Wanna come?

I'm going to be doing international studies in Mexico. I've started planning for next summer, but this morning was thinking that maybe I can pull it off this summer.
It would mean a month without working....and that in turn would mean a month of INTENSE work hours to get enough cash to pay an extra month on my mortgage. As soon as I got back I'd be starting my regular interpreting job again so there'd be a cash flow again.

Hmmmmmm...I'm going to email the advisor and see if it's possible. They typically start planning 6 months in advance, not 1 month. But total immersion classes 6 hours a day 5 days a week. Overwhelming. I love to be overwhelmed. Can anyone say type A? LOL Actually I'm not. I love down time equally well. I just think....if I can do something..why not? Last minute planning inspires me LOL

I'm an interpreter of American Sign Language but I want to interpret Spanish as well.

You suggested my studying in Montana instead of in Mexico. I'm not sure if you meant it would be Fonzie cool or temperature cool. Either way...I'm in Florida at the moment. I'm Fonzie cool and I love the heat.

My response was that I'd only go if there were a Latino population...to which you implied (or asked in implication) that I wanted to prowl for spanish men.
The truth is that I need access to language use in order to learn to speak it properly. It's how our brains work. This is why you can't learn to speak a language by staring at books or at the internet. Linguists say that our brains need to search for the right word to use..for the appropriate phrases...responses, in order to compartmentalize the information in our brain as a language and not just as information learned or memorized. Your brain does know the difference.

Just a little trivia...Did you know?...
When a Deaf person who uses sign language as their primary mode of communication has a stroke in the area of the brain which produces language; he has the same problem with language production as a hearing person who typically produces spoken language.

Have you been to a Katinas concert ?

Are you prowling for a deaf Latino man ?
(that could be good for him...I said 'could', not would)

When you were touring on the bus as a youngster, did you encounter lots of Latinos ? I don't remember any Latino gospel groups other than the Katinas (but I don't pay attention, and they are moderns, not traditionals).

If Latinos were into southern gospel, they'd be really southern !

Seriously....do you eat a lot of mexican food ?

I take it sign language is the same in all languages ?
