I have tomorrow ''off'' ....sorta LOL

Today public school started in Tampa. New freshmen. UGH! At least I'm not interpreting for any freshmen classes this year.

All of my classes are pretty good..a couple new teachers and a couple of teachers who have been there who I haven't interpreted for before and 2 that I requested to work with.

I only have one problem with my schedule. My boss..who doesn't work in my school because I work for the county school board..they can technically send me to any school in any city..well...she doesn't allow off periods.. because...well... Let's not speak my mind on that one cause you'll think Gordy influenced my language if I do. Anyway...so because I'm not allowed an off period, I have to ''interpret'' for a non signing student in an art class. The class is TMH. I'm not sure what that stands for but it means the who have helmets and diapers and stuff..high school. And I'm not interpreting..it's aiding. YEAH..no thanks! But I don't have a choice. It's going to be a long semester during 3rd period. I swear this is against my contract. UGH!
All the other classes are fine. Honors geometry is going to stretch my brain but it's a good teacher in there.

OH..one other thing. This may sound mean..but that's life. My boss hired an interpreter last year who....nevermind..more bad language brewing on that one.. Anyway, her interpreting is crap and on top of it she thinks she's the best ever and is always in our business and..it doesnt matter. If I explained it you wouldnt get the full concept because you don't know our code of ethics and junk so it would be meaningless..but she annoys the piss outta me. Well...we set her up on the schedule with students who will complain so we can get her outta there. LOL

One History teacher is DIFFICULT to interpret for because he doesn't complete his sentences/thoughts and adds wayyyyyy too many filler words (ie; are ya with me now? ya got it? ya got it? ya with me?) and speaks like a speeding freight train. Tough To interpret. Well...we put here there in honors history with a student who is known to advocate for herself and was already complaining on day one. LOL

It wasn't a complete setup. Just myself and the other interpreter didn't want that class so we gave it to her...and thought of the other motives after the fact. LOL

The thing is, we CAN interpret that class, we choose not to. When you interpret for high school you have to be able to interpret fluently MANY subjects and situations. Chemistry, zoology, history, drama, low levels and high levels of reading..When the cops come, when the social workers come, when the office wants to suspend them (and we have to voice in english what we know are lies from the deaf . LOL ) and Guidence counselor meetings..after school clubs, sports, FFA, swim meets, spanish conversations, parent meetings IEP meetings, announcements, the pledge.. SONGS for bell work!!UGH!!. EVERYTHING! I'm not awesome and I have plenty of improving to do, but you can't do high school if you can barely get by in a conversation in sign language.

ANYWAYS...hurricane is supposedly coming so we have no school tomorrow. I'm off..from there. Soooooo...I'm coming to the bakery and making TONS of stuff before we lose power so I have lots to sell when everyone else is closed the next day. HEH HEH HEH I remember a few years ago in a huge city this size there was 1 subway sandwich shop with power and another restaurant down the road. Strange..but somehow they had power..maybe generators..and were PACKED!!!
Sooo...we better at least lose power. LOL..well..not in my house though. LOL

you know what? I admire the fact you take great pride in your ability and that you believe in ethics and the code of your business. Good for you! have a safe tuesday. I am expecting at most a lot of rain.
