Why are they so rude? Why do have to be so rude? We had our annual talent show this afternoon. Most groups, looked like they hadn't really practiced. One group, were my , and they were good and looked like they had practiced. Besides that, the just sat in the audience talking. How can anybody enjoy something, when it is difficult to pay attention, when there is so much noise around you? They were told, I do not know how many times, to quiet down. The students at the school I teach at, do not think they have to ever follow a simple direction. I just needed to vent. I have been dealing with this type of behavior for too long. Consequences do not seem to be working. 4 more school days!!!!!!!!!!!!1 |

Hi there! I want to share something with you that - although I wish were encouraging - I know it really isn't. Last year I was priveleged to spend a fair amount of time at my State Capitol while our Congress was in session. I was working with one of our State Representatives who happened to hold a prominent position within the Party Caucus in the House. This meant that I was able to meet and really observe many of the members, as 'my' Rep. was the Caucus Chairperson. I want you to know that I was literally dumbfounded as to the rudeness these 'adults' displayed toward each other! I would sit in the balcony area during the session, and just watch in amazement as the powerful and prominent 'Elected Officials' all acted like first graders! When a member would approach the "well" as it is called (the podium from which a member speaks to their colleagues regarding legislation) the appropriate etiquette calls for a respectful and quiet attention upon the speakers message. Instead, people walked around, talked, laughed loudly, argued, left the room repeatedly, had photos taken with constituents, MADE CELL PHONE CALLS - etc. In short, they did everything BUT pay attention - which made it almost impossible for anyone else to pay attention! Unfortunately, we are a very rude society - and I do beleive that only through a proper demonstration of respect beginning first within the home and then within the Church (which in my opinion should be a child's first definition of 'community') will our young people grow into respectful adults. You are right to note that 'consequences do not seem to be working' and again, just look at the same situation from the adult perspective. Consequences aren't working there, either. This is partly because we now teach and cling to the thought that we are above reproach - and that consequences are 'condemnation' and judgment. How sad for the LORD's people! I hope your students improve overall - and that you receive some encouragement from the fact that it was your group who seemed most 'together!' Congrats on only 4 more days! I hope you enjoy your break! Sincerely, Frances
