SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES...........MON 16/01/2006

Thanks for your interests in my blog.

From now on, I will be posting verses from the Word of God from day to day, God willing on a daily basis to strengthen and encourage us and increase our FAITH!

FOR TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

"11Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you. 12And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, 13so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints."

1THESS 3V11-13.

Thank You Brethren.

This Apostles Prayer is noteworthy to me because it exhaults Jesus and points out here His unity with God.

But very closely connected with the first part of the prayer is another which shows us the desire of the apostles heart is pointing to the Lordship of Jesus, which he prays will make us increase and abound in love to one another and all men.

Love to all men was especially hard for the Thessalonians because of the way they were treated, so this prayer was a real challenge to their faith. Such love was difficult, but is required to fulfill the law to love even our enemies.

The very goal of the prayer is that the Lord will establish our hearts unblameable in holiness before our God and Father.
A similar prayer is seen at the end of chapter 5.

The faith that Christ is Lord of all is foolishness to the multitude who claim to believe in Him, but a wonderful truth to all who seek Him with their whole hearts.

One of the greatest temptations of a Christian is to forget that while we may plant and another water, it is actually God who brings our increase.

In this use of the word increase is an unseen clause of required humility. This is even more amazing when we stop and think about Paul before his conversion experience, arrogant, proud, a Pharisee of the Pharisees. Christ had changed him in such a revolutionary way that he was a new creature.

I don't think that this generation will be getting any medals because of its humility, but it is time Christians move out of the tone of pride, particularily those who want to be teachers and leaders who are supposed to be God centered, but are more self centered.

Paul so often put an emphasis on brotherhood, with the Christian ethic hinged on unfailing love that would fulfill the tender prayer of Christ that we may all be one even as He and the Father were one; division is shameful.

I can only see this being fulfilled only with a major renewal and unity which will make our hearts ready to receive Him when the Lord comes.

Even so, come quickly, Lord.
