Is there life on another planet?

I read today that the Vatican concedes that life may exist elsewhere in this universe.

The issue now is related to who infact made the rest of the universe and if the work of Jesus falls within this realm.

For me it is still crystal clear-- God made the heavens and the earth. Simple.

Now what about Jesus? Well I believe he redeemed all mankind ( humankind) . Period. If life exist on another planet I still believe that Jesus would be their redeemer also.

So what about original sin? For me the same applies... these other creatures would certainly be within our world as we see it. Or am I being too earth-centric?

AM I the only one who is thinking about this possibility?

Although i like mels answer, I must say, no, there is not life as there is no scriptural basis for it, Earth is the centre for all life.

I too have to agree that there is nothing Biblical to support life on other planets. Now as for other planets, the Bible doesn't speak to, one way or another, but it appears implied to me that Earth is the only place where God made our kind of life as we understand it.

To date, over 250 planets have been discovered in orbits of other nearby stars. None of which can be reached in less then a thousand years with currently known technology, or even technology enhanced by ideas of realistic possibilities.
All but a couple of them are within a 200 light year distance from us. (so close yet so far)
Nearly all of them are huge planets that dwarf Jupiter in size, and most are closer to their parent star then Mercury.

Of the handfull of planets that are not much too close to their Suns, and getting scorched, some are too far from their Sun, some have the wrong kind of Sun which is too big, or too small, too hot, or too cool, too bright, or too dim, too much radiation,, too unstable, several Suns. Then there are planetary factors to consider.

No atmosphere, or a poisonious atmosphere, the wrong kind of tilt, too dry, too wet, too much cloud cover. To big, or too small, too much, or not enough gravity. Too many moons. Planet made of wrong kind of stuff.
A wildly variance in orbits, and so many other thins as well.

Actually,,, I agree with you. In fact, I see earth as becoming the center of the universe as I read in Revelations 21:1-3, of a new heaven and a new earth, and the holy city the New Jerusalem come down out of heaven from God, and a loud voice from heaven declaring it as the Tabernacle of God, where God will dwell with men,,,,where?? ,,,,on the new EARTH!

Someone, tell me I'm crazy. I dare you!
