pray for my new venture... I may be opening a coffee shop..open just in the morning and then baking at night to sell to commercial accounts..ie; restaurants buying desserts. Little did I know, that it's something that my girls had talked about between themselves since they were little. One paints and the other is a photographer and those are things to incorporate into the shop. It's something that I've been trying to work out for months now. All of a sudden the opportunity is here sooner than I expected. I'm not exactly financially ready, but I'm kinda creative with working on a shoestring. It's my specialty. LOL Here's the thing. I was looking and looking for a storefront. I had seen this little free standing building down the street from me..on a VERY busy street, and thought that would be awesome for what I need. About a week or 2 later..a for rent sign went up. HOLY CARP!! I didn't call the lady til a week or so later..which was yesterday. The rent is exactly what I had told my mom I was willing to pay (not that that's how much money I have..LOL but I'll figure it out lol) Then, as I'm explaining to the landlord, she starts going off about all these ideas she has. She is a vietnamese woman who does real estate and insurance, but she knows several people who have asian shops and she said they will buy dessert items to sell in their stores if she teaches me how to make them. My boss owns 2 restaurants and is working on part interest in an upscale club and he's waiting for me to open so he can buy his desserts..he's already eaten some. LOL Also, a friend of mine is in marketing..she's already halfway out the door to talk to starbucks, etc to see who will buy stuff. She's also willing to finacially back but I'd rather not if I don't have to...but I'm not sure if I can do it alone. OHHHH....ALSO, I'm checking online for restaurant supplies. Once again...HOLY CARP!! Soooo..I go to craigslist. I find this lady who shut down her shop after 6 months because she went into huge debt opening a cafe..buying everything from restaurant supplies (she said she wished she knew about craigslist a year ago!!) Anyway...the street was shut down for upgrades to downtown and her business went down the toilet...NO BUISNESS. and she couldnt afford to hold on until it was done. It's going to be a LONG time. Sooooooo....all her stuff is in her house, porch. bedroom, storage and she wants it OUT!! Dirt cheap!! $2000 cappuccino machine for $350. Restaurant tables $10 chairs $6. Stainless steel prep tables $45. CRAZY!! I'm headed there now. OOHHH....And to top it off. she said if i buy anything, her husband will deliver it today because he's already headed to tampa to deliver something else right down the street from me. She's across the bridge in clearwater. Anyway. I'm just worried about putting myself into hock. LOL And I'm worried about my time once my full time interpreting starts again next month. I just want to be sure I'm doing the right thing. Also, there is someone else looking at the storefront..for a hair salon, but she likes my idea better. I have to decide by monday. Actually,,i kinda have to decide right this second cause I'm on my way out the door to buy a cappuccino machine. LOL My is meeting me. Well....pray..and think of a good cafe name for me. That's all for my crazy life at the moment. Except that I have to be back in time to get a storage place and change and get to work by 1130 this morning. I really think I thrive on stress. LOL |

oh wow this sounds like a opportunity NOT to be missed, seems like ya already did alot of homework on this so it should not fail in anyway.. only.. if its not right to do it YET.. I will pray that this will be what you want and acheive, and umm.. when ya hiring?

Forgot to add. When thinking of a name you really need to do some type of homework. Check all the local names of cafes or businesses that have a similar type theme as yours. Really think hard what you want your place to be. A name and logo can make or break a business so take it seriously. Also if you need any help just ask because as you know this is my area of expertise.
