SEARCH THE SCRIPTURE.............20/01/2005 God's Kindness and the New Life 11 God has shown us how kind he is by coming to save all people. 12 He taught us to give up our wicked ways and our worldly desires and to live decent and honest lives in this world. 13 We are filled with hope, as we wait for the glorious return of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. F4 14 He gave himself to rescue us from everything that is evil and to make our hearts pure. He wanted us to be his own people and to be eager to do right. 15 Teach these things, as you use your full authority to encourage and correct people. Make sure you earn everyone's respect. Titus 2v11-15(Contemporary English Version). |

Wooo Hooo, I love your blogs on searching scripture, and so I prayed about this one, because I do love it so so much. For the grace of God has appeared for the salvation of all men. Training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions and to live sober, upright, and godly in this present evil world. Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all iniquity and to purifiy for Himself a people of His own who are zealous for good deeds. Declare these things, and exhort, and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you. This is a scripture on working and waiting. v. 11 is the gospel of Jesus wrapped up for us here in a nutshell. So many people exclaim in despair, "Look what the world has come to!" But to me this verse is heralding, "Hey, look what has come to this world!" God has revealed His loving purpose of why Jesus came - for the salvation of mankind. v. 12 to renounce the passions of this world, that is to stand up against the traditions of man and religiosity and live: soberly - with self control righteously - dealing equitably with all others and godly - with reverence and respect for the law of God (love) v. 13 speaks of something really exciting that is yet to come. We have eager expectation of the return of Christ and because our hope is in God alone, then our expectation is sure to come true. v. 14 to redeem us, to cash in the blood He shed so that we get our discount ticket into heaven (I just love a bargain) and purify us, purification is through complete forgiveness, i.e. God cannot forgive our trespasses if we cannot forgive others (Matt. 6:14-15) which releases us from the domination of evil in our hearts and seals us; thus we are a "peculiar" people (different in nature than the rest of the unforgiving world) and a special people all His own who are zealous for good deeds - a life bound up in the needs and welfare and redemption of others which is always fresh, always new, always more satisfying because it is the abundant life. v. 15 we are not only to declare the message, but to encourage all who will listen to follow, the message of Christ's accomplished redemption and salvation is all important as well as speaking out against any opposing message that is not of love. Let no man disregard you - a light cannot be hidden so be sure that your light shines so bright that it can be seen by all mankind. Golly, Pastor John, you made my day! I have such a leap in my spirit when I read scriptures like this of the coming of our Lord. Thanks a lot, and I mean that!
