Covenant: The Mediator week 10 of 11

Hi Sisters,

The homework and class this week was very exciting and revealing even to the "most knowledgeable" types I hope you can also get something out of my post that inspires you and renews your spirit no matter where you are in your walk - our Lord is so awesome!!

It also will help if you do the homework required, nothing can replace getting into the Word to receive fullest inspiration.

Homework helps: Need a picture (black & white drawing is great ) of the Tabernacle, you will want to be able to draw on it.

Notebook paper with paragraph titles "Old Covenant" (the Mosaic law ) "New Covenant", Priest, Holy place & Heaven. Hopefully you will have much to write under these titles.

If possible print out Hebrews 9:1 - 10:25 cuz you will be marking it up if you can.

We have been studying and getting a good back round on the Arc of the Covenant so if you need a review of this it may help with your drawing. Understanding that this is THE SHADOW of what the Mercy Seat in Heaven actually is and you cannot have a shadow without light shining on a real object!

Another important point from the practices and ceremonies performed by the priests, these sacrifices were 'covering' sins performed in ignorance. There were some 613 laws in Mosaic Law and of course the 10 Commandments. They did not provide forgiveness, and importantly did not 'cover' willful disobedience. All a person could do then was throw themselves to the mercy of the Lord God. ( remembering King David here ).

My house is a little crazy right now, many + Am Idol = craziness!
So for now please read through Heb 9 & 10, more than once and start adding to your paragraph titles what you learn.
Jackie sweetie please hangest thou in-there, I promise it can change your life
As always please ask questions, we spent 10 weeks to get this far and important stuff may be overlooked.

Hi Sisters,

I wanted to get more of this up before Easter / Ressurection Day but it is a very busy time here! Hopefully the study of the Tabernacle and Hebrews Ch 9 & 10 was inspirational for such a special time.

Since I cannot re-type everything I have here, a brief overview for comparison is probably the best I can provide here. Google searches, libraries & churches can help if you need more info.

The outer court was the area Hebrews could enter the gate. This was 150' long x 75' wide.

The holy place/tabernacle proper was 45' long x 15' wide x 15' high, included the Holy of Holies. Only the priests could enter here ( outside the veil ) and did so daily. The whole part was also called the tent of meeting. Exodus 40:24

The Holy of Holies, tabernacle proper, was 15 x 15 x 15 and took up 1/3 of the tabernacle. It was separated by a veil made of blue, purple, & scarlet heavy twisted linen woven with gold. No one but the High Priest could enter here and only once a year on the Day of Atonement. He had to enter with the altar of incense lest he die. This was the ONLY way to the ark of the covenant.

The ark was made of acacia wood covered with gold. 2' wide x 3' 9" long x 2' high. The lid of the ark was called the mercy seat. Hovering here were 2 cherubim with outstretched wings. It contained the tablets of stone, a pot of manna & Aaron's rod that budded.

The mercy seat was made of solid gold and once a year, the Day of Atonement, the blood of a goat was placed on the mercy seat to 'cover' the sins of the people. It was there above the mercy seat that God hovered in the pillar of cloud. Shekinah Glory cloud.
Ex. 25: 10 - 22

Just inside the outer gate the altar of bronze was located for the Hebrews to bring their offerings. The sacrifice was tied to the horns of the altar and consumed by coals of fire in a 7.5' square box. This altar of bronze was God's picture of His Lamb, Jesus, nailed to the cross for our sins, baptized with a baptism of fire.

Beyond the altar was the laver, where the priests washed daily. They could not enter the holy place without washing. It too was made of bronze which was a symbol of judgement. Jesus, the Word of God said, made us clean through the Word He spoke to us. John 15: 3, Eph 5: 26 ( If we need cleansing we need His Word, I need it every day, how about you? )

There was only ONE DOOR giving access to the tabernacle, it always faced east. Jesus is the door. John 10: 9

There were other furniture, 7 branched candlestick, bread and the altar of incense to also represent Jesus. Bread of life John 6: 48 , Light of men John 1: 4 , High priest who makes intercession for us evermore Heb 10: 20 . This is our covenant lamb, have you passed between its pieces?

We meet Jesus at the mercy seat, God incarnate, who before Abraham was born, was the I AM, one with the Father John 8: 58 ; 10: 30 - 33 . If we do not believe this we shall die in our sins John 8: 24 . His flesh was the veil that was represented by the veil in the temple being torn from top to bottom.
For more on the covenant and laws during that time: Deut 28 - 30 .
Read Jeremiah 31: 31 - 40 and see if Israel will ever cease to be a nation?
I was noticing on Nathan's globe how tiny Israel is today and how it is surrounded by so many nations who despise it. How can there not be a God protecting it, for His promised return? Jer 32: 37 - 44 .
Israel returned as a nation 5/14/48, Ezekiel 11: 13 - 21 , 36: 24 - 28
Gentiles first became believers approx 8 years after Pentecost, Acts 10 . To answer Christs' mystery see Eph 3: 4 - 6 . Jesus had abolished the law, no Jew, Gentile, man or woman but one believer could now draw near to the most Holy God. No need for priesthood, sacrifices and now you have true PROPITIATION ( Greek translation 'hilasterion' meaning " satisfaction of wrath " ) not just a covering or atonement needed to repeat every year.
Now re-read Hebrews homework dear one, any new insights?

Next week is the last week and we are going to find out the answer to "Why do we still obey the law under the New Covenant? " I can't wait!
May God bless!

Hi Sis!

It really touched me to the heart when you said you wished we lived closer and could do this together!! Our class is huge 100-120 every Tues. but we break up into 3 to 4 smaller groups afterwards and discuss class questions and pray for each other. Sometimes I lead my group and would love to have you there helping me so much!

It is so important to realize like you say, PROPITIATION not just atonement. There is nothing we could have done that Christ's flesh and blood was not enough to satisfy God's wrath against the sin. It is weird but right after we did this portion, P. Stanley's radio show was talking about our guilt and how it keeps us from having intimacy with our Lord.

We should never let ourselves be overtaken with guilt and turn from the Lord, if we do we are saying Jesus was not enough to cover whatever the sin was. Just repent and move on. We should not worry if we are praying enough, reading our bible enough or doing enough for Jesus, just accept that He loves us and never expected us to be perfect, just to love Him. He is one with the Father and He died so we could be one with Him, I'll say that again cuz it is so awesome when you get it...
He is one with the Father, and He died SO WE COULD BE ONE WITH HIM
Praying we all live in the knowledge of that, every minute of every day and never let satan take a foothold ever again and cause us to doubt Christ's love!!
Something that surprises me is how many in churches use guilt on people, it is not from Christ. None, not one of them are perfect so they should love & help each other not condemn each other. When we completed the study we all decided that everyone who accepts Christ should do a study of this covenant, there would be no more condemnation and guilt, just love and acceptance among believers.
God bless and thanks for doing the study Sue, hope Jac stops by too. I will work on getting the final up if she wants it. I am off this week but also have family coming out from Cal. Love ya sis, Nancy

HI Jackie dear!

OH my gosh! Please don't even worry another sec about this sis.
I had talked to Sue by phone back in Jan and she said you guys were going to do this Covenant together. She was going to help you so I went ahead and posted all this. I understand people have good intentions but then just get busy or have a lot going on like you have now. I am done with this now and have already started Titus with my class. I was just keeping my word by trying to keep this up for you guys. I love you for trying, that is all any of us can do is try. It is an awesome life changing study though so if you ever go online see if you can order one someday. Luvs and God bless, Nancy

Hi Sue,

That's what happened when I went through my divorce, it was impossible to keep up with my last several month's of payments toward the church growth fund. I felt terrible then, but now we are getting ready to grow again -Praise God! It feels so good to know those days are over and I can really be involved this time. We are becoming the largest christian congregation north of Salt Lake and started out in a little theatre 20+ yrs ago!

Usually if you have been through a humbling experience like that it makes you more compassionate toward others. In our class during Covenant it was said "this study should be christianity 101, and EVERY new believer should have to take it-LOL! " That's cuz we learned so much and they say you should do it every 10 years to keep it fresh also.

Hi Jackie Sweetie!!
Sending you miles of prayers and love!
We are doing Titus now finishing in a couple weeks then "Forgiveness" 40 minute study, which means NO HOMEWORK over the summer- Yeah!
I can put up some if you want ??? I know you have many things you are struggling with, please give them to Jesus for a sec and come study with me?? Please honey?? Sue will help you also since I am not the best 'poster' -LOL! One thing I crave is some interaction so I can tell what is understood and where I need to clarify.
Bible studies are supposed to grow us where we are, not overwhelm the audience. Please help me not to overwhelm you, I can be a firestorm for sure! This firestorm loves you and cares deeply about your relationship with the Lord, USE it.
Hope to hear something soon, luvs, Nancy

Hi Sisters,

Well I will tell Jackie and if anyone else wants to do "Forgivenes 40 minute Study" it should start June 3rd so I can post something that week. The great thing is there is no homework so I can just share what we do in class. It should be a lot lighter study so hope you guys like it. It seems like there is always someone we could use help in forgiving, or maybe just me

Hi Jac, thanks for coming by, but I was wondering how you snuck by without your visit showing up since April???? You must be flying today and did not leave any footprints
Much luvs sweetie

Hi Jackie!

Hope you will be ok while John is gone, send him birthday wishes from USA! We did start the Forgiveness study today so I will catch up in the group and try to post it soon. It will begin with the story of Joseph, if you want to read ahead. His story is in Gen 37-50.

Since this is MY house, I say you can be anything you want cuz I love ya ( secret ) But you know if anyone else comes in I will have to act astonished at your Queenyness and also have to deny any such claims

Luvs, God bless, Nancy

Hi Jac!
Yes, you are whatever that means ( not sure ) but sounds hilarious! My police cousin has a code '5150' "fifty one fifty" in California it meant "we have a nut case on our hands, send help"

Joseph's story is within those chapters but we don't go through each verse. Just thought in case you wanted to read about him and his brothers before I post the first chapter of Forgiveness, study.
I took too long to catch up tonight in our group so I will post it for sure tomorrow (Monday).
It is one of those I will have to type a lot I think.
Love you H.R.H. ( never say what that stands for, read funnies-lol! )
