 To prevent losing socks, I suggest you throw into the washer/dryer a monthly sacrifice of 1 old sock. Works great for me, if you consider going barefoot all year, successful

Yeah, I would suggest wearing out the toes a bit more, that puts more emphasis on your soul (sole??) too
