THE CHOSEN ONE

We should be flooded with tomatoes right now.
The gardeners around here love to grow tomatoes, some for the flavor, some just because it's fun.

But this year, the vegies just aren't coming on.
The Colony Collapse Disorder, with bees disappearing from hives, has gardens collapsing all over the place. Some bee keepers report 30-90 percent of the bees haven't returned to the hives.

So I've been outside, choosing a flower on a plant that looks promising, picking it, opening it, and spreading the pollen from that flower around to the other flowers on the same plant.
Hand pollenating.

And guess what?

I've got tomatoes!

A silly thing to be excited about, but in a year when there aren't many bees, and I'm new at this hand-pollenation stuff, I have to admit that I'm kind of happy.

Kind of happy?

Ha! I'm thrilled out of my gourd. (Whatever that means.)

It also got me thinking about how God might choose us for the gifts He chooses to give each one.
I go carefully through the plants, looking for the flower that is suitable for the task at hand, then carefully and gently use that flower to achieve growth.
Well, I'm careful and gentle with the other flowers. The flower that I choose gets picked, gets its petals pulled apart, then has to go all over the place, doing what's necessary.
If that flower could talk, would it gripe?
Or would it thank me for the privilege of helping?

Okay, I should tell you, though, that my main way of growing things is to put them in the ground, water them, then tell them, "Grow or die, it's up to you."
That's perfect for my lifestyle!! LOL

I'm pretty much pooped. But I love getting worn out doing enjoyable things. Hope you're doing well.
