Great post Terrie. I remember years ago hearing a talk on praise. The speaker said that many people never get past "Praise you, Lord. Praise you, Lord." To say that is an exhortation to praise, not praise in and of itself. Its kind of like saying "Dishes, I wash you, but never actually washing them." To praise Him would be more like saying "Lord you are worthy, awesome in majesty and splendor." It would be to comment on His wonderful attributes and acts.

I like your comment on praising "Him in all circumstances, especially when you don't feel like it". Our circumstances never change who He is, He is always worthy to be praised, no matter what. We praise Him because of who He is, because He is worthy. I love the scripture in Habbakkuk 3 "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior." You will know where your joy and hope lies when you are tested in this...but, oh, the breakthrough when the concept is grasped!

Thanks for sharing words of wisdom.

Amen Terri! Praise Him Anyway! I used to have a t-shirt with that on it. It was ironic That my ex came over (8 yrs ago) and terrorised me with a rifle for a night and half a day when I happened to have it on. I remember after the whole ordeal, looking down and seeing that. I definately praised Him. Thanks for reminding us to praise Him always! And I definately would have come to your ministry, if i was living there after that happened. So glad you're helping women! Blessings, Robin

I am blessed by your blog 'God inhabits the praises of His people' and thought should share you this. Hope you will find it a blessing:
Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah/ Praise
Rev 5.5, “And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” In this verse we see that Jesus is called ‘the Lion of the tribe of Judah.’ Genesis 29.35 “And she (Leah) conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah.” Now we see that Judah actually means praise. So Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of praise. In Isaiah Chapter 61 v 3 He says “…to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…”Acts 16.25 ‒ 26 “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.” I believe Paul and Silas knew what they were doing even at such mid-night hour in their lives they sang praises to Him, He (the Lion of the tribe of praise) reigned in their praises and moved like a wave, the prison was shaken as if an earthquake, locked doors were opened, chains were broken and they were set free. The great power God has put in our praises! Amen, I sing praises to you Jesus and you will continue to dwell in my praises.
