I dont hang onto the past but I still think of my ex husband now and then and say a genuine prayer for him, time makes you forget the bad and I think the Lord also has a lot to do with that...

The past is for remembering, but not for living in. Regards

I think its individual. In most cases I have seen women do this more. But I know my son remembers alot and can talk about it like it is yesterday

To learn from it!....Become wiser for it....And to bring that wisdom to the next relationship....GBY ‘HE will rule them with an iron scepter.’... He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.... On HIS robe and on HIS thigh HE has this name written:... KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."

I wanted to vote but you've left out my choice. Which would have been, I dont hang on to the past but I never forget and no, I don't stop loving. Now, how about that? Does this make me technically a man? I always cling to good memories, and cherish them forever and ever. I certainly DO let go of the bad ones (being an eternal optimist). I sometimes think i'm made of pure mush inside (yuck!) which is PRECISELY why, i tend to coat my heart in a frosty reserve, and hope and pray fervently that it will all remain intact, its best that way no?

Hanging on to the past seems to be a strange thing to do. When God forgives us He wipes the slate clean. When I forgive, I learn the lessons of the past and move on. Sometimes I am foolish enough to make the same mistake twice, however God forgives me because He knows my heart. My aim is to be a good ambassador for my Father in Heaven, so I am to succeed by doing His will and not my own. I choose to let go of the past and not become bitter. May God bless us all and help us to learn the lessons of the past, and truly let go of it and move forward.

Dawntime - I insist. I do not hang on to the past. I can forget with insulting quickness if I dont feel edified in God's will with someone. To say someone "hangs on" implies you want it back... not for me no thanks. Life's for living. That's why time goes forward, and never back, and my clockwork definitely is in sync sweetie. Perhaps you will learn from me, perhaps you wont, but in time you will see I DO have a point - if you love and then let go and love on a different level, that is not "hanging on" with all its worldly implications, it is the work of the Holy Spirit moving you onto different levels of Divine Wisdom and understanding of how powerful Love is, for God is Love. God bless x
