When God Says No, Keep Asking By Sharon Glasgow "Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." Matthew 7: 7-8 (NKJV) Devotion: Many times we pray and don't get the answers we want in the time we think it should have been answered. Have you given up on God? Don't! Let's look at what God says about praying. Are you willing to surrender your will for God's will at all cost? That means you give in to your own idea of how things should be and trust God for how He will answer. What does God's Word say about the issue you are praying about? God's Word is living and powerful and discerns our hearts and motives. While reading it and looking for God's answer to your prayer, you will know if your prayer is according to God's will. Also, ask the Holy Spirit to give you His supernatural leading as to how to pray for your need. He will do that for us - He desperately wants us to ask that of Him. If you have done these things and your heart is right before God, let the pleading begin! There is a Canaanite woman in the Bible who wouldn't take the answer "no" from Jesus. She came to Him and asked that her be freed of demon possession. He didn't answer her. Many would have left him at that point. She didn't leave, however. Instead she worshipped Him and pleaded again, "Lord, help me!" He again discouraged her. His disciples wanted to send her away, but she did not give up! She knew with all her heart that Jesus could do anything. Finally Jesus said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." And her was healed that very hour. God wants to answer your prayer. Do you have faith like the Canaanite woman? Go before the throne of God with a holy boldness and do not be afraid to trust Him. He loves to give good gifts to those who ask. Just trust His timing, for it is always perfect. He may answer you as you want today, or it may take years for you to see the fruit of your begging. Keep on asking and keep on knocking and you will receive your answer. When God appears to say "no," He isn't always meaning "no." Will you be like Jacob and wrestle with God in prayer for your blessing? Jacob wouldn't let God go unless God blessed him. He preferred that his bones be broken in the fight than to not get his answer to prayer. Jacob received his blessing because he was fervent and not wavering in his faith and pursuit of God. Dear Lord, Please give me Your wisdom and Your guidance as I lay my request before You. Help me not to be led by selfish desires but only by your Holy Spirit in me. Help me to discern Your will so that I may pray with all boldness In Jesus' name Amen Application Steps: You need to believe that God will answer your prayer. Faith is required for answered prayer. Matthew 9:29 If you lack faith ask God to help your unbelief like the father in Mark 9:23-24. The father said, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" Jesus did answer the man's prayer. He just needed to ask. Reflections: Have you fasted with your praying? Acts 10:30 Have you prayed with two or more people? Matthew 18:19,20 Power Verses: Matthew 15:22-28, "And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, 'Have mercy on me, O Lord, of David! My is severely demon possessed.' But He answered her not a word. And his disciples came and urged Him saying, 'Send her away, for she cries out after us.' But He answered and said, 'I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel .' Then she came and worshipped Him, saying 'Lord, help me!' But He answered and said, 'It is not good to take the 's bread and throw it to the little dogs.' And she said, 'Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their master's table.' Then Jesus answered and said to her, 'O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.' And her was healed from that very hour." (NKJV) James 4:3, "You ask and do not receive because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your own pleasures. Kevin put this up too...sometimes the answer is plain no. Christians dont like to hear no but Gods ways are not our ways. We do not have to twist his arm. When he closes a door he may open a window...how about nevertheless not my will but thine be done. The church has got to stop playing God! We cannot manipulate the lord to get what we want but be willing to accept whatever the answer may be. Also may get an answer you dont want. One needs to let God be God and stop trying to control him! Ps. 106: 13-16 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. Isaiah 42:8 " I am the Lord; that is my name! And My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images."

Sweethoney2007, God does say no, but when God says no it is because we are not in His will. Never will God say no if we are in His will and doing His will. That would be like wanting us to do something and telling us not to,His words would go against His will for us. The key is being in His will and asking. God Bless You, Mike

Hello Maryann my friend, the group is something I am praying about, it seems that most of the people who joined did so only because I invited them, they do not use it at all. I know some do, and I want to have a place where people can come and talk to one another without having to spend "BC points" to do so. A place where they can ask for prayer and receive it. I am trying to get direction on what to do, so please pray and ask God to show me. God Bless You, Mike PS, How have you been? Getting settled in ok? Is there anything I can pray about for you? We can be in his will and still ask amis. The point is that we need to seek out Gods best for us and if we don't know then let God be God! The woman with the issue of blood was not denied by God...in fact she could not get near him! Jesus commended her for her faith in him for the answer to her problems and not the persistence. Where people get that from! God will make a way where there is no way if he wants you to have something! However,if he does not, best not push it as one may get what they want and alot of pain with it! God will allow us to have our prayers answered as evident in scripture if we persist but boy are we sorry later! Just pointing out that we need to be like Jesus...not my will but thine be done and not keep harping on a matter.! Kim Isaiah 42:8 " I am the Lord; that is my name! you know.....it's not just about asking but praying and discerning and accepting..... but it does say ask and you shall receive in God, I trust
