COMPUTER, I DON'T NEED YOU

Computer,
I don’t really need you,
I just don’t care if you’re there.
So why, when the screen can’t connect,
Do I find myself pulling my hair?

Before I had a computer
I got along just fine,
So why is it so crucial each day
That I spend all of this time?

I can’t go without checking email,
What if I got a letter?
Then I must write my replies,
From here it only gets better…

A friend needs to know where to buy something,
I can look that up I’m sure,
What is Scientology anyway?
Did I hear that cancer’s been cured?

What will the weather be like this week,
There’s some music I’d like to compose,
Oh, I forgot! There’s a date coming up,
I guess I should order some clothes.

Computer, I don’t really need you,
I know that it seems like I do,
But you got the wrong impression,
Sometimes that’s easy to do.

I realize the first thing I do
When I get out of my bed,
Is start you but just remember,
It’s like I already said----

I got along just fine without you,
If you “can’t connect” that’s okay,
After all, you aren’t my life,
I have a very full day.

I can go to the store and buy shoes,
Or fly a kite down the street,
The Girl Scouts are selling cookies,
Think I’ll go get a sweet treat.

A boat ride sounds like fun,
Maybe I’ll grow a plant,
I like to sit and watch nature,
I could go visit my aunt.

Oh, computer, forget that!
Come on! I’m down on my knees!
What do you want? New screensaver?
It’s yours!
Now connect!
Please!
