A War I So Totally Agree With! Here in Houston, a new gas station opened and started a price war with the gas station across the street. By closing time last night at midnight, both stations were down to just $2.08 a gallon!! When they re-opened this morning, the price was up to $3.29 a gallon. It should be interesting to see if they are going to continue to war back and forth, each dropping a penny to respond to the other today. Unfortunately for me, it would take 1/2 a tank of gas for me to get there and then I would use 1/2 a tank getting back so I haven't been able to get into the mix. This morning's news reports show people who have spent the night there, waiting for the stations to open this morning. It reminds me a bit of the lines for rock concerts back in the day before online ticket sales. I think we need more of this kind of war and preferably a lot closer to where I am!! My question to y'all is: Would you wait out all night for a cheap tank of gas if the station was close to you? I sure would!! Speaking of gas, it's now time for me to burn some on the freeways and get my backside to work. My co-worker has become quite ill this week so I have both of our jobs to do. Keep her in your prayers please. God bless y'all and Happy Wednesday! |

I probably wouldn't.... too lazy . I would probably try to con someone younger to do it. Just like yesterday, a floral shop here has what's called good neighbor day. He gives out a dozen roses to people as long as they last. You are to keep one and give out the rest. Although I think it's a wonderful and loving idea, I would not stand out in front of this shop all night in order to get a dozen roses as many people did. Like I said, too lazy I guess. Have a wonder filled and God blessed Wednesday yourself. Lord, keep one hand on my shoulder and one hand over my mouth!

I dont think I would. I just believe somehow, someway God provides. However. I am reminded of that old joke about the guy who was in the flood. The firetruck came around to rescue people but he waved them on, saying God will provide. Then a boat came around but he waved them on by as well, saying God would provide. As he is standing on his roof with flood waters all around, a helicopter comes but he waves them by, saying God will provide. Finally the man perishes in the flood waters and goes to meet his Maker. He asks God, why didn't You provide? And God replies, "I sent a firetruck, a boat and a helicopter, what more did you want?" LOL Seriously, I believe God provides some how some way as well. It's just not usually in the manner I was expecting.

28 cents!!! Wow!! It was around 60 cents a gallon when I was learning to drive. I also remember when I was little my mom and I taking in soda bottles we found to get gas money. I don't remember how much gas was back then but we could get either a nickle or a dime for each bottle we found. I remember we used to get free stuff with our gas purchases too. Sometimes it was glasses, other times towels or trading stamps that you could save up to get other cool stuff like furniture!! I think my aunt still has some chairs that were purchased with trading stamps! LOL

I remember the "energy crisis." I remember my parents could only fill up their tanks on certain days. I think it has to do with the letters on your license plate or something. Sounds like your dad really loved you lots and perhaps his love language is acts of service! My dad is like that. He will never tell you he loves you but he sure seems to love to check the oil in my car!
