roast or pork roast, etc... so that we have enough food. We both cooked 20 lb turkeys this Thanksgiving and mine fell off the bone and was juicy and soft. My Mom's was dry, so my brother that cuts it says WOW this is amazing. Shoot, I was hoping it stunk, so I wasn't stuck doing that every year, but it's now probably 8 years later and Ginny is still cooking the "extra" something that we are having each year.

For Christmas that we are celebrating on Saturday with them, I am cooking the "extra" Pork Roast. I think they rant and rave to keep me cooking. Lovely!! I say that with a smile.

Hey, at least I am not hosting all those people in my house, a 3 Bedroom Cape Cod style WITHOUT the addition of a family room/dining room.

Besides the veggies and the deserts, what did you cook. If you mentioned it in an earlier post sorry if I missed it. Veg soup sounds great. My kids love soup. I am forever trying new recipes. Creamy is my favorite.
